Blimey, She's a Right Flapper!

The prohibition sounds like a bit of a drag to me, personally. In the early 1900s alcohol was banned – yup, no cocktails, no pints, not even a vodka Red Bull in sight. Now THAT sucks. Of course, alcohol was smuggled in and distributed, but the drinking culture was reduced to nothing as everything went underground… OK, it all sounds a bit sexier now, but I still prefer this day and age when I can pop to the nearest pub and say goodbye to a hard day at the office.
So, it was a surprise when we at ViewLondon started to notice a trend brewing right here in our fair capital - Prohibition parties. It immediately conjured up images of people sitting around, down in the mouth without so much as a drop of alcohol to pass the lips… I couldn’t …

A Real Treasure at Mahiki

OK, so we at ViewLondon aren’t particularly au fait with the whole spending a mini fortune on a drink. However, we have to admit that we can’t help but get excited at this new offering from one of our favourite clubs – Mahiki.
That’s right fellow cocktail-lovers! Mahiki has come up with a new concept in cocktails. You’re probably already familiar with the Treasure Chest – a £100 cocktail that comes, unsurprisingly, served in a treasure chest. Well, their new offering really has our tastebuds going into overdrive (unfortunately, it’s also doing the same to our wallets!) with the oh so exciting Mahiki Armada Treasure Chest!
You know how much we enjoy a good …

Welcome Back Proud Camden!

Oh.My.God. We are so excited we could just die. Right now. Just fall down in a big pile as our little hearts burst with joy. Yes, that’s right fellow Camdenites, At Proud has been resurrected in the form of Proud Camden. We don’t really care what it’s called, as long as it’s as incredible as it used to be. Put it in your diaries – 3rd April, launch night. Oh yes.
You know how our hearts bled when our beloved Camden caught fire and The Hawley Arms was destroyed, along with a sizeable portion of the market. It was a sad day in Camden’s life – in all our lives. So it’s really worthy that a collection will be held on the opening night for all those affected by the great blaze – open those wallets boys and girls and dig deep to help Camden get back …

You're Havin' A Laugh!

We’ve been feeling a bit blue in the ViewLondon office the last couple of months. First off, it has been cold – bloody cold. So the snow hasn't really hit us, but still, we don’t appreciate covering up our cute outfits with several layers of wool.
Then there were the diets. Oh God the diets. They hurt – a lot. Every year we do the same thing, eat five boxes (OK, tins) or Quality Streets, stuff half a turkey in our gobs and wash it all down with three (OK 10) glasses of egg nog. Good times.
Finally we had no money, it’s taken until now to pay off those credit card debts – there were a LOT of presents (OK, drinks).
Anyways, when we’re feeling low and needed a pick me up, we just headed along to one of London’s worst kept …

NME Award Winners 2008

Well, well, well. We don’t mean to be smug but didn’t we do well with our NME award winner tips? Two out of three ain’t bad, eh? If you don’t know what we’re talking about, take a little look over our last NME 2008 blog.
We were so happy for the lovely Kate Nash for winning Best Solo Artist. The down to Earth lass was shocked and thanked her mum and dad for their support – maybe not rock and roll but definitely very touching. She’s been such a huge influence on the British music charts this last year, there really was no other logical choice. Kate Nash, we salute you!
And how about the Arctic Monkeys? Way to go, guys! They picked up three awards including the most coveted Best British Band (yup, we knew it - ahhh the ViewLondon oracle). …
