A history of film at the Proms
Early Proms audiences in the 1890s were entertained with screenings of silent films which, at the time, were pioneering artistic feats. Film screenings were reintroduced to the Proms programme in 2005, a tradition that continues this year. The movie line up for 2006 is inspired by the season’s anniversary composers, Mozart and Shostakovich.
