The ViewLondon Review

Located on what the Chelsea and Fulham locals refer to as The Beach, Diva Beach takes its inspiration from Miami’s South Beach. Expect cool, chic, laid back glamour that keeps going into the early hours.

The Venue
Occupying the space previously known as Tryst on Fulham Broadway, Diva Beach is easily located from Earls Court, South Kensington and Fulham Broadway tube stations, although most of the clientele here are likely to be locals.

Inside, the venue is small with discreet bed areas to relax in and lots of white walls, marble and white leather seating, plus nods to the Art Deco Miami style of yesteryear. There’s a separate Champagne Lounge that is somewhat more decadent with a heavy black leather couch, silver cushions, bronze mirrors and heavy chandeliers.

The Atmosphere
Diva Beach is trying hard to impress. There are as many staff as guests, keen to ensure your every need is met, recommending you try one of the sushi platters (priced at £30) and making drinks choices for you based on your likes and dislikes. Whether such attention to detail will remain is yet to be seen as Diva Beach settles into its surroundings. Even the door staff are keen to welcome you and point you in the direction of the bar. Expect to see the usual Chelsea trustafarians and Sloanies, and they’ll appreciate the attention to detail shown here – the staff can even book you a limo for the night if you let them know in advance.

The Music
Diva Beach has scored big points with its choice of DJs – they’ve put several time winner of the DJ of the Year award Sam Young in charge of the music policy. Having played at the private parties of everyone from Naomi Campbell to Elton John, film premieres including Sex and the City and with residencies at Raffles and Boujis, Sam knows the Chelsea crowd better than anyone and is sure to choose an uplifting house and electro mix that remains accessible whilst being cutting-edge cool.

The Drink
The drink menu is described by the manager as inclusive. His thoughts behind the price structure is that if you want to splash out £10,000 on a personalised bottle of Champagne with Swarovski crystals then you should be able to, but most visitors settle for a simple cocktail (priced at £8-£14) or bottle of wine. The house cocktail is a fantastic Divatini - a sour apple martini made with Russian Standard Imperial vodka, cointreau and ginger. The bar staff will ask you if you want it as a martini or a long drink, and it comes served with apple slices and frozen grapes.

The Last Word
Diva Beach is trying to cover all bases, from early evening sushi venue to late night club, and working hard at doing each thing to a high standard. It’s a bit lacking in atmosphere but time will tell if it settles into its own.
