Went here once whilst very pissed so details a bit sketchy but can remember being unimpressed. Club is pretty huge. Go here if you are into the music on that particular night or if you enjoy taking drugs - do not go if you normally go to Boujis or find Fabric a bit too 'street'. This is more of a raver place than a bar / club if you know what I mean. The clientele and staff are more aggressive as a result, this is not a place to attempt to pull in my opinion, the clunge factor is zero. I don't like this kind of atmosphere anymore, as I am too damn old. I have only been here once though so I may be being too harsh...
As an aside it suddenly occurred to me several days after visiting that this place may in fact have been the old warehouse rave venue that I used to visit as a youngster known as 'Bagleys'. Many sweaty nights spent in there until 7am at One Nation, Jungle Fever etc. where the bouncers used to look down your pants into your boxers at the door to check for drugs and a fight was always guaranteed. It seems little has changed clientele-wise (although the decor is unrecognisable) this is still a spot where you will meet the council dwelling, pill-popping populous of North London if that's what you are after....
i was at egg yesterday wanted to try one of the 'best one' in London and i am so disappointed! it was my bf birthday so i thought it will be special evening.. we got there after 11pm and it was still kind of empty, rooms were not open yet (if they says that party starts at 22 so i would expect something happening, when you comeing , not just siting and waiting for something to happen..) we had a drink ( it is expensive for one small bottles beer they charged 5 £ and they throw some away as they pur to the glass and the rest of your dring you paid for it is going to rubish bin) so drink was expensive....
it was kind of xmas party , only xmas thing i could notice was bouncers red hat, noting else...
music was terrible, it loooks like the dj thinks that they are playing in such great club and they can play they own shi* music, mabye for someone who is very drunk or had drugs music will be ok, in each room musisc sounds the same... we even didnt feel like go on dance floor because non os this musisc was great and usualy when the club is good they play music that you just want to dance but not in egg, in egg dj plays own musisc their sets and they think they are great ....
sorry to write all of this but i am so dispointed ab last night and i didnt find there any great points of the club
for me it was just biiiiig waste of money , never go there again !
Went there yesterday with a friend. We rushed to the bar and asked for the drinks list. To our amazement we could buy bottles of champagne for only £80, the Dom Perignon only costed £150!!. I've seen some clubs in the countryside with more expensive champagne.
But beware, do not go to this club if you want to show off: when we bought the bottle we never expected it to be opened for us *and kept at all times* behind the bar. Plus you had to drink it from hard plastic cups. That is probably the reason why it is so cheap: maybe they know that by keeping the bottle customers would think twice about buying one.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed the music as we are really into the underground house genre and the sound system was very sophisticated. Three floors of musical goodness.
Only go there if you are given a flyer or if you know that there is a good line-up. At the door they beg you to leave your details for a membership card, which sort of has a reverse effect if you know what I mean..
We went to Egg on the 6th August of Key of Life. I listen to house music pirate radio all the time and have heard many stations promoting key of life as one of the best nights out in London. Expect Egyptian theme, belly dancers, etc with Michel Cleis headlining. This night was very disappointing for the following reasons: Egyptian theme consisted of a few shisha pipes and one girl dancer in Egyptian dress who came up to me and asked me if I had seen any podiums anywhere! Obviously she was not told where to dance.
The top room didn't open till 2:30 when it was meant to open at 1, when it did open the music and mixing were poor. The bottom room and the middle room were hot, too dark and probably the most over used smoke machines I have ever seen in a nightclub to the point where I couldn't see my friends who were in front of me. Music was hit and miss - one minute they would play a banger and have a full dance floor then mix in a warm up tune and lose the dance floor. There was no mesosphere in the club at all. When Michel Cleis came on he messed up and then must have put on a back up CD while they tried for about 20 minutes to fix the technical problem! The music on the back up CD was repetitive and boring. Eventually they replaced the deck but we'd had enough by then and left, all in all a shambles from start to finish and I wouldn't go back.
Whent along to the party on Saturday at egg, well the line up was amazing the lighting sound fantastic, the staff helpful out of this world
I am a fan of the Martinez Brothers, they are coming. back to London to appear at the nest, this is a must.
Mentioned to a couple of people who worked at the club about a couple of the bad review on this site, they found it very funny, the conclusion I came too was it was an ex member of staff with an axe to grind because he was dismissed and not the full ticket ,typical
So if you see a crap review on a place, check out the place and be your own judge.
See you at the nest in august
Been to egg after a good 4 months...
Much better sound and visuals, great staff and bouncers and the summer garden layout. Well done egg!!
Went to Egg for the first time this weekend and was wondering what took me so long!! Got to the club a bit late but it didn't matter as the party was in full swing when we got there and as it was open til 6 we had plenty of time to get funky! The place is massive and has such a friendly raver vibe which I loved. Would recommend to anyone who likes to rave!
Went to Key of Life on Saturday night and once again, had an amazing time. The bouncers were friendly and chatty, and the crowd was great fun! Loved the music, every room was awesome, didn't stop dancing all night and Sunday morning. Go to Egg, it's definitely worth it!
