The ViewLondon Review
Sip, sit and snack in your very own oasis or dance until the early hours. Whatever you fancy, Babablou offers a bit of everything. The VenueSet in a Crypt of a converted church in the heart of Brixton, Babablou is an eclectic blend of Morrocan Riad meets inner-city dancing den. The open plan room features low level ceilings with sturdy wooden tables and small cushioned stools tucked into every corner. Intricately carved Morrocan shutters stand tall, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a cosy round of cocktails or intimate bottle of Champagne for two.
The AtmosphereThe roominess of the bar at Babablou often fails to warm the toes of the after-work crowd, but after midnight - once the house junkies hit the dancefloor - it soon warms up. Big groups and intimate couplings are dotted around a dancefloor filled with intelligent music heads.
The MusicFor house, funk and electro heads, Friday nights are jumping at Babablou, with DJs in rotation including The Roxtons, Timmy Detached and Femi B. Weekdays are more chilled with a mix of gyrating Urban Salsa, a comedy night and live music acts.
The DrinkCocktails come in all blends and sizes and are in full throttle on Friday, with an excellent happy hour and drink promotions. The classic mix of Martell, Benedictine and flamed orange peel in the cocktail Between The Sheets is mind tingling and reasonably priced for the area.
The Last WordIf you fancy the sights of Morocco, wrapped in the feel and buzz of a pumped up dancing vault, then it’s definitely worth canceling that Easy-jet flight and checking out Babablou.
