Should Burlesque Clubs Be Licensed?

Until yesterday I was a burlesque virgin. Yup, that’s right I’d never seen nipple tassels. It was a sad time for me. Last night, however, I popped my burlesque cherry at Volupte, a decadent little supper club near Holborn. It was awesome! There was a magician who, I swear to God, made a card MAGICALLY change into the three of hearts in my hand. Amazing. There were also fire eaters, gymnasts showing of their skills on hoops hanging from the ceiling and even a snake. A real snake. There were also nipple tassels.

Outdoor Clubs in London

OK, OK. Perhaps I’m jumping the gun a little here. It IS still April after all and there is a bit of rain forecast for the weekend. But damn, I’m loving this weather. Today I left my house – get ready for it – without a jacket. I know. I’m hardcore. Summer may be approaching but there are cold, dark times ahead for clubs, bars, restaurants, hell everyone. As businesses struggle to make ends meet I wish I had the spare cash to make the most of the crazy low priced deals on drinks, food and entry that many venues are now employing to keep people coming through the doors - I could save a mint!
Even well established businesses are having to up their game to stay ahead of the pack. For example, 24 London has always been massive on Soho’s clubbing scene with a door policy stricter than a 1950s headmaster and a pricey membership fee. DJ Bars in London

I swear, my account is a vortex for money. Money goes in and it just… Disappears! God knows where it all goes. It DOES mean that as pay day falls after the weekend this month (probably the longest month of my life!) that I now can’t afford to go clubbing.
However, abject in my misery, a little spark of an idea began to form in my brain… a real lightbulb moment. Why pay an outlandish club entry fee on a Saturday night when I can get into a DJ bar for free and still enjoy quality tunes (or shall I say choooons?).
