This is one of the better locations of the Edwards chain. With its quirky interior and quirkier guests, it’s very difficult to feel inappropriately dressed or out of place here – nothing quite makes sense.

The Venue
Edwards is situated in plain sight along the Uxbridge Road and has a pretty outdoor seating area with potted hedges and fairy lights. Essentially, the long rectangular room consists of one bar and a small makeshift dancefloor with a smattering of stools, tables and cushy leather sofas. The walls are either exposed brick or a deep burgundy adorned in arty pictures and print. With lamps and black chandeliers, the place has a subtle sophistication but does feel rather cluttered. The toilets are right at the back and well kept but you have to dodge the kamikaze dancers on the outskirts of the floor to get to them.

The Atmosphere
Fridays and Saturdays see this bar transforming into a club – you’re shoulder to shoulder with the next goer and neither of you have anywhere to sit. Trainers aren’t allowed and the crowd generally look smart, having dressed up in a pair of their best jeans. People from all ages turn up, want to talk to you and the odd fancy-dressed hen party is not an uncommon sight. The music is acceptable – none of it new, but all of it familiar and guaranteed to keep your foot tapping. Be prepared to wait an age for your drink though – the barstaff are friendly but rather clueless too.

The Food
Edwards boasts a classic pub grub menu, which is well presented and good value for money. You have a wide variety of burgers and sandwiches to choose from as well as sharing platters and mains. Service in this area is fairly prompt too.

The Drink
The opportunity to drink like a champ is yours at Edwards, taking into account that its zone 4 London – beverages are cheap! They serve cocktails, a range of beers and there are also a variety of special offers to choose from, depending on the day and time you visit. It makes sense to indulge.

The Last Word
Edwards is a suitable bar in which to start your night if you’re in the area; but come 10pm you ought to have moved on.
