Top night last Friday as always at Anaya. One of the best Mayfair spots - see ya in June when we're back in London :)
I went to Anaya on a last Friday night (27/4/12) with a group of boys and girls. Had no problems getting in and got free entry (before 11pm). Spirits were a bit pricey but that's to be expected for a London Club especially in Mayfair! Though saying that wine was not badly priced and there was a cocktail offer on up until 11pm (only £5). The music was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Some girls were getting rude to me and my boyfriend and were trying to start a fight with us so I told one of the waiters who got one of the bouncers immediately. I was very impressed! On the whole I had a really good night!
Went for a birthday last Friday with 6 other girls. We got lots of table room at the start of the night which was great. The music is far better than other clubs in Mayfair - mainly hip hop/R&B. Club isn't huge but it's really modern and clean. Definitely recommended if you're celebrating a birthday or want a change from the usual lame music they play at other clubs.
After reading all the views bad and good about Anaya, i was worried to go but it was my birthday and i celebrated it last night and i loved it. There was me and 10 girlfriends we had a table we got took to are table and the waitress was lovely, music was fab and so was the staff i would advise anyone who is looking to go to Anaya arrive early and book a table you will not be disappointed i will be back.
I went as part of group of around 10 females. I called up in advance and asked about the age restrictions and was told that 18+ was the required age. (The youngest member was 18). The female bouncer at the front took one look at my friend and said we weren't allowed entry. Without sounding biased, we are a good looking group of girls. We just didn't fit into the 'I'm above 5"5, size 6, hair extensions and fake tan' category. The excuse for not allowing us to come in was 'You are too young. Get out of the queue.' Our i.d's CLEARLY proved that we were over 18. I think it's disgusting how the female bouncer can refuse entry purely based on looks! The girls in front of us (who we were talking to) were also 18 and 3 girls down were also 18-19. I can not believe what a bitch the woman was. Mt sister was in tears as we were out celebrating her birthday, but we found somewhere with more hospitality to spend our money. Too bad, they missed out on a few hundred just by judging us. How silly.
Please don't even waste your time going to this dump!!! A night out down Romford is 1000 times better!Where do i start?? My friends birthday yet he wasn't allowed entry in because he had a tattoo on his neck. Was told he would be allowed in if he bought a table for the night. But declined when he found out they wanted £500. Ridiculous. I love clubbing and it's atmosphere but unless you like being packed out like a sardine with no room to dance or no where to sit down and getting barges by everyone then go for it. Music was shit. I'm into r+b hiphop garage old school etc only knew about 2 of the songs. Vodka + mixer is £12.50 !! And glass of wine £7.50You could buy your own bottles for that price. There are only 2 cubicles in the ladies toilets so you had to que for about 10 minutes. No cloak room so everyones coats all sprawled out on the seats, with the lack of room as it is this doesn't help as all especially standing in heals all night. All in all what a waste of money. If you're goin by a promoter on their guest list claiming to get "free drinks" you don't get any until you've been in their for about an hour and you only get about two.My friend and I went out for a cigarette and the bouncer wouldnt let her back in because he thought she was drunk and made us sit out in the freezing cold until she had 'sobared up'Please avoid at all costs. If any of the above you don't mind then go for it. But don't say I didn't warn ya!
Read the last review from Desm and thought I'd give this place a try. Never heard of it before and I'm so sick of going to the same old places in London. We were a mixed group of guys and girls and got a table. Must say absolutely loved the decor and the music. Table service was great and the waitress even suggested we move to the V.I.P where we took our party to another level. The club is really cozy which I love the only draw back is the toilets they are tiny but no club is perfect and I don't intend to spend my night in the loos. But I still love this place and it's going to be my regular little spot.
Sickest music in West End. At a table club anyway!
Ok.. i have been here about 4 times on a Saturday and a couple of Thursdays.I dont usually write reviews but i feel like with all the hating i really need too as i actually quite like this little club. The music on a Saturday is sickkkkkkkk. RnB tunes ALL night that you just dont get at other clubs in town, they just play 1 or 2 tunes then back to the cheese. I reckon the doorman have to be pretty burly to keep what could be a rowdy crowd in order as i have never seen any trouble down there.Thursdays was also fun too... its a bit of a towie crowd and the music is house. Loads of hot birds to look at.If you want an Urban table / members club then this is most def the place to go.
The 3 reviews below all written on the same day are clearly management! This place is a TOTAL DUMP. There was absolutely no help with trying to book a table for the weekend (even after their supposed refurb), we called numerous times and were told manager wasn't available, but the person who's birthday it was for some reason wanted to go here so we did. In a word, Awful. There is literally no service at all, they seem not to care in the slightest about anything, staff are so arrogant they think they are above you, the bouncers are dreadful, complete yobs trying to be above their status who make you queue even though it's pretty empty inside. When we complained, the woman who was supposed to be the manager told us that if we didn't like it we could get lost, which we did and had a better night somewhere else.
Avoid like the plague just like the other genuine reviews suggest. More than happy to give a more detailed account to anyone else.
Had an excellent night out. Booked a table through there events team for my birthday. Everything was well run and the staff were really lovely including the waitresses which usually doesn’t happen in clubs haha!! Definitely recommend going there on a night out. Went after my birthday aswell with a few of my girls and we didn’t have a table just went through Anaya's Guest List but had a great time. Can’t say enough about this place!! Reading past comments this place has obviously changed massively because right now this place is my fav. Little hot spot of mayfair!
Ahhh went here on Thursday night. The music was too good. Haven’t been there since it has had the refurb. And WOW what a difference that has made. Feels like a different club, It was full and lively…Crowed was decent!!
Definitely recommend going to this place. Had such a good night. My girlfriends and I went on Saturday and so much fun. Great crowed and music. Not pretentious in the slightest unlike most London clubs. The staff were even nice! I lost my watch on the floor and the guy cleaning the glasses helped me look for it with his torch! Thankfully I found it! Had a great night! Definitely be going back.
What a dump, don't bother waste your time, there are far better places to spend your money on a Saturday night. You would think a paid for in advance VIP birthday reservation would be enough to get in, apparently not. Rejected on the door for no given reason, who knows why as the whole group 10-14 people were well turned out and completely sober + looking to spend a small fortune at the bar. Result ended in birthday girl in tears and seemingly endless wandering around London to find some where else to go... in short, don't go, save your self the hassle...
I purchased a ticket for the New Years Eve event at Anaya for £35 last night.
Firstly, it was A LOT smaller than I thought it was going to be, basically one room, and the "VIP" sections are the sofas. So if you don't want to spend hundreds on pounds to sit down, you will be on your feet all night. Also, the drinks are very expensive, around £14 for an average drink so be prepared to spend money.
But, with that being said, the music was fantastic all night long. The dancefloor was just the right size, not overly squashed or overcrowded.
The bouncers treated us with respect, no problems there whatsoever.
It was not overly hot and had great ventilation. And there was an abundance of staff so any spillages on the floor got cleared up straightaway.
All in all- great night in Mayfair, good club if you like R&B, but if you do not want to spend money to have a good time then avoid Anaya.
RIP OFF Club: I purchased four tickets at £35 each for Anaya's New Years Eve party and on the night we were all turned away for no valid reasons. Firstly we were told members of our group were too young- but no I.D. were checked and we were all old enough for the venue, secondly because we had already been drinking, thirdly because there were already too many males in the club and the finally because I asked to speak with the manager we were turn away as I was to animated. We witnessed in the 20-30 minutes of trying to reason with the door staff more people with tickets being turned away than being allowed in- again for fickle reasons. This club clearly oversold on tickets and refused people for no reasons. If you want to be ripped –off and disappointed then buy tickets for this club as they will disappoint you. When we asked for a refund the door staff tried to just move us on and push us away. This club seemed to have no morals regarding its entry system and turned people away for no reason
I arrived at approximately 10.20 for free entry which ends at 11...the bouncers took their sweet time 'checking' through peoples' bags and whether they were on the guestlist or not...the club wasn't even that busy yet - clearly so people would have to pay the entry fee!! I got to the front at 11.05 and I had to pay £20!! I head downstairs to the cloakroom where I was told I had to pay a separate amount for my jacket and umbrella...when she put them both together anyway (!)I was surprised to see how small the club was...even my house is bigger!! There's a reasonably sized dance floor...but the crowd was just so awkward and a little bit pretentious to dance, until much later when they had their drinks. A glass of red wine was £7...even though the barman was about to give me a glass of WHITE wine that I didn't order...I wanted to pay by card but you can only do so if you're spending over £10...I was going to get a shot with it...only to be told each shot is approx £10 anyway!!One thing I really did enjoy though was the music...the music is really good if you like hip-hop, funkyhouse and those kinda music. I requested a song and the dj actually played it...I would suggest the dj to play the songs a bit longer than he did rather than playing a verse or two...So. £20 entry fee is not worth it. Really NOT. It's in Mayfair but don't be fooled by the name...everything is overpriced and its nothing special. If you decide to go, get ready to be spending LOTS of money. x
Worst night out in London. Scummy promoters. Over priced awful alcohol. Crap music, shy, under confident crowd. Awkward atmosphere. And they brought over a cake for my friends birthday - took a photo and took the cake away again in seconds later (waiter kept hold of it at all times) then used the cake for photos for all the other tables. Super weird.
I have been to a fair few clubs in london and all I can say is that this place is a DIVE>>> waited 20 minutes for the people at the door to 'check' that we were on a guest list to then pay over the going rate for entrance. The door man downstairs was rude complaining that we had failed to pay and threatened to throw us out!! - We clearly had paid and had the ugly stamp to prove it. A few minutes later I was wishing he had chucked us out as he would have put us out of our misery early! Music was average R n B but there was absolutely nothing else going for this place> only go if you wish to have one of the worst nights out of your life!
I was so impressed with this venue I am now booking my friends birthdays in here! We hired it out for 2 hours prior to a club night and had a cocktail reception and canapes. I was stuck for a DJ for these two hours and they got one for me, which was excellent. We then stayed on for the club night and had a table area. We were made to feel special which is why we are going back. The staff aren't snotty like you would expect them to be in clubs like this in the West End, which was refreshing. Definitely a regular club for us!
