I have to admit I’m not the arty type. I DO get how amazing Banksy is (unfortunately, I can’t help but get sucked in by popular opinion) and the Tate Modern appeals, but I do find it quite tough to stand and enjoy art for longer than half an hour or so before my mind starts to wander onto less high brow things like the latest Sex and the City movie. OK, that’s an exaggeration but you get the idea.
With that in mind, I have to say that the idea of a charity art show in a pub really appeals, which is why I had my interest piqued at one such event, happening on Tuesday 3rd June.
Taking place at The Telegraph in Putney, fifteen leading artists including Margaret Knott, Jane Bristowe, Eric Larmont, and Halina Nekanda-Trepka will be showing off their talent – all for charity. The pieces will be available to buy, with prices starting at around £200 (better than the posters I have up at the moment).

It’s a great way to make art more accessible for the average Joe (OK, average Kelly!) on the street. Galleries can sometimes come across as a little intimidating and, dare I say it, stuffy for some. Whatever art you like, be it etchings, prints, abstract, landscapes, conceptual, perceptual, fine-line or nude (yeah!) then there’s something to take your fancy. And if that doesn’t rock your boat, The Telegraph does a great pint!
I think I feel the art critic in me struggling to get out – or maybe I just need a drink!
sounds perfect for putney. proof that arty types love a drink!
