Went to Cable for the first time in February for a DnB night and it was AMAZING! Music was off the hook, staff and bouncers were nice enough, crowd was friendly too. Get there early if you don't have a ticket. Even if you have a ticket, it could be a bit of a wait. Dance floor gets really hot and sticky too so don't have too many layers on :)
Went cable at 6am for after party for jaded. Banging place, if you like dirty, grimey sweatyplaces with people who are constantly stomping then go here. Djs playing pure dirty tech house for hours. Cannot wait to go In there again and just stomp until its over!
I was on the xmas party and i really enjoyed it.
pros:
- security was absolutely nice
- music quality in the main chamber was awesome
- girls were super friendly, people were great in general
- the place is VERY industrial
cons:
- the service at the bar was very slow
- music in the main chamber started relatively late and the sound quality in the bar area is not the best.
will definitely go back.
Horrible abusive door staff. Told us to f off when we politely asked how long it would take to get in. After waiting for am hour in the queue they didn't let us in for no good reason. The door staff included a guy in jeans who was not uniformed and was man handling people for no good reason. The club and music may be amazing inside i foot know but the door staff need to be changed as they are very unprofessional. Can understand bouncers being rude to people who are drunk and aggressive but there guys were just appalling for no reason whatsoever. If you do not like to be insulted without reason then do not bother with this place .
This club could not be worse. I went for the Halloween in the Dark party and it was an hour before we were let in the club. We had to queue up in the cold while they completely ignored us and let in people who weren't even in the line DESPITE BUYING THE TICKETS IN ADVANCE. Usually you don't expect to wait so long when you have advance tickets. I could only feel sorry for those who hadn't bought their tickets in advance who had to wait ages in the longest queue I've ever seen - seriously it went all the way down the tunnel.Once inside, the music was good but dealing with the bar staff took another 10 minutes each time, only to be told that we could no longer pay by card. The lady at the bar even had the cheek to tell me that they weren't allowing anyone to pay by card all night despite the fact that I'd already paid using my card on two occasions already. So we were sent to their cash machines which of-course charge for withdrawals which explains the no-card policy at the bar I suppose. As it turns out, sometimes the machines work, sometimes they don't. Several people had to walk away without money while others were successful. The only good thing about the night was the great music. But I will never be going back to Cable ever again!!
cable is a very good club, and has filled the vacuum in londons club scene for the raving fraternity where defunct clubs such as turnmills, the cross and the end, left off.
the nights the club caters for are from outside promoters, so you will find different music and a different crowd each night/morning. however, these promotions are always credible, so expect good solid underground dance music, and a friendly, up for it crowd.
the venue itself is quite basic, sort of a mini fabric, with 2 rooms, a bar area which doubles up an an extra room, and an upstairs chill out area where the toilets are.
at the door you will find firm yet friendly security, who will subject you to a search, standard for clubs of this type. once past, you will encounter a usually friendly girl on the desk where you will be expected to hand over in the region of £10-£15, again standard (and worth it) for this type of club.
you will not be hassled by over zealous security again for your night, and are free to explore the rooms, which have a dark and underground feel with more than ample soundsystems.
nights at cable can be hedonistic and pumping, yet you can chill out upstairs and make new friends in the smoking area.
certainly a club to be recommended, although not to the commercial clubber or clueless tourist, as you will moan its expensive and the music is repetative, but thats becasue this club is not designed for you. its designed for clubbers in the know, who are here to have a good time to wicked music. so, enjoy yourselves!
Cable is London’s new underground gem. As Lucy22 wrote, it has consistently great line ups of cutting edge dance music. Whether it’s Goldie’s’ seminal DnB night ‘Metalheadz’, club lands official after party ‘Jaded’ or nights like ‘Bugged Out’ or ‘Chew the Fat!’ there’s something for all underground tastes.
You WON’T find nights full of eclectic music or any cheesy pop, you will find nights tailor made for devotees of particular underground genres – who want to hear that particular genre all night.
If you DON’T bear this in mind you might feel like Acer – that it’s all a bit monotonous, but you’d be missing the whole point of a club like Cable – it’s for underground headz listening to a night of underground music of their choice.
The security is good not overbearing, but firmly in control. The styling is good, retaining original brickwork with a minimalist vibe throughout. The lighting has been improved in the main room with the addition of an LED system and laser to spice things up (it was a bit TOO minimal before). Unlike Misc, I always find the A/C to be sufficient. The one area that they have skimped is the toilets – oh there’s plenty of them, but really, no seats on the lavs in the men’s – very strange. Not that I’ve ever been caught short there, but if I ever was I’d be effed! I also agree with Rocketgirlzoo, the smoking area, while big, needs a little smartening up.
Very importantly for me the sound is great, Nova sound systems throughout and a sound engineer who is meticulous (I’ve spoken to him a few times and he really knows his stuff – quite a sound obsessive, but I guess that’s the type of engineer you’d want if you ran a club!)
As I’m in to most underground styles Cable has been a breath of fresh air and I’ve been there pretty much every week since it opened.
I won’t give it 5 (no where is perfect), but if you’re an underground clubber Cable offers a larger scale underground experience and it does so very well! Get yourself down there!
I go to cable almost every week-end since they have open, I really believe it is one of the best club in London; the great atmosphere in there is given by the music, the nice "style" of the venue and also by the very friendly and efficient staff. Everybody in there is kind and professional, from the manager to bar staff and security.
However I have to say that I have been there last night and notice a few changes, the new DJ booth in the main bar has nothing to do with the style of the all club, it looks odd, it looks more like a wood oven for pizza, but I hope it is still "working progress" and it's not gonna stay like that.
What worry me more than the DJ booth are the new lights at the main bar, above the terrace where the toilets are. Those look like Christmas lights, and they give a very cheesy and cheap look to what is a great, and unique is his style night club.
This is not only my opinion as all my friend I was with had exactly the same impression.
Cable so far has been the best thing happen in London for clubbers's life.
Please don't ruin it.
The lineup of DJs at this club is consistently one of the best in England.
I guess they believe that the MEGA sound-system is reserved only for the best DJs. They do not let any old dj play on their system...Raw and Friendly best describes this true-pure clubbers paradise.Weatherall-Fake Blood-Will Saul-Circo loco and get physical and every top music label doing nights there. Just look at their website or facebook page.
Efficient bar staff and really kind security with loo attendants in the spacious clean toilets..
A car service outside and Boris the Mayors office is 100 metres away.
Fabric and Ministry must be panicking that this new place cable is going to take the top spot for best dance club. For me this the coolest underground club in London. Hopefully they will start selling the music on a cd or their website like Ministry do.I asked to buy a t-shirt and the barman took his off and gave it to me. They don't sell them.MEGA COOL PLACE.I keep going back.
I went Friday night a few weeks ago and found the music monotonous and sanitised, the dance-floor almost empty with most of the crowd, mainly European, smoking outside. It was 20 quid in, not 15, and the reason spirits are cheaper than most clubs is that the shots are half measures. Watch out for the min £20 charge to pay by card as my experience was they didn't mention this before presenting the pin machine - I had even asked if I could pay by card before ordering drinks. This significantly increase your bill for 2 beers! If you choose not to pay, you are escorted from the premises. Maybe I was there on a bad night but man, do they do bad good! I don't recognise this place from the reviews already posted.....
This has to be the best club I've recently visited in London and the South of London for that matter. The people behind this one, really understand their market and it shows, not only do they offer an excellent understanding of crowd pulling names, underground dj names that still cause a stir, they totally understand how to treat the customer and from the onset, I have never been to a club where the door staff where so friendly on the way in & out. The seem genuinely happy to have you there, and are very accommodating, which sets the whole tone once your in.
Love the industrial look and feel of Cable, the main room, feels big, tall ceilings and airy, so it really makes you experience a good atmosphere with the music. Love the initial chill out space when you walk in. Drinks are reasonable. Back room always interesting. My only grip is, please please make the smoking space more inviting and accommodating for people to go to, this will keep people happy when socialising with others outside. But I know its a way to keep peeps inside, where they should be enjoying the banging and brilliant nights when you totally get it right with the music choice! Well done!
Went Friday 31/07/09 and had the most wicked night.
Great atmosphere, the staff were great and most importantly the music was banging.
Totally loving it at will going again and again
Very exciting new club, Very pleased with the atmosphere. Music was amazing and staff very friendly.
Lovely big spaces ensured you never got over heated.
If you like raving you will not be disappointed.
Visited Cable in june and was very impressed by this little gem of a club.
2 dance floors provided a great mix of beats (progressive tech house with a whiff of indie funk in the main, the second served up old skool and drum & bass with an underlying vibe of trance classics thrown in for good measure) Quing was kept to minimal, drinks were standard london club prices £4 bottle beer £2 water.
I'd suggest hot footing it down there on a fri or sat night if your the sort of clubber who likes to 'get down with the funky beats' till the early hours because you wont be disappointed.
One gripe, stop being so tight mr manager and turn the air conditioning on! Main room far too hot!
Attended "Bugged Out" on the 20th June and wasn't disappointed. My first visit to Cable and although it has a similarity to Fabric this was a superb night.
Drinks are reasonable, service quick and plenty of seating to put your feet up.
Only one slight criticism-room one became hotter and hotter as the night wore on (5am) and although air conditioning is installed, you only received a brief 10 minute squirt before returning back to sweating your backside off!
Overall a brilliant club for the seasonal clubber!
It is always a great disappointment if you buy the tickets in advance and then the main act does not shows up.
Fortunately the manager refund us the money without any problems.
I must say that I didnt like it when at the cloakroom they asked me to give my thumb print ,
but then ,later on when, (as always !!!) I lost my ticket ,I was very impress with this new system.
Great venue and great staff.
This club is a working in progress and you can see it ,but when will be finished will be the best in London.
Friendly bar staff and resonable prices ,but not enough sitting areas .
Sound system 10/10 but the lighting especially in the main bar needs to be improved .
Carlito
Quite a nice club and much bigger than I expected it to be. Reminds me a bit of Fabric.
Loads of cubicles in the toilets and drinks aren't so bad (£4 for spirit and mixer) but I found that the staff are very slow at serving and they were putting shots in champagne glasses as they had no shot glasses.
Definitely a club to go and check out if you're a raver.
