New Licences for Lapdancing Clubs

There’s nothing I like more than a good lapdance. OK, that’s a lie. But a lot of people do enjoy them and I see them as pretty harmless. Spearmint Rhino and Stringfellows definitely have their place on London’s nightlife scene.
However, new licences for lapdancing clubs are due to come into effect next year, in an attempt to curb the spread of strip clubs. This means that all existing lapdancing clubs in London will need to reapply for their licence and the council has …

Mercury Prize Winner

Let’s hear it for London! A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog about the Future Cool Music List being dominated by Londoners. And now a South Londoner has picked up one of the most prestigious accolades a musician can get – the Mercury Prize.

Meanwhile, cutting edge band The XX from Putney slammed into number six. Shoreditch singing queen Little Boots was number nine and my personal favourite La Roux just made it into the top 10. Finally, indie band The Big Pink – also from East London – came in at number 20. …
