The Dutch know how to throw a seriously good party. Who needs tulips and clogs?
Why you should go
London becomes a haven for all things Holland, courtesy of Holland House. From kid friendly workshops to food and live music, Holland House is painting the capital orange with Dutch live music and DJs both in the mix. Celebrating the Dutch Queen Mother's birthday or Koninginnedag, this is your chance to enjoy a day of orange coloured fun.
Don’t miss
Head to Trafalgar Square for the Queen's Day party courtesy of Holland House. Starting at 12pm, DJs will be mixing it up and throwing the crowd some infectious beats. With cultural stalls, theatre performances and live performers at Trafalgar Square, there'll be plenty of opportunities to celebrate Queen's Day Dutch style with food, drink and entertainment.
Midday to dusk
Aiming to party hard with the Holland House crew, Trafalgar Square offers up its space to some of the hottest DJs from Holland. The lineup of live bands starts at 12.30pm with Amsterdam based band New Cool Collective, who will aim to please the crowds with their latina-jazz vibes.
Reminisce
Relive childhood memories through your kids. Children and families will have a whale of a time with plenty of Dutch fun and games. There's Panna Football, bicycle stilt walkers, theatre performances and more fun with face painters and arts and crafts activities.
Chill out
Adults will have plenty to keep them entertained during Queen's Day too. The Dutch market is bigger and better this year, with plenty of delicious treats. Sample some of the caramel waffles, pretzels and pancakes before moving on to Dutch cheeses, and fries with mayonnaise. And don't worry about burning off all those calories, at Trafalgar Square there will be famous Dutch acts like Baskerville to you up and dancing with their own techno-rock flavour.
The Holland House event featuring Dutch live music and DJs takes place from 12pm - 8pm, Saturday 16th April 2011 at Trafalgar Square. The event is free to attend.
