Dex is actually a favorite spot of mine as the promoters always provide the best & hottest DJs on the seen. The crowd are a melting pot of London clubbers of all ages from all walks of life.
However on my last visit to DEX I was disappointed to find the management has changed and NOT for the better. If fact the management are not managing at all it would seem. The Bar staff don't seem to know what they are doing , ordering a round of drinks was painful, our server almost fainted when I asked for more than one drink at a time. No ice,no choice of drinks, no water and only cheap spirits ( somebody has been shopping in Lidi for the sambuca ) . The lady's toilets did not even have working light bulbs and the once efficient & friendly toilet attendants were no where to be seen . I am sad to see this venue be so poorly organized and ran so unprofessionally. Come to DEX for the music, BUT don't expect a smile at the door , and don't expect any loo roll either :(

Unknown to the door team they were speaking to a off duty policeman who was less than impressed with the over fed ego's of the door staff. I hoped to have a good night out this time as my last venue into this place was not very enjoyable, but as usual the club let itself down by rude door staff and high prices.

So then if you are looking for a enjoyable night out that won't cost you a arm with door staff that have respect for their customers avoid this place at all costs.
Sorry but I speak as I find.

Hi,

Wanted to update my honest opinion on this venue. I think its changed a lot, but for the worse recently. Door staff are now very rude, obnoxious, over the top, hardly ever friendly to the people coming in an paying money, have overly exaggerated egos, that constantly need feeding... thus its a bad tone experience the moment you get to the door, once in.. You then can only order double shots, (they don't serve singles any more) at a cost of £5:00, so if I'm already playing a £10 to get in and on top of that £5:00 a drink, I might as well go somewhere else further afield and have a better night with nicer staff on the door, and reasonable drink prices.. I recently checked out the Lightbox venue down South Lambeth Road, (Just one bus ride away from the Dex) and it's brilliant, friendlier staff that appreciate your custom and you being a customer, excellent outdoor terrace space far more luxurious then the DEX, brilliant light systems, friendly people inside and a better soundsystem.. so if im going to go clubbing I'd choose LightBox or CABLE as a south london club and wouldn't bother wasting my hard earned cash with DEX, for a general miserable, ungreatful experience.

EXTROADINARY! - this was recommended by a friend Colin - this lovely guy is one of the few straight m8's I have -but I enjoy getting out of my comfort zone of the gay scene clubs - and Colin knows some amazing 'str8' venues.

Living in Brixton for four years Dex was ideal - just 5 min walk away.

Well I was not disappointed! - met Colin on Sunday 2nd Aug for the 1pm > 1am slot - the venue is perfect - rooftop - how many clubs offer this! - outdoor bbq - bar - gr8 crowd - and a new dj every 2 hours! - starting with 'minimal' house getting harder later - the crowd was so freindly and lol loads of the girls danced with me - had my arse smacked so many times - usually its guys! -

and absolutely no attitude about my sexuality - very friendly staff - OMG one of the bar boys I could not stop drooling over! -

OK if the weather is dodgy you can always try the weekend nights - the club also has an indoor room.

The music is brill - sorry guys but so many gay scene clubs are all playing same same hard house - well done DEX you got it!

Well if you want to try something new - just do it!

What an extremely pleasant surprise this was! I live locally but don't tend to go out too much in Brixton as it's not quite my crowd but on a randon Friday last week we rocked up for a friends brithday and were greeted with an utterly cool, urban and funky crowd...not what we were expecting at all but what a great mix of people. There was an amazing live band playing funked up swing and cool tunes being played outside on the roof terrace...all in all a brilliant evening and definitely warrants more of my attention....a very cool place to go from what I've seen so far and not a chav or 'bling' type in sight...super job.

To the idot that just commented below - stay away from Brixton we don't want people like you coming down and sticking your nose up!!! Brixton isn't made for ignorant and stupid idots like you - and we don't want you coming down! stay in North London where you belong! - may i also add, that youll find that camden is a lot more rougher. Dex is a brilliant atmosphere, great people, brilliant door staff, and general happy and welcoming attitude. You have to get it on the right night, make sure you know what musics down there before hand, but generally its a wicked place, just like the Prince - The Prince is my local and I love it - great staff, friendly and happy people, with good music.. its mostly a winner every time ~~~~Rocketgirlzoo xx

ummm...this is hardly an upscale place. brixton is a dump, everyone knows that, and the shabby chic thing only really works well in shoreditch. the area is dangerous and even walking form the tube station i felt uncomfortable.

Absolute rubbish swim73088 I usually go out in Camden or Shoreditch and Brixton is no more dangerous, infact I saw far fewer crackheads on the streets. Great music, great crowd and funky/venue.

Dex is one of the hippest spots Iv'e been to since being in London! Style all the way, in decour, crowd, and service. And you can't argue with a bar that's open 24 hours a day.

I was starting to worry that Brixton might be going a tad stale but a visit to Dex has put my mind at rest - a trendy establishment with terrific decor, sophisticated tunes and affordable drinks menu.
