Six days of Animate the World
Returning for the ninth year in 2010, the Animate the World Film Festival runs for six days, featuring a full programme of cartoons, animated features and short films.

Interactive fun
A series of workshops give young visitors the chance to get interactive with animated cinema at the Barbican. Workshops include claymation and special effects creation, just to name a few.

Japanimation
Teenagers and adults can also enjoy a whole range of Japan anime and manga during the festival. From Summer Wars to Dante's Inferno, there's plenty to entertain here, including a special talk on the origins of the genre by film expert Jasper Sharp.

Festival highlights
Highlights at the 2010 Animate the World Film Festival include a breakfast gala screening of the French film Eleanor's Secret, as well as Spirit of the Forest which features the voices of Ron Perlman and Angelica Huston. Film fans can see the latest in animated world cinema in London, whilst young audiences can enjoy new adventures on the big screen.

International films
A number of new films will be screened at the Animate the World Film Festival from countries all over the world, and non English films will be subtitled so that everyone can keep up with the films. Recent Hollywood blockbusters such as Up 3D and The Adventures of Mr Fox are also being shown once again.

Karel Zeman
The 2010 Animate the World festival includes a special retrospective on the celebrated Czech animator Karel Zeman, whose experimental and innovative films influenced a generation of film makers with their mix of 2D, stop motion and live action effects. If you've never had the chance to see Zeman's work on the big screen before, then you can book your tickets to see films such as The Invention of Destruction and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen at The Barbican.

The Animate the World Film Festival takes place at the Barbican from Saturday 22nd May - Thursday 27th May 2010.
