Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday London clubs, happy birthday to you. No, I’ve not lost my tiny little mind, you can expect a lot of birthday parties at London clubs over the next month as three of the biggest names in clubland celebrate major milestones.
Ministry of Sound, matter and Fabric have all survived a tough year for clubs and whilst many venues have closed their doors for good, these guys will be having massive birthday parties to celebrate their good fortune.
First up, matter turns 1 this weekend. To celebrate, they’ve got Carl Cox, all wrapped up in a big red bow (OK, not quite) to headline the event, which is set to be massive. matter has had a successful year, pulling in acts like Paul van Dyk, Fedde Le Grand and, of course, Carl Cox. They have struggled against a year of severe disruptions on the Jubilee Line, which has caused major disruption at the O2, where the club is based. However, the Jubilee Line will be running a full service for the event. Tickets are still available, but best buy them ahead of time if you want to avoid the massive queue on the door.
Then there’s another major milestone. I mentioned the Ministry of Sound birthday in my blog the other week. Well, it’s finally arrived and next week will see the superclub celebrating its 18th birthday is style. It’s old enough now that it can party at Ministry of Sound if it wants. Oh God, that was an awful joke. Sorry. Tickets are available for The Gallery celebration or the main party on the Saturday night. These will sell out though so you’d better get in quick. I have mine safely under my pillow at home.

Finally, there’s Fabric’s 10th birthday next month. Now these guys are really going for it with four nights of parties, including a 48-hour rave. That’s a bit much for me, I’m a bit older than 10, you see, but it’s certainly going to have a few people really going for it. Tickets are on sale here.
Birthday parties at London clubs are all the rage at the moment and in these times of venue closures, I’ll be making every attempt to celebrate their milestones.
Happy birthday, guys!
