My partner and I visited All Star for the first time on his birthday this year. Had heard good reviews from others and due to it only being the two of us we decided to go to a smaller bar.
The drinks are quite pricey, but what can you expect in London. The drinks were amazing and the staff were incredibly welcoming and lovely to us!
The bowling was hilarious, everyone there was 'merry' which brought a great atmosphere to the place.
The music was also brilliant, most people were singing along and dancing.
Hands down best bar in Brick Lane and the surrounding area!
Had a great time here for my Birthday a few weeks ago. Karaoke was great fun and the cocktials were great too! Will definitely be back again...need to practise so I can beat my firends at bowling next time!
Great food - Appalling service.
My friends and I visited last Friday for a meal. I had been previously been and had enjoyed the food, so felt no hesitation in recommending we eat there.
I wish I hadn't bothered. We ordered 4 Blue Moons from the menu that is laid out on the table, priced at £3.60. We received a charge for £4.75 per Blue Moon on our bill. Apparently, Blue Moon costs £4.75 a pint, which isn't displayed on the menu we were given.
Our waiter then offered to revise the bill, which came back at £89.99. Despite numerous attempts by each person to calculate the final cost, it didn't come up to £89.99, rather it came up to £77 at most (including a voluntary charity donation - which is fine, but we were never asked if we would like to include it.) This discrepancy was brushed off by the waiter.
As we were leaving, my friend asked if he could have a copy of the bill for his records. He was presented with a bill that totaled to £80.
What I would like to know is why All Star Lanes in Brick Lane believe it's fair practice to overcharge their customers?
Bowling was great and so were the drinks when they eventually arrived the bar service was exceedingly slow and 3 out of 4 items ordered had run out, 1, Root Beer 2, Chocolate Ice Cream, 3, Kiwi Fruit (for cocktail)
pretty shoddy to be honest but a bit of good luck!! they had mint for my Mojito. Would have drunk a lot more if the service was speedier but their loss.
I had the burger and have to say it was really good and not expensive, really well cooked, juicy and well seasoned. Overall the group enjoyed the food but we had no server so were not offered desert etc, we just got the bill and left. Big shame really and an anti-climax after all of the good reviews; Maybe they were all written by the Marketing team and staff .
After visiting here expecting something different we were disappointed , if the burger had not been good then I would have considered not paying the 12% service charge. Could be good but just ain't.
This is a regular for me and my best mate - we meet for milkshakes there at least once a week because they are just soooooo good. I would suggest the reese's one! They aren't expensive either.
Food is good too. I would like them to change the menu up sometimes (cos then I'd go and eat there more often), but the food is a high standard. I turned up on my birthday once with a large group of people, and even without a reservation they went out of their way to get us a table together (on a busy night) and were really friendly.
I've been bowling there too - I remember it being reasonably priced, but I also found out that there's an offer they do for Sunday bowling with Rogue Traders record shop which is worth checking out. I thought the cocktails were a little pricey in the bar, so I only had 1, but it was good...shame I couldn't have more!
Went with my friends on the weekend, very cool place, great atmosphere. I went with the expectation of it beign a huge bowling hall, but it was a nice suprise to find that it is bowling/dining and drinking all in one place and done to a very high standard. It was a bit pricey for the bowling but the quality of the bowling balls, lanes and shoes made it well worth it, much better than anywhere i'd been before, it's the sort of place i could see myself going regularly, the food was tasty and really filling, and the cocktails were very refreshing and helped with my bowling, i got 5 strikes!! my best ever!! Will definitely be going again very soon! 5 big fat stars!!
Decided to hire out the "private room" @ allstar lanes (bricklane) for my partners 25th birthday. Venue is nice, not all the clean when you walk in (carpet has various staines) and dont be fooled when they say 130 or so capacity, I had about 50/60 people and that was more than enough! Guests slowly began to come, things were going well, notice I said "going". I hooked up my mp3 to the sound system, and the music kept cutting out, when I asked the woman working there why this was happening, she shrugged her shoulders and said I dont know. Then, 2 of the 3 bowling lanes ive paid £500 to hire decided to break, technician eventually called to fix and to be fair fixed pretty quick, but considering your paying that much to hire the place you really dont need that happening. Food was ok at best, but its pricey, so get some overtime in before coming here lol. Saying all of the above, people did enjoy the party (adults and children) and my partner loved it. Great venue for private hire, just wasnt happy with various "glitches" on the night. Hope this helps.
Visited twice in a week, and both times the staff were very friendly, efficient and courteous. The food was excellent, the milkshakes the best in London, and I have tried every milkshake in London.
No, really.
Every milkshake.
We've booked it for a party in March.
That's how happy we are with it.
An excellent diner.
Bangers & Mash on New Years Eve is set to be amazing! With these guys throwing the party & Carl Barat on the decks it's a winner for sure!
Just had a Christmas party at the All Star Lanes yesterday and a fab time was had by all! Just wanted to express how happy we all were with the food, drinks and service....naturally the bowling was great too. Hopefully we can come back here for next year's party!
Great venue! We went here for a club night and had SO MUCH FUN!
Great venue! We went there for a club night and had so much fun!
Went on a Monday nite, probably not the best to get a feel for the place. Was pretty quiet but good fun note had by us. However, for a Monday nite service was pretty poor. Sorry but just not worth the 12.5% service charge. Had a terrible job to book a lane, with friend literally calling all day to get an alley. Would recommend going with a group, but stick to the burgers and don't expect great device, even when they r quiet n only have 5 people to serve!
Some friends and I had a great evening of karaoke, cocktails and bowling at All Stars Brick Lane. Great venue and friendly but professional staff - and the card and drinks voucher because it was my birthday was a nice touch! No voice and a sore wrist (I'm not the most skillful bowler) were a price well worth paying.
Milkshakes! I was very happy to be served such a lovely thick shake in this classic American Diner! Naturally I coupled this order up with a burger and fries which was also great but the milkshake really won me over...I didn't even try the bowling...will be sure to give it a go next time! :)
this place seriously rocks, probably the most awesome night out in london i have had - the best birthday i have every had hands down. it was difficult to secure a lane when i called up but we got there in the end and everything about my experience exceeded my expectations, especially the food, which having been many times to America, was bang on and just what my friends wanted - still thinking about the chilli which is basically to die for - i challenge anyone to find a better chilli! anyway, just had to write a review as i am still on a high after my birthday there. thank you All Star!
I have worked in cocktail bars for some time now and I must say I was very impressed by not only the selections of spirits and cocktails available but also by the competent bar team here! Obviously the bowling was a lot of fun (I'm still as bad as I was on my 10th Birthday)!! The food was lovely the majority of us had the 8oz Beef Burger which I cannot criticise and the Pool Tables (apparently a recent addition) were great too! Look forward to coming back soon!!
I organised my husband's birthday party at All Star Lanes Brick Lane and it turned out to be his BEST birthday ever! The staff are friendly and helpful - especially with organising various activities for a group. The venue is so cool, the beer selection is good (Sierra Nevada by the bottle), the diner is authentic, bowling is great and the karaoke booths are fantastic! I highly recommend All Star Lanes Brick Lane for a fun evening out with friends or for a celebration.
fantastic beer cocktails, even if Im not great at bowling it's always worth a visit for those alone...
What a fantastic day! Everyone enjoys a bit of bowling, but the All Star Lanes at Brick Lane are a different gravy! great service, friendly staff and great decor - you can't fail to have a great time there. We were there enjoying a whole afternoon of bowling in a big group and everyone loved it. The staff were really helpful arranging a competition format for us and everyone got involved. The whole theme of the place just works. I'd recommend it to anyone - perfect way to just get everyone together to catch up and have a good time.
Enjoyed the night with a group of friends at the All star Lane. The atmosphere is good, the price is average, they had a variety of cocktails which went down a storm for the group, however its not the best place for good food. Worth a try for a fun night.
one veggie option on a menu in 2010 is some kind of bad joke.
we had the great misfortune to venture into this place recently and were shall we say 'less than impressed'
the food was awful possibly the worst we have ever sampled in London
the night then took a surreal twist when a pool of raw sewerage came up through the floor.
what do you think the staff did? that's right they put some paper towels over it and roped it off with velvet rope, so it now looked like a very odd art installation.
we left when the smell was so overpowering we were gagging.
real smooth, all star lanes....
I LOVE A-S-L! I don't think it's possible to have a bad night there!
I've been for a few Christmas/Bday parties and we've always had an absolute scream. I'd probably recommend going in a group, to soak up the all-american atmosphere!
Heavenly food (try the Mac and Cheese - v.moreish!), not to mention the milkshakes and cocktails! And great music too, if you fancy a boogie while you bowl!
But the cherry on the (pecan) pie has to be the staff....gorgeous, professional and efficient...what more could you ask for?
Make it top of your list for check out in 2010 if you haven't already!
I knew I was in for a bad time as I approached the bar and a highly coiffed barman who was scoffing chocolate cake from fat fingers behind the bar, made eye contact then neatly ducked under the counter and scuttled off to the kitchen.
It took me ages after that to get served. It wasn’t busy and there were lots of uniformed staff around but they were all looked like they had just walked out of Dresden after the Blitz.
They were bleary-eyed, dopey and confused. Not really what I was expecting in an establishment styling itself as American. The décor and menus are fantastic so I thought ‘slick, American-style, real looking after people’ service.
Boy, was I in for a disappointment, which started with a further 30 minutes wait to get one measly milkshake. We bowled, which was great. It all went downhill after that.
it did not seem to matter what I said or did, we could not get anyone to attend to our table and our guests. We went to celebrate my daughter's 10th birthday with 7 of her friends.
I had to run around trying to find someone to take the order. The food came out of the kitchen OK and was by all accounts palatable (though slopped in the style of a hospital dinner with not a trace of colour on anything) apart from the (compulsory to buy chocolate cake – or bring your own for the same price?!) which most of them left (how bad can it have been?).
I then couldn’t find anyone to clear the table. There was no one in charge, no system, no order and above all no desire on anyone’s part to sell us anything or bring us any food or drink.
My guest adults were left to fend for themselves, not even seated let alone offered any drinks. Two children had to leave before the food arrived and two adult guests went to the VIBE Bar next door.
Without contest my worst eating experience anywhere in the world ever. To cap it all they then tried to sting me for £40 worth of cocktails which m
We had our office party at the new All Star Lanes on Brick Lane which is enormous especially in comparison to their Holborn venue.
Im not a massive fan of bowling but i defy anyone who does not LOVE their cocktails.
And whats great about this venue is the bar is right next to the bowling – mojitos anyone??
Yes work definitely has its ups – no bottle of house white for us tonight thanks.
The food is what it says it is – good filling American diner food. Not great for your summer body but once in a while it has to be done and i can tell you its worth it.
Id suggest the chilli con carne – amazing – although ask for a big portion as they tend to be a little on the small side.
Another great office party – and if we can just impress our boss a bit more hopefully we can bag their super cool private bowling room for next year and eat canapés all night long – my fave!
They took my booking for 2 games and kicked us off after 1.
The girl behind the desk says she gets screamed every day for the same thing.
The manager could'nt even be bothered to come and talk to me.
Enough said.
I have been bowling at the Bloomsbury Lanes when it opened and was impressed by its individual style and good value.
This All Stars venue does try and clearly a lot has been spent, but you get the feeling it’s all about the money.
Terrible bowling, lanes all broken, no staff communication.
Bad food, poor vegetarian options with the only fish dish containing red meat as well but it doesn't say it on the menu.
Rude staff, all think they are too kool for skool. Better service and better staff is required.
My friends and I decided to come here the other night for a couple of drinks; we had a great time and ended up staying longer than intended.
The cocktails were great and averagely priced for the area. Service at the bar was a little slow due to the volume of people in the venue, but the staff were friendly and it was worth the wait for our drinks!
While we were there we decided that we did want to bowl, luckily they have a ‘walk-in’ lane that we put our names down on and could wait at the bar until a space came free.
It was so much fun even though we weren’t very good. I will definitely be coming back and planning a proper night here as we didn’t get to sample the food!
My boyfriend and I had been walking down Brick Lane when we passed by the Brick Lane venue and decided to pop in and check it out.
Good food, great drinks, party tunes and bowling means we'll definitely be coming back here with friends real soon.
We visited A-S-L Brick Lane. First we enquired about 2 lanes for 2 games, we were told this was fine.
Then later I booked 2 lanes for 2 games, stating it quite clearly. I’m sure you know the rest as the girl behind the counter said she ‘gets screamed at every day’ about it.
We were kicked off the lanes after 1 game. The manger couldn’t even be bothered to come and talk to me about it and told the girl over the walky talky casually to discount it, she didn’t even have to describe what had happened such was the routine off it all.
The people taking the booking were very well trained and briefed on the cancellation policy and taking full card details so they can charge you if some people don’t turn up so they quite clearly are not amateurs.
We were on a staff party for a local bar company in North and East London and will be taking every given opportunity to make sure that no-one we meet will ever use All Star Lanes.
I had already booked at All Star Lanes well in advance for my Girlfriends birthday but then I had been told of the poor reviews that it had received.
As it was a group of us and we thought it would be good fun, I decided to take a chance. Well I'm glad I did, looks like they may have just turned the corner.
Friendly welcome to begin, we were then escorted to the bar for a quick drink. This is where it the really got good, I have been before to the other sites and my girlfriend loves 'Hawai Kai Joes' they glady made one even though not on the menu.
We then ate, 'does what it says on the tin'. Burgers great, Ribs unbelievable (great portion). Lasagne good but it does take 20mins as they told me it was freshly made.
Overall food good. We shared desserts as our mains did the job. Staff very friendly and the manager was very whitty and made us feel welcome.
Bowling was great, cocktails great as always. We all had a really great night and loved the music.
But the hi-light was when the manager brought my girlfriend a cocktail and card to wish her Happy Birthday, really cheesey but so is bowling.
Will definately be back.
I recently came into All Star Lanes on Brick Lane with group of friends. I’ve never been before, but was so impressed with the place! It looks amazing!
(Plus your staff are stunning?! Wherever did you find them all!?)Bowling was really great, although I’m going to have to come back soon, as my score was not!We really liked the waitress service to the lanes, the brunette who served us was really speedy, and very charming.
Our cocktails were to die for, Go Clover club, go! (everyone should try one of these!)We didn’t eat in the restaurant on this occasion as we had just wander in off the street, but our lovely waitress explained that we can book in for dinner and bowling in advance, which I have now done, because the food on the tables as we were leaving looked really good!!!
What an excellent find All Star Lanes was for us! We’ll be back, so get the drinks ready!
As per previous comments the bowling is smart and great fun but is completely let down by the diner.
We had a table booked at 19:30 this evening, turned up 10 minutes early for it and walked out after 22:00 after only managing to get one course out of them.
We had to cancel the desserts after chasing them twice as we all had trains to catch. By this point there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant so it's not as though they were rushed off their feet in the kitchen.
As per the other reviewers we declined to pay the hopeful 12.5% service charge.I would also think twice about paying the sort of prices they are asking even if the service is half decent.
The main courses are pricey and come with absolutely nothing. You can spend £15 on a small piece of fish and then have to add some mash for £3 when you see what you are being served.
£27 for a bottle of Pinot Grigio? I don't think so.This place needs to decide whether it is an American Diner or a West End Restaurant charging West End prices. Either way it needs to up its game in terms of service. It will take a lot to tempt us back there.
I went with a group of about 8 people to the All Stars on Brick Lane last Saturday for a friend's birthday.
We had great fun with the bowling and service on the lanes being fine. However, what we got when we went to the diner for some food was beyond ridiculous.
The place was not full and yet it took them about 40 minutes to bring our food - and in some cases our drinks - out.
Mind you, I was not surprised having watched the staff getting other orders out and delivering them to the wrong tables.
On top of that our bill came with an extra £60.00 added to it including drinks and food we never ordered or some we had ordered, but never received plus a service charge we declined to pay.
We even had to ask for the bill to be ammended 3 times and had the waitress roll her eyes at us when we asked to talk to the manager.
Not even an apology. An absolute shambles.
I really don't think anyone in our party will be going back which is a shame as the food was quite nice and the (actual) bill not too bad.
Bowling was good, the bar was attractive but well over priced, didn’t have anything you wanted but did have a vastly over priced alternative E.G. no Jack Daniels just silver label single barrel (just one example of many) My main problem and the one that destroyed the hole night was with the table waiting staff we where a party of around 20 people in a diner that looked like it could seat well over 100, the place was almost empty apart from us yet they took over 30 minutes to get all of our food out of the kitchen, this resulted in people finishing their food before others even got there’s, I myself had to leave the table with out finishing my main course and not even being able to look at the desert list.
What a shame this was only the start of the problems, it was plain to see the staff getting worked up being unable to work out what plate went where with members of my party having plates just stuck in front of them even though it was not their order just to be told that we where to work it out for ourselves.
One waiter poked me 4 times in the side on three different occasions just to ask me what plate went where? this worked me up so much it was only the fact I was an guest that I didn’t make a complaint to the manager (im sure he would have been just as useless as the waiter he’s self ).
Over all the service was shocking the place was totally over priced the blowing alleys where cramped and the music was way too loud with the speakers right in you face at the alleys. All Star Lanes Brick lane is a mash of a poor cocktail bar with a crap diner (it is a long way from a restaurant) and the last 6 or so lanes of a Hollywood bowl.Save you time, go to a nice restaurant have a good meal a good drink on to a real cocktail bar if you like then on to a bigger bowling alley.P
We went to All Star Lanes for a birthday party before Christmas and had an amazing night.
Service was great despite how busy the place seemed to be, as were the cocktails at the bar.
We ate in the restaurant, where I had an authentic american burger and delicious malt shake (beats Automat hands down)
As far as the bowling goes, there is simply not a smarter, more fun place to do it anywhere
We went to All Stars for our Christmas party and booked the £28 Christmas offer. Despite specifically questioning whether this included bowling, and being informed that it did, it transpired on the evening that it didn't.
Instead of the staff apologising and offering to find solutions, they were rude, sarcastic, and very unhelpful.
The food was mediocre at best. The foie gras was nothing more than pate, and the turkey dinner looked like it was straight out of a Bernard Matthew's packet.
Eventually we managed to go bowling, which I must admit was great fun, but the shine was taken off the evening by the staff's attitude.
After this appalling service we decided not to pay the 12.5% service charge, which was then aggressively questioned by a member of bar staff. The same person who was too busy talking to her colleagues that she put through a bill of £76,000 on my friend's credit card & then told her it was her fault as she should have checked?!
Until some intensive customer service training has taken place, stay way clear of this place!
