where do i start?

Candy bar is a money grabbing hell hole. It's a doubles bar so you're conned into paying more for their mistake. Bar maids are full-a-crap and the djs are forced to play what the management requests, no matter what the customers want.

I used to like going to the Candy bar, however, now it is a total no-no. To start with, the drinks are ridiculously expensive, some of the staff are way too rude and have no idea of what customer service means whatsoever (I should also add, they are cocky and bigheaded - God knows why!).

Thirdly, the manager is an ode to incompetence and rudeness. If you pay that amount of money for an average drink in an average bar, you expect a bit more from the staff. Most definitely not going back to Candy Bar.

Okay, at least it's good to see a bar full of women having fun in a relaxed atmosphere, but the bar tenders at the Candy Bar! Please, relax girls! Who do you think you are? A bit of politeness should be due to customers but apparently you Candy Bar staff don't think so. You big headed....

The Candy Bar is atrocious. I've been there too many times and each time have been left with the distinct impression it is the spot on the arse of humanity.

I was once robbed of my cap there and on another occasion a woman we met from America had her purse stolen. Mind you she was with a pissed up oaf, which is typical for a portion of the Candy Bar clientele, who really should have been taking better care of her friend.

Unfortunately the Candy Bar is not one of my favourites. For a start, it's too small and crowded with queueing all the way upstairs to get to the tiny dance floor. The bar staff are unapproachable and seem to think they are God's gift just cause they work in the Candy Bar.

The crowd is young, all in mandatory lesbian uniform of low slung jeans, with chain, and singlet top and Alex Parkes hairdo. You'll have a better time at FirstOut and Vespa.

Despite all the bad press that The Candy Bar has recieved recently I still love it. The new pole dancers are fantastic and The Candy Bar is still one of the hottest places in town.

Thought I'd add a slightly different perspective (being a straight guy and all - came with a female friend) even if overall conclusions are similar.

Candy Bar has a friendly atmosphere, with nice chilled out staff. Downstairs, on Saturdays at least, is a strip club, and you need to queue to get down there unless you go early. Also you don't need to pay to get in before nine (again, on Saturdays at least). It’s very smokey down there, and the toilets are pretty bad. I found it really odd to go into the men’s and find two girls making out.

Probably just over 50% of girls there look pretty tough - however the rest are your skirts and lipstick crowd. Also, it’s bizarre how much more relaxed a place like Candy Bar is without a bunch of drunken aggressive men around. That, I'd say, is the most interesting part of the whole thing. Also seems relatively easy for girls to pull (girls) there - my friends took a total stranger home.
