Corsica Studios is a non-profit event space with top quality soundsystem.

The Venue
Corsica Studios is tucked away on what seems like the shadiest and most inappropriate backstreet in London Town, meters away from the Elephant and Castle roundabout. It has an unassuming entrance that leads into the smaller of the two rooms. From here you can get to the main dancefloor, via a newly constructed corridor (back in the day all that separated the two rooms was a wire fence!) or via the partially covered outdoor smoking area. Out here is the cloakroom and sometimes an ad-hoc bar. The main room houses the bar and very little else – this place is an independent art organisation, and part time gallery. Because of this the walls are white and, apart from the odd battered leather sofa, there’s a distinct lack of seating. Party organisers are allowed to deck the place out in whatever they see fit.

The Atmosphere
The Corsica Studios calls itself an ‘independent arts organisation that sets up and develops creative spaces,’ so you can expect dome pretty alternative nights here. This venue is fairly easy to hire out for private dos, keeping the nights fresh and experimental. The studios have a license until 6am at the weekends so prepare yourself for a dirty allnighter. The crowd is very likely to have come especially for the night - passing trade is almost unheard of in here. Both bar and door staff are friendly, helpful and professional.

The Music
Generally only open at weekends, although it can be used mid-week, recent events at Corsica Studios include retro nights with rockabilly burlesque, nu-acid raves and film nights. A few reoccur every now and then, but there aren’t weekly line-ups as such. There’s a Funktion One soundsystem in each of the two main rooms. These rigs are second to none.

The Drink
The bar at Corsica Studios is low key. You’ll find around four types of bottled beer, loads of spirits, the alco-pop of choice is Smirnoff Ice and wine lovers can choose between red or white. This varies depending on who’s running the night.

The Last Word
This two roomed venue serves as a versatile blank canvas for new promoters, artists and underground parties.
