Taste of London

Taste of London is finally here after many months of waiting (and drooling) in anticipation of the food on display.

Although hundreds of hungry Londoners traipsing around Regent’s Park sounds like something out of a horror film (it’s even worse when you picture everyone with little plastic forks…) people were pouring through the gates late into the evening. The £21 entry fee and oodles of crowns to purchase are nothing when a mouthful of a Michelin-starred meal is on the line.

And then of course there’s the celebrity spotting. Whilst we didn’t see anyone double-take worthy in the crowd this year, we did spot some celebrity chefs hard at work. Angela Hartnett was fronting the stall at York and Albany, doling out food and spreading the word about her new restaurant, and we also saw Jun Tanaka hard at work at the Pearl stall. Not forgetting Antony Worrall Thompson kicking back at a posh wine stall right across from his own AWT one.

The demonstrations are seriously worth it, with cooking demonstrations featuring everyone from Arthur Potts-Dawson of Acorn House and Water House to television favourite Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. And there are lots of local stuff, too, including classes with top regional food producers across the UK.

So if you’ve got a craving for cuisine and some cash to burn, head on over to Regent’s Park before it’s been and gone. But just in time for the weekend, of course it’s already started to rain. Make sure to bring your brollies… those purple carpets look mighty slippery.
