DJ fans and DJ hopefuls, take note – this year’s DMC DJ championships have returned and the heat is on.
Why you should go:
If you’re down with London DJs – or if you fancy picking up some pointers – make your way to the DMC DJ finals at the Carling Islington Academy. DJs from all across the nation will be competing, so make sure you show your support and cheer on London – not that they’ll need it, of course.
And if you’re in need of some more entertainment, the night will be hosted by MC Trip (known for his work with Killa Kela) with performances by 1989 DMC world champion Cutmaster Swift, Million Dan, Le Shadow, Beattorent and Hobbit.
Don’t miss:
There are two parts to the DMC DJ finals, a head to head battle and a solo show off. During the first part, the two competitors will have 90 seconds to out spin and out scratch their opponent, and in the second, the DJ has 6 minutes to do whatever it takes to impress the judges.
This year the rules have changed a bit and gone back to the old school way of doing things. The competitors are only allowed the most basic equipment, with no fancy modifications or impressive effects, bringing everyone to the same level and making the contest all about pure, raw, DJ talent.
The UK DMC Championship finals take place at Carling Academy on Thursday 17th July 2008 at 7pm. To purchase DMC Finals tickets please click the Buy Tickets button.
