Husband and i went here for a special Christmas night out Saturday 19th December 2011. We decided to choose this place as it gave us a great excuse to dust off our best glad rags and really go to town for the even. We booked for the Wam Bam show all done through the internet and this was quite easy, one thing they could do is to send you a E-mail to say that tickets are not sent in the post but that you will have to print off your Tickets to take - We nearly left the house without them and if it wasn't for my quick thinking in checking my e-mail I wouldn't have know otherwise. We arrived a little late (show starts at 7pm and we arrived just after 8pm. We walked straight in and was welcomed by a lovely polite lady on the desk who proceeded to explain everything to us, where the cloak room was, toilets, bar etc. Cloak room staff, lovely and helpful and I believe it was free to hang our coats. The club decor - beautiful (just what we expected) and colourful. The toilets - exceptionally clean to include a lovely toilet attendant in the ladies who added to the atmosphere with beautiful song :O) The show -a good mixture,comedy/dance/cabaret - including audience participation too. On arrival we found the place not pack - just enough people so loads of room to wander round to explore the place. There was limited seating - unless you had pre-booked a table on the balcony which I understand can be quite expensive and comes with a minimum drinks spend. Then Swiftly at 10pm once the show has finished everyone was ushered into the side room, Lush almost sexy with beds and an additional bar while they cleared the main floor in ready for the nightclub to kick in — then the party started and the club filled. Music pumpin, everyone in their best dress, no teenagers or louts, just a bunch of really nice people all out for a good time. The only down side to the club is the drinks prices are extortionate - by bottles of wine if drinking, much cheaper then buying by the glass.
the venue has so much potential but is let down by woefully poor staff. bad attitudes, bad service... a real shame.
I've been to Cafe 3 times and only actually gained entry once. The door staff at this club are horrific and vile. I understand that as bouncers they can't take crap from punters but seriously there is no need for the attitude and pure disrespect they give to you. The most recent time we were turned away because a group of boys in front of us in the queue got turned away and in a desperate plea to get in told the bouncer they were with us so we were kicked out of the queue and told to leave.
To be honest, even when inside the club is a bit of a let down, drinks are ridiculously expensive, and the club empties out by 2 o'clock leaving a few stragglers on the dance-floor. Overall a very over rated, over priced mediocre club with rude staff.
A stylish venue let down by rather rude staff who act is they're extras from a Russian mafia film. Also beware of being charged 12.5% extra for drinks even if ordered at the bar! I was quoted one price, then handed a card machine to enter my PIN to find it had a completely different figure - about £10 more added - I think the is amounts to fraud, and regardless of the legality of it is reflective of a venue that seems to care more about screwing as much money as possibly out of its customers rather than providing fair and honest service.
I celebrated my birthday there last November. Had a lovely time. Great atmosphere. Not very expensive when sharing with group of friends. Would definitely recommend!! Enjoy! :)
Went to Wam Bam for the second time last night with a group of friends. We loved the show the first time we went but they seem to have replaced glamour and classy showgirls with tacky routines that seem to feature men with their tops off for the sole purpose of making hen parties scream.
Cafe de Paris was packed to the point we were forced to sit on the stairs to get a decent view, not what you expect when you have to pay that much for a ticket! Lady Alex is a superb host for the show and has got even better from the last time I saw her but she should stick to what she's good at as her actual routines look really shoddy when they're up against some stunning burlesque girls.
The improvising hip hop duo were incredible and well deserving of their standing ovation, as were the dance trio, the drag act and the acrobats but the rest seemed like weak filler.
Certainly not worth the ticket price (and obscene drinks prices!) and they seem to have gone from being the classiest show in town to just providing amateur, tacky "entertainment" for hen parties.
We went to la reve at cafe de Paris last night and i have to say it was absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing, the staff extremely friendly and helpful and the cabaret show was the best I've seen. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews of this place but myself and my 13 guests thought it was fantastic.
I regret to be in this club on 13/08/2011, I and my girlfriend model really fancy dressed and in a mood to show off a bit one in a year went to this club expecting to get a spell of Parisian politeness and high customer service what we know from trips to Paris. Ok they let us in with discount so we paid 15pound each. But men no in million years I expect to meet such a rood attitude from a bouncer inside. He looked like a character from hora movie not to say more. An a way how he asked us to leave a patch between stairs where we stood with drinks and chat was way too much for us to stay in this club! We moved slowly but he urged us twice! However, here is nothing to complain about the interior but the staff of club has to be changed if this place is going to succeed! So chaps just avoid, find other option to indulge yourself in the centre.
