Basically loved it. The whole spirit of the thing. Staff gladly showing piercings, not like other cinemas where they hide everything. Nice little tables outside, where you can enjoy you cafe on a sunny afternoon. Would definitely come back, but live far away, so will leave for lucky locals.
The programming is usually great, the projection is good quality and the seats very comfortable. However watch out for frosty and hostile staff, if the box office is busy don't expect a warm welcome, in fact, expect to feel like an inconvenience. Very disappointing.
This place is great... a real gem in the heart of Brixton.
Great venue, great films, friendly staff, what more could you want?
You can have a drink before, during and even after the film.
Prices are a little more than the big cinema chains, but i feel its totally worth it.
Can get a little busy, but thats because they do what they do well...
A few more toilets wouldn't go a miss too, that cue can get a bit long at the end of the screening
Keep up the good work
The Ritzy is a fab cinema with great arthouse films. Seats that don't make your bottom numb and you can have a wine before, during and after the film. However, do not come here looking for good food. Maybe the chef was having a bad day, but this meal was the worst for a long time & by far the worst in South London; 1/2 a battered fish & old mushy peas, pathetic tomato dressing from a jar and 5 rocket leaves. To make it worse, it's not cheap and the staff were rude!! I would suggest you stick to the popcorn & film.
Quality cinema, one of the best in London actually.
From a projection standpoint, the films i saw were of good quality, with little scratching and sharply focused.
Staff were friendly, informative, and not shy to engage in a little bit of banter.
The food's a little pricey, but it's London, you can't expect anything else really, but for the price, it's great stuff.
I live in North London but i still travel all the way to Brixton just to use this cinema, it's that good.
Legendary venue for thought-provoking films, still retaining its historic look. Recommended.
