Absolutley awful place, we went with a group of friends after having lunch for a birthday, we arrived at babble and ther was only our group and another group there, my friends went to the bar and waited for 10 minuites trying to get served whne there was no one else at the bar, then the bar man decided to serve his 'friends' instead and still didnt bother serving them after! The Manager was also very rude and clearly up his own arse, being a young group of girls in their 20's,he obviously thought we wouldnt spend any money, but obviously he thought wrong. Working for a bar myself I was shocked at how awful the customer service was and how rude the staff were being.I will certainly never go back to this place again

I work just down the street from Babble and it has become my local bar. I like the attentive staff and the vibrant happy hour. One thing I did learn is that on busier days if you don't book a table there's pretty much no chance of sitting, which is fair enough being that it is busy! Early days of the week it's more likely to find a place to seat.
I really like the crowd that visits Babble, age between 25-35yrs, like minded and up for a laugh. Food/drinks and atmosphere are also great so,
cannot fault this venue!

Babble bar cheated me - please be careful. I ordered 'single' drinks for a group of friends and didn't notice that the bar tender (downstairs) had billed me for doubles. For a few drinks it was quite an 'extra' amount.

I complained to them the next day but they wouldn't refund.

The atmosphere is great.
However the music is too loud, we just have to scream to talk with each other. Besides, the service is terrible. Booked for 5 person, one day earlier and surprise that there are NO table provided to us despite opening a bottle cost £180.

We ended sitting on the crowded bar. Imagine someone who just drink a Cocktail glass has a table and someone paying £180 ended up on a bar. Sure never to be there anymore. Practically, no one gives a sh.it or cares where you sit AFTER you open the bottle. rip off place.

ABSOLUTELY loved Babble for the office Christmas party. I was given the short straw of organising it this year, and if any of you have organised an office party it is stressful. The team at Babble were amazing, literally took over, helped me with ideas and created an office party that should go down in history! I was bowled over by the great drinks prices and the flexibility of moving from upstairs (where we were eating) to downstairs for some of the younger members of the party to have a good dance!I cannot fault the bar staff and management either, they were attentive with our pre-order, continuously topping us up on drinks, and we had a point of contact made clear to us at the start of the night from one of the girls from the office. We couldn't have found a better place to have our office party. We have already popped a booking in for January for some drinks with clients and we hope that they also love the venue. Perfect place to celebrate with friends, colleagues and have a fab time. My only little niggle was that I requested my favorite power ballad to the DJ and he very swiftly vetoed it!!! ;((Another little lovely addition was the personalised Christmas email from the team at Babble!!!)

Cocktail making classes for my friends birthday - AMAZING. If you want something different to do for a birthday that's fun and reasonable then I would highly recommend this... not that I remember most of the evening (always a sign of a good night!).

Normally vacating the quiet pubs along the back streets of Shepherds market myself and my colleagues were forced out of our regular haunt as the venue, to our disappointment, had been privately hired for a Christmas Party. We stumbled across Babble Bar and were pleasantly surprised. A wide selection of bottled beers, friendly bar staff and a great happy hour (including food). The only downside being the beer available on Happy-Hour is just one- Staropramen (not my tipple of choice). Regardless, we had a lovely evening and will be back in the New Year.
Seasons greetings to everyone.

As a cocktail crazy lady our weekend trip from Nottingham from London was for me ALL about trying as many different cocktails as possible.

Babble didnt let me down. £4.50 in Happy Hour for a wide selection of great cocktails. Im currently writing reveiws for all the bars we visited that weekend (getting some ideas for the bar im opening soon in Nottingham-fingers crossed) and Babble was one of my faves. HANDS DOWN.

Highly recomend a visit for some amazing cocktails, great music and lovely clientel.

Loved it and will be back next time im in London.

Bit sceptical at first based on a few negative reviews below, but must say me and my friends had a fantastic evening celebrating my friends 30th. And I can’t imagine for the life of me what these people are moaning about!. We had purchased a Prestige package for the 11 of us which was £220.00 for this we received a lovely area, entry and cue jump as well as a selection of alcohol and food. It was an ideal way to start the evening and really good value for money. On top of this , the staff were friendly, especially the managers and host on the door. I loved it so much ive already booked my 30th birthday there for November. If you want a good, cheap night out with a nice bunch of people Babble is for you. Highly recomended.

I booked Babble last Friday for a after work drinks with my colleagues. We frequent numerous venues in Mayfair as our work is largely client based, therefore we are always on the hunt for new venues to entertain them.
I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable drinks, buzzing atmosphere and great service. I do not normally bother writing reviews online however felt the need to as to be able to buy a bottle of wine at £9.50 during Happy Hour in Mayfair is great.

We arrived about 6pm and after a few hours upstairs headed downstairs to the club section where myself and my team stayed until closing time... (still feeling the effects of such a heavy night a week later- the downside of partying at the age of 50!)

The main downside is the lack of outside space. It’s a shame there isn’t more. The outside space they do have though is very nice with great views over Berkeley Square.

Will definitely be back..

Booked Babble after much deliberation for my sister's hen do. Was hesitant at first but they really pulled out all the stops. Reservation people were lovely and made sure we had all the balloons etc that we wanted. Was a great vibe on Saturday night and prices were decent for the area. Bottle of wine for around £12 for Mayfair prices impressed us all. Definitely recommend. We'll be back minus the hen, as she's a boring married woman now! haha

Went to Babble last Saturday and had the most amazing night. We was celebrating my friends birthday and we could not have asked for a better place to spend it!!!! Everything from the very welcoming front door team, to service at the bar to even the cloak room girl was out standing. We danced all night long with endless great cocktails and champagne and even received a complimentary huge sharing birthday cocktail. I would recommend this bar to any one. I cant wait to go back :) :)

Don't bother. For the amount you are paying there are plenty of better options in the area that treat you with respect.

And also after spending around £10 on a drink the bouncers will help you finish it at closing time by unceremoniously throwing your drink out, before frog-marching you to the door. The place has no class at all.

Be warned, although this bar looks nice and the music isn't bad, you will be ripped off.

I have been here several times and the bar service has always been very slow even when the bar is empty.

My worst experience though was on Saturday night. Firstly, we had drinks after queuing at the bar for 10mins and there was a 12.5% service charge that you are not made aware of. This receipt showing the 12.5% is only given to you at the END of the transaction after the credit card machine has offered a second gratuity option. Therefore you tip twice without realising.

The complete lack of transparency in this transaction is disrespectful. We bought 2 bottles of champagne & cocktails throughout the night...I dread to think how much money was taken off us for BAR service that we don't have the receipts for.

I've emailed the bar and am interested to see how they'll explain their rip-off actions away.

Appalling !
Went to Babble on Saturday night for a friends 30th birthday. we had booked and paid the booking fee only to arrive and find an eastern European chap sat at one of our tables refusing to leave inspite of the "Reserved VIP".. a cocktail waitress came around and tried reasoning with the chap who simply ignored her... she went around to fetch the manager who came around and asked him to make way… by then his Mrs. joined him at the table and they simply refused to leave..
Instead of dealing with them the manager turned to us and goes “er.. I tried but these guys wont budge can I move u guys around to another place till they leave ?? ” I said I haven’t got a problem moving to another table provided it wasn’t cramped and if he could give us a definite time by which we could have the tables back regardless of if the occupants finished or not.. so he then gets agitated and turns on me and says “I’m trying to do you a favour and u are ruining it for yourself” I was furious by then.. Simply because we spent around 30 mins trying to diffuse this.. and he was showing us attitude & being rude.. I don’t understand why they can’t eject someone out of seats when the people who have made reservations have paid in advance and have a party of friends to entertain..
A couple of lads on the nearby table saw this and called the “trespassers” on to their table and we got our tables to ourselves
Absolute shambles… wont ever go back there again..I know a lot of other trendy bars around there who would be glad to treat us fair & make some money of us.
PS: Glad we didn’t take the offer to move to a crappy crammed table cos the “trespassers” were sat there till 15 mins before we left..

Had a great evening and the area reserved was great, with enough space for everyone. The cocktails were really good, except the service wasn't quick enough during happy hours (probably because of the happy hours cocktails?). Apart from that, in all it was a great night and venue, and will be returning in the future...

Rubbish! This is one of the worst bars I think I have ever been to. I was at Babble on Saturday night for a joint 30th birthday.

We had reserved an area for 20 of us as we knew it would be busy. We arrived nice and early and found the area they had put aside, a both behind the DJ box that would comfortably seat around 6 people. When we pointed out to the barman that it was very nice but there were quite a few of us and we would never fit 20 people here. We were told they had before and pretty much dismissed, fine. We asked if we could swap our tables to another one with a bit more room. They begrudgingly said it was OK.

We then came to ordering the drinks and a can honestly say I have never been served by a ruder barman in my entire life, arrogant, obnoxious and coked off his head. Around 5-6 of our party bought drinks from the bar at some point during the night and all came back (eventually, not easy to get served unless you know them personally) saying the same thing 'who's the rude d**k behind the bar?'

The only reason we stayed is because the drinks were relatively cheap and we were enjoying each others company

As to visiting Babble again, no chance, I wouldn't piss on it if it was on fire!

I had been with my friends last weekend and had a wonderful time at babble. The time we visited was a happy hour and all cocktails were at £4.50. The drinks were lovely and prepared with fresh ingredients. The barman was too good in preparing the drinks. The tapas were good as well , but the only thing that we didn't enjoy was the boring tunes played by the DJ from 5- 9pm . The DJ was playing songs for himself and didn't care whether the crowd was enjoying or not. he finally started playing some good tunes past 10pm. but by that time we we had enough entertainment and made up our mind to leave. We will definitely visit babble for the drinks and hope so they start playing some quality music.

Severely disappointed by this venue. I was contacted 10 days ago by Donna who told me I has "won" a free night out at Babble in a competition. Free entry, a VIP table and complimentary entrance cocktails for me and 10 guests.

Not only we not have a table, but we were told that actually that it is not the promotion that they do I didn't realise I was part of a promotion, but thought I had genuinely won a night out. I had 10 guests with me, as Donna had specified, it was extremely embarrassing for me to actually tell them that I had been lied to by Babble's stafff.

Also the music was also badly mixed and the DJ was playing for himself rather than the crowd. Also full of men Even saw people dealing in there which wasn't even discreet and the staff didnt look to bothered by it!

A very disappointing night, one which I or my friends will not be returning for a repeat.

Having never been to a Mayfair night club before, i had high expectations for Babble bar.

On entering the club, the doorman/bouncer was friendly, as was the bar staff.

The drinks are cheaply priced, having frequented a large number of student nights in the past, Babble bar is an good bar for students wishing to experience Mayfair without a breaking the bank.

The music wasn't bad, tables were reserved for us, Addison Lee picked us up in 4 minutes of being called.

I had a very good experience, will definitely go again, next time during happy hour for even cheaper drinks....

I have been to Babble before and after the refurbishment.

I came there recently to celebrate my sister's birthday and couldn't believe the transformation and improvement of the venue after the refurbishment.

It looks classy and is totally Mayfair, with a sophisticated crowd.

The staff were very friendly and had our pre-ordered drinks ready upon arrival. They also had a birthday sign for my sister which was a thoughtful touch.

The DJ was fantastic and played a good mix of Funky House and Club Classics. It is very reasonably priced, the happy hour is great!!

We got a lot of our drinks in the happy hour. Sometimes the service was slow when as it got into the night- but you can only expect that in a busy club.

The hostess was very personal and attentive and looked after us all night.

I definitely reccommend Babble if you are looking for a great night out, not being ripped off, and exceptional service.

Went to Babble Bar last night and had such good time. The happy hour prices are very good (Staropromen @ £2.50) and bottles of Rose @ +/- £8.00

Food was also veru nice and we had platters to share and also baby squids - which was delicious!!!

Definately coming back as it's a great place to have a happy hour.

Went to the 'refurbished' Babble last night, the hostess was very friendly and helpful - unfortunately the waiting staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing.

Our party of 4 made the total number of guests downstairs 8...yet 15 minutes after ordering drinks at a table there was no sign of the drinks or the waitress.

After eventually finding another member of staff we enquired as to the reason for the delay. Another 10 minutes later still no sign of anything so we left.

If that's the service they offer when the bar is empty I dread to think how many days you'd have to wait to get served when busy. Will not be going back.

Saturday nights - The music at Babble isnt your usual cheesy manufactured pop or 'ive heard ths a thousand times' R'n'B'.

Expect a very cool and very cleverly mixed selection of funk, rare groove, disco, real funky house, breaks, hands in the air anthems, classic garage and only the coolest 'commercial' cuts.

This is a reflection on not only the prestigious location of Babble,in Mayfair, but also on the sophisticated and sexy crowd that attend every week.

Since the below review was written, the air conditioning has been refurbished and in August the entire venue is undergoing an exciting upgrade of decor, furnishings and layout.

Babble is by far one of the best venues in Mayfair and far exceeds some of its local competition on pricing, service and atmosphere.

If you haven't' tried Babble yet you seriously need to get down there and see for yourself !

i have been to Babble a number of numbers and i have to say it is truly the best venue in Mayfair!

The drinks are well priced, the staff are friendly, the crowd is mixed and no idiots!the only small downside is that they seem to play a lot of house and dance music and not much rnb or pop!

unless of course you like that sort of thing! Also downstairs has no ventilation system or not enough and is extremly hot! so not so much fun in the summer!

It is my belief that the staff should not interfere unnecessarily with a night out; unfortunately the manager likes to take a 'hands-on' approach and run the club from the comfort of the dancefloor.

This is not the place it was as recently as two years ago. Overall it's a tourist trap; avoid this place.

Went to Babble for a friend's birthday. She had booked and paid for an area for 25 people, however the space provided seated only 5 people ---- a bit of a pattern according to one of the other reviews!

Pints of Staropramen consistently about 10% short on fluid and only topped up grudginly and by negligible amount - still well short...
Food not bad tho

Overall a place to avoid...

I am sorry that you were disapointed with the size of your area.

It should state in confirmation of your friends booking: 'We can not guarantee your table/booth will seat every person in your party but there will be plenty standing space around your seated area'

Regarding your problem with the pint glasses.. It is clearly marked on the glass where the pint should reach before it's 5% head - We are trying to get in some new glasses in space to stop this confusion as we certainly are not trying to under pour drinks for our lovely customers!

Please contact, Emma @ Babble if you have any other questions and comments.

Thanks
Emma

Hey, Sounds like a commitment to 100% liquid beer up to the pint line, with the head above the line.

That would be a great improvement and all credit if it happens.....Any mystery shoppers out there that would like to report on how full their pint is?

By the way, as far as the Staropramen was concerned, the glasses were not the problem they were already a of a design that could easily take liquid up to the pint line.

The problem was how the bar staff had been told to fill the glasses! This should be able to be sorted out without delay!

Awful, awful place. I spotted the manager roaming the dance floor manhandling one poor guy out of the club as part of his act.

Typical London drinks prices and a lacklustre atmosphere. Do not be fooled by Babble's Mayfair address; there are much classier establishments worthy of your business in this area.

Celebrated my 22nd birthday here. It wasn't too great, it's too small and the biggest disappointment was that I had booked a booth for 20 people, which I had paid a deposit for. When I arrived they sat me and my party at a very small booth which could barely seat 5 people! After speaking to the manager I was moved upstairs, which seated all of us (although we had to split up slightly) but the dance floor was downstairs and so was the music! Not really what I had in mind for a birthday celebration. My advice for any booth bookings-ensure they give you one suitable for the size of your party!

Crowd upstairs are abit posuerish.Downstairs abit more chilled out and up for a Dance .I found the Drinks to be expensive even for the lights of the West End.Music was good.Abit of House ,Old School and even Jazz Funk .The Bongo Man was a nice touch .Good mix of people Black ,Asian, White and Polish. The Cloakroom Girl was on another Planet .Not sure you would leave your Coat there if you were in a hurry.Overal it's an O.K place to go,

Me and my favorite girlies decided to trot on down to Babble for a late night boogie and booze after spending a depressing raining day in our local pub. On arrival to Babble we were greeted by an ever so friendly door man who kindly let us on for free. Wow, Bonus!!(Even though it was only £8, Bargin!).I was over whelmed by the amount of people in the venue as it was quite late in the evening. The atmosphere was pumping and the customers seemed happy. With Babble being in Mayfair we expected to find lots of business men suited and booted but the clientele was funky, smart, casual and again very mixed! After getting ourselves some sexy champagne cocktails at the bar, (which I must comment on the great service- we didn’t wait too long and the prices are brill!) we waltzed on down into Babbles basement bar area to have a little boogie. I was chuffed to bits when I seen that there was a bongo man-yey! We all love a bit of live percussion from time to time! The music was funky and soulful with boogie and disco being the main vibe. RnB was dropped in from time to time - it was great to see that there was music for all tastes! We had a lovely evening all in all – and to top it off there was even a chauffer service outside. The heels were off and the manager kindly made sure we got home safely. I would recommend this venue to all of my friends and will most defiantly be returning!

The drinks were well priced. I ordered two double vodka and Red Bull and only paid £8! Wow!

The music later on, during the night, was a mix of funky house and chill out. All in all, I had a wonderful night and the booth set up downstairs is very intimate and cosy. I advise anyone going out in Central London to check Babble out! 5 stars!

I came here in a foursome on my recommendation (I came here about four years ago) and my goodness how things have changed. This used to be a lovely civilised little bar with polite bar staff and a classy clientele.

We arrived to teenagers throwing up on the doorstep and were charged to get in. We decided to go downstairs as the upstairs was so crowded but our attempts were thwarted when we were shouted at by the bouncer to get off the stairs.

We went back up to get a drink. We managed to get a seat in a corner out the way of the heaving groups of teens. Each time one of us went to the bar we came back quoting a different amount for the drinks and on the third round (of which I ordered two vodka, lime and lemonades) there was no vodka in it. I went back to the bar and at first the bar man argued with me, then eventually made me another two.

The complaints I have about this bar could go on and on, but I don't have enough room, so just be warned. This is the worst bar I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. Avoid at all costs.

I generally had a good time at Babble - the music was good, the drinks were reasonably priced and the service was quite quick. However, the staff were quite moody. The venue is quite small and overcrowded. There is literally no space to move let alone dance.

Also, it does get extremely hot in there - you'll find that everyones clothes are wet from the sweat. They did have a couple of fans near the bar but that's about it - Babble really do need to get air con asap or not let that many people in.
