An absolute treasure in the cinemas of London. This independently run (in fact charity run) cinema is old world and deserves to stay that way. Showing a selection of International and classic cinema, this is a gem that any movie goer would love.

Situated on East Finchley's High Street (just across the road from the tube station) this one screen cinema may not show the latest blockbusters, but you are sure to fine quality films from quality film makers. I particularly like the Sunday double bills, when you get to see two films for the price of one. The decor is true to the original style, and even with the new seating, it is a step back to a better time. They even give you tickets from an old fashioned ticket machine.

A nice selection of cinema foods is available, from popcorn to carrot cake, with alcohol too. The best part is the membership. For a small fee, you can be a member of the cinema for a year and get two free screenings, invites to members only events, and get £1 off every time you visit (along with other nice stuff).

The staff are both friendly and enthusiastic and while the audience can be of an older variety, it shouldn't put you off enjoying the splendour of the place.

On the negative side, the toilets are a little cramp, and the screen isn't huge, but that doesn't matter. It's an old cinema and it wouldn't improve the building if they were to put an enormous screen in. It occasionally shows film in digital, so they are stepping up their game.

All in all, a place I feel very much at home in and would recommend anyone to.
