Here at the ViewLondon offices we’ve been to plenty of baby showers, and whilst we watched the lovely mothers-to-be smiling benignly and graciously thanking their guests for yet another bobble-topped hat or squeaky dino toy, we couldn’t help but be suspicious that what they were really thinking was, ‘God, I could really go for some baked beans and sultanas right about now.’
Thankfully someone has come to the rescue of these hungry mummies. Eco Pizzeria in Chiswick, after receiving a series of bizarre pizza requests from pregnant ladies, decided to give in to popular demand and create a series of oddly-topped pizzas.
They’ve gone one step further though and, besides being chock full of weird ingredients, the pizzas have also been approved by nutritionist Dr Sarah Schenker so they that don’t include anything unhealthy.

There are eight pizzas in the range, including the aforementioned baked beans and sultanas pizza (which also includes olives, prunes and capers), a steak and sunflower seeds pizza and an ice cream pizza – the request that started it all off. It’s topped with everything from the more usual mozzarella to the slightly odd dried sultanas and cranberries to the completely out-there pistachio ice cream. Sound good? Err… congratulations!
So if you know a mum-to-be who’s past the nausea stage and onto the cravings, this might be just what she wants. Certainly more than a knitted pair of booties, anyway.
Hmm, I'm more a pepperoni girl myself. Although, is it wrong that I want to try the ice cream pizza? Don't judge me.
