Terrible club, been there with friends who arrange a table for us, we sat down them someone "important" come in and they ask us to move, we were a bit stubborn so we didn't, they left us there and keep coming back to ask us to make space for others, as the only drink we bought was a bottle of wine.
A horrible thing happen to my friend whom came all the way from Norway, she is a bit over weight and a very rude lady on the toilet told her that "this dress is not for you" she was left in tears, detail the lady has lips that looked like a horse that had been atacked by wasps, awful. I think those people think that be posh means be mean.
Just didn't rate it terrible because the doorman was very friendly and even asked us if we need a taxi, if so he could book it for us.
sadly this place isn't all it's chalked up to be if you don't fit into society's mould of perfect, young, beautiful and stylish. i suffered discrimination of embarrassing proportions here and it was a terrible experience. why can't the management just turn away the unmentionables and unwanteds outright at the door and save the shame people have to face walking away from the laughter of shallow, drunk people? there is no class or opulence in this place. just vanity, shallowness and idiocy.
Never been, was thinking about it but I am going on King5555 reviews!
Won't bother. All these places think they are just too good - JUST ME YOU'RE NOT. It's never fun, always come home thinking I wish I had never wasted my time and good hard earned money.
So thank you King5555 you confirmed what I already thought about this place.
I was there a few weeks ago and had a good nite
we was a group of 4 boys and just 2 girls
and we couldnt get in to other clubs
but than we met a promoter of the club, she got us in for free
and gave as some free drinks as well, so it was very easy going.
The music was okay, not very special at all
but I had a great nite with my friends there
I maybe will go there again, but only with a promoter!
Than I can be sure to get in and not wait to long in the cold..
Worse club ever in London they should just stick to the restaurant business if they even good at that
Club scene is a shame and the old hag at the door thinks shes better then everybody else a club to avoid by all means
worse service, small tables and crap music is adreadful, like of a radio station and the crowd was vile
go to any other club and your going to have a good time
This one obviously has no idea on customer services i would give this club no stars if i could
Definitely never go here people at the door are full of themselves and need a slap.
That lady on the door needs to be dismissed
Booked a table for 15 people for a friends 21st birthday, was very disappointed. Was shoved on a tiny table that only had 6 seats, which was under the staircase so we could not move. The music was awful and was charged 15% service to the waitress to carry the drinks two steps from the bar. They did not do anything for my friend, although it was prewarned it was her 21st, after a complaint they brought out a cake which had the wrong name on it. Awful service, very snobby and terrible customer care, would not go again, more of a bar than a club. Spent a lot of money and was not happy, better off going somewhere like runway , where they look after you a little better and the music and atmosphere is more friendly.
A group of 12 of us went to Embassy on 19/3/11 after Sky Bar let us down (even after booking a table with them) so we desperately went to Embassy as it wasn't too far. We met a lovely promoter outside called Mark I think, who sorted us out a table and we all got in fine (even though sky Bar had said 2 of our party didn't have the 'right image') yet we had no problem with the door staff, who, despite previous reviews, seemed to be lovely and friendly! Mark got us a table and then managed to get us an even bigger table in a great area of the venue, and got us great deals on our drinks, he bought them over for us so we didn't even need to go to the bar. We thought our night was going to be terrible because Sky bar ruined our plans, but actually I'm glad they did because we had an amazing night at Embassy! Yes the downstairs is a bit crowded but that is the atomosphere of most clubs I've been too and I didn't think it was overcrowed. The music was really good too. I can't thank Embassy enough for saving my friends birthday we are totally grateful and will no doubt be back again, I know where to go next time I'm in London!
Avoid Embassy London by any means necessary. I paid for a table but waited for it for over an hour. We waited outside in the que for 40 minutes then to be told we all had to pay an extra £20 to get in as it was 11.05pm and only free before 11pm? Even though we had been there waiting to get in well before this time! The door host, a lady called Rachel was very bitchy and rude. Worst hosts and defiantly the worst customer service I have experienced from a west end nightclub by far. I will not be returning
I can only say bad things about this club. Although we were on a birthday guestlist a month prior to going we had to wait over an hour in the freezing cold. When we eventually got into the place the people were mostly sleazy old men and desperate girls wanting to get with a rich guy.
It was so full in the club that I got trod on a million times. I will never go to this club again.
This is my worst club experience. To top it off, I wrote the below complaint to the club and I didn't even receive a response! "i am writing to complain about the treatment my friends and I received after visiting your Embassy Night Club, Mayfair on Sat the 27th of Nov. My sister had pre-arranged for my friends and I to be on your guestlist directly with the club. This was a special occassion for me as I was celebrating my pre-wedding hen party with my friends and we chose your venue as I believed it would guarantee a good night our for us. We arrived at the Nightclub at 10.50pm and joined the guest list queue. Some of my friends were already inside the venue waiting for me to arrive. This was one of the coldest days of the year(pre-snow weekend) and my friends and I were all wearing heels, dressses and overcoats (appropriate clubwear not outdoor wear!). We queued for 1 hour and 20 minutes before we were able to get in! It was only towards the end of our wait that we were advised by the door staff that no-one was getting into the club as they were waiting for the tables to arrive. The wait in the frezing cold for such a pro-longed period, with no outdoor heating and lack of updates from your staff really made this a painful experience for my friends and I. Had it not been for the fact that I already had friends in the club, I would have happily turned away. I even had friends arrive from out of town, only to queue for an hour and then turn back and go home. This ordeal completely ruined my celebrations! I felt so strongly about the way we were mis-treated by your organistation which led me to this complaint and I wanted to give you the chance to respond. I look forward to hearing from you."
Unfortunately this is the nature of the business. People who can't get in rate 1 star. People who can enjoy the fun rate 5 stars. I personally don't have problem to get in anywhere. I've been to Embassy many times and I always had great time.
Don't take it personally darling. This is how a tough door should be.
I will be back there tonight.
This could be a good venue, but unfortunately because of in my opinion the raciest blonde female American working on the door 31/12/2010. I have to state this club is still very much stuck in the 1980s.
She allowed in a group of 6 Caucasian males wearing jeans, trainers/ casual shoes and T-shirts, but stopped a group of 3 males because the guy wearing jeans was black! She told him the evening was a black tie event, but nowhere on the tickets or advertising did it state a Black Tie dress code.
This type of behaviour and mentality may well be the norm in certain pockets of America, but in London 2010 this is unacceptable!
The owners of this venue should address this specific problem with the greatest urgency…
I have to say, Embassy is an amazing club! I went a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday and the music was great, a good looking crowd and the staff were really friendly! We went with a promoter from ceg (collective Entertainment Group) and had complimentary dinner beforehand in the restaurant upstairs, which was a perfect start to our night! We later on had complimentary drinks on the promoters hosting table, but also bought drinks at the bar (got to try their watermelon martini!). Overall, we had a very enjoyable night, and I'm surprised at the negative reviews - sometimes your night can depend on the promoters you go with. I've had a few bad experiences with promoters in the past, where they just see you as a "number" to add to their list, and once you're in the club, you don't see them for dust! However, the girl we went with from ceg, not knowing her beforehand, made sure we all had a good time, that we had drinks etc, and even danced with us! The other members of her team were also very pleasant! Will definitely be using her again and I'll definitely be going back to Embassy! If you'd like contact details for the promoter I went with, reply to this review :)
To start with there's no way this is an exculsive club, it's pretty small and average decor, charging £20 to get in is taking the piss a bit. DJ was quite good and there were a decent amount of fit girls even if some of them were young & stupid. Overeall much better clubs to go to but small dance floor means plenty of arse grabbing if thats your thing.
As a professional events organiser and promoter, I was extremely disappointed for a number of reasons with the unprofessional manner and general incompetence of the staff at this venue and would recommend not using it for private functions/nights in the future.
AVOID! Booked a table at this club for my 21st birthday. Spoke to a women who can only be described as the rudest, most arrogant person I've ever spoken to. Believed she was doing me a favour by doing her job. Finally confirmed the booking after 3 phone calls to her. Was told we wouldn't have to queue. Arrived at the club at 10.30 pm, was told to queue. Waited in line for half an hour and was then told to go to the back of the queue again as we'd pushed in. This was not the case. We then left for Chinawhites where we were looked after properly and treated with respect. Embassy bouncers (if they can be called bouncers, had no idea what they were doing) we're the most power crazed little Hitlers I've ever experienced. Queues spilling out onto the road, no order what so ever. The worst run door I have seen, avoid at all costs.
Went to Embassy Last Sat for my friends birthday, we had a great night, had a table downstairs in the club so didnt have to queue when we got there, music was awsome, great atmosphere, had loads of fun, would recommend to anyone!!
Went there yesterday..had the worst night out in London. Rude staff, chavvy crowd, old music. worst DJ ever who couldn't even mix one song to the other!! definitely will not come back there.
Went to Embassy London for my Birthday and had a great time. The Music was great, the club and crowd was cool. Got in quite easily under the viplounge. Co. Uk guestlist.
I Had never been to Embassy and when I arrived the door staff were proffesional and quick. Once inside I had never seen so many cool, attractive people. The music was immense. I think the dj was called Woody. The Best part though was the food at Dinner. Hands Down the one of the best dinner I have ever had. The only bad part of my night was when the music stopped and I had to go home.
I went to Embassy last Saturday and had an amazing night. The queue was dealt with efficiently so we didn't have to wait too much and once we were inside I fell in love with the decor. It’s got an amazing space to dance which is great as I can't stand clubs that are too confined with space! We boogied the night away till 4.00am in the morning it was fantastic.
Definitely recommend this place as somewhere to go for a guaranteed good time!
Yes definately, what a Great club. Music was fantastic and the Party was amazing the possibility of dinner is a plus and the food is fantastic!
Getting better for sure! For something that has been around sooo long it is amazing that it can still pull good night. I was there on Friday night and it was great. Lot of French and Italians for sure and restaurant food is amazing really!
By far one of, if not THE best club I've ever been to in London. Definitely my favourite. Great music, nice decor, fantastic crowd that don't really bother you (this is essential when you are a bunch of girls just out to have fun), very friendly staff (from outside security to the bartenders), and a brilliant atmosphere.
If you are a group of girls, this is a place where you will be very safe, as security staff are very consciously protective of girls. The door security even go that extra mile to arrange a cab for you.
I have been going to Embassy now for about a year and I can't complain. The music is always fantastic and the people are the perfect mixture. Upon arriving the first time it was slightly difficult to get in but now I'm a friendly face, the people on the door and the manager are helpful and courteous. It is an expensive night out, but it's really worth it! People who complain about pretentious behavior of the Embassy staff or over priced drinks are obviously more acclimatised to the cheap rowdy clubs of Leicester Square. This is London's nightlife at it's best.
Embassy is fantastic! one of the best clubs in London. the decor is wonderful.
the food and drinks are also amazing! although a tad pricy, it is well worth it. the staff are so nice and will do anything to help you.
quite often a celebrity or two kicking about but a definite must go when in London !!
There is nothing worse than waiting in anticipation for the Guestlist Gestapo with their Pikey Radar on, to check your name is on the list; give you the once over and hope they let you in, but I have never experienced that at The Embassy. Yes, it is expensive, but it is in the West End providing late night drinking and dancing. Having once felt the need to complain, I sought out the owner expecting to be on the receiving end of lip service and not much else, only to be surprised by his ability to take the sting out of my complaint by acknowledging my irritation and sending over a drink. A trait that many people in this industry would do well to adopt and remember who the customer is. If your wallet stretches to a meal here, the food is excellent. I think they know their market well which is probably why they are still around when other clubs fall in and out of fashion all too quickly!
R-U-B-B-I-S-H big time. That's all i can say for this shit-hole
I agree with Idrathernotdivulge.
I've been Embassy many of times and enjoyed most nights. Small dance floor but always manage to have great fun. Best to get a table in the corner downstairs if you want abit of 2 step dancing space.
Went there on sat. Put our names on the guestlist, was asked which guestlist I was on. How many guestlists do they have? Got in, the bouncer was rude, manager (a tall guy) was rude, dance floor too small, weird public, rude staff.
Ok. Not that bad, and not that great. Would agree with most of what has already been written but haven't noticed anything crazy at the front door though.
Good place to dance and have a good time but not for people meeting.
Think there's a big difference between which night you go as well.
Went on Saturday night, and the crowd was spoke with a heavy east london / essex accent. Nothing wrong with that at all though. Just a matter of personal preference about what type of crowd you like.
There are many mixed reviews about Embassy with all having valid points but many are unfair or down to the people themselves.
The two times that I've been the woman on the door has never bothered myself or our group other than to greet us, the bouncer who I'm sure everyone complains about and isn't exactly the most cheerful but does his job well now works at Maya, to anyone who does the west end club thing I'm sure you'll know who I mean without dropping names.
Yes the drinks are expensive but
1. It's a club.
2. You're in central London
3. Do you really want to be somewhere full of undesirables after you've just shed £20 of your hard earned?
Musically, there is a great deal of repeats but the genres are varied and the dance floor is quite a decent size given the club's proportions.
Has arguably the best smoking area in London (excluding Kensington Roof Gardens but the clues in the name to why that's excluded).
It's a good place to get a table too, service is prompt you also can get good tables too.
In terms of the women, there's some hot ones there and there are the characteristic leering old men that seem to pop up everywhere but in a much lower concentration than places such as BLC which should surely be an acronym for some sort of geriatric institution.
Embassy is what you make it, if you're in a solely or predominantly male group then chances are they are going to speak down to you, if you rock up in trainers and not a VIP same situation.
So go in with the right attitude, some cash and enjoy yourself
Been to Embassy twice. Firstly theee bouncer that was there on both occasions on a Friday wasn't exactly lovely to us, but all in all he's doing his job.
Drinks are quite steep but expected. They're quit lax with sitting down at tables towards the later hours of the night/morning.
The crowd are ok, everyone's doing their own thing, course you're going to get the stuck up people, just don't look at them because they're probably not looking at you.
If you're going to Embassy go for the good times with your mates, the djs are pretty good but i'm show they dropped the laidback Luke mix of show me love about 3/4 times that night, I love it but that was kind of begging it a bit.
Embassy is an ok club, I wouldn't expect to meet a lot of interesting people, the dance-floor is teeny but if you go in wanting to make a good night of it, then you should have one.
Booked a guestlist with a nice friendly girl in Embassy's membership/bookings office. All was sorted.
Got to the door and the 'walking-clipboard-with-an-attitude' looked my wife up and down and told me we arent coming in...
That was enough to send my wife ballistic! The doorman calmed things down and apologised to us but said "I'm sorry about her but I can't let you in now because we don't want any more trouble between her and your mrs, she seems to have it in for your mrs" - he then wispered "jealous" and winked. lol
As the doorman seemed like a really nice guy - I left it alone and walked away, but let put it this way...
I've never hit a woman in my life, but I was very close to breaking her face in.Jealousy is an ugly friend.
Especially when it's friends with a yeti with a clipboard.
P.S. The three stars are only for the doorman and him alone.
Just the usual, clip board girl made me feel unwelcome despite being on the sintillate guestlist, usual looking up and down, decided i was not the part haha
fair enough, did not dress up for the occasion, some punters outside were no better than me and my groupshe decides she will not let me in, i ask to see the owner and how much it costs to book a table, just to prove a point to the girl, dont look down on people, i decide to book a table, you should have seen the look on the girl face, classic!!! haha
once inside, no big deal, the hostess brings a huge magnum of champgane with the usual sparklers, nearly died of embarrasment, cant really see the point, wanted to avoid attention by all meansmusic was ok, Dj was a friend,
verdict? not worth the hassle, especially the rudeness, that i will not accept from anyone especially when there is no need, i have a highly paid job and can afford to book tables every week but thats besides the pointThese clubs in central london, especially the ''up market'' ones like China Whites, Embassy, Aura.
Crystal, Movida and the likes, the management understand the mindset of the regular punters, they wish to be seen at these venues, they will pay even £50 for entry fees,
they know celebrities frequent these spots, they have packed venues weekly, turning people back even makes them more determined, the more ruder they are, people will complain and keep on returning, punters will suck up to the promoter,
try to become friends by any means neccesary, they understand its the place to be seen partying with the world superstars, how do i know this??
i was a club DJ for 7 years and once promoted at what used to be elysium in regents street
I have seen people complain about entry fees, yes sometimes too much for a crap night, complain about drink prices, well there is a choice not to attend these venues
I only visit these places maybe once or
a group of nine turned up sat night on guestlist it was freezing we had to wait for 20mins to go in then charged double what we were told beforhand ,drinks were ten quid a time and to get a drink took forever.we liked the music but you couldnt move it was far to packed and we kept getting barged out the way,it would be good if they sorted the dance floor and how many people they let in.,
Is it true that before 11 o 'clock ladies can get in for free.?
The dance floor is small! so be sure to get on it before others! Music is good! and even better when everybody is dancing along :)
Drinks are expensive! We got a vodka & coke which was 9.50!
However, to be fair they did fill 3/4 of the glass with vodka & put a dash of coke in it. It took us ages to drink it as it was so strong!
Overall, If your good looking & fairly wadded with money this is the place for you.
Oh, and this clubs apparently recognised for having alot of celebritys there. There wasn't one in sight that night, understandably it was NYE though & more of the public were coming in.
But if you think you'll pop in one night and see somebody famous, chances are you won't as there's the VIP area where you can't get into.
Hope this helps you all.x
Me and My friend went for NYE at Embassy. Firstly, if you don't know where it is from the tube station, I strongly suggest you ask for directions or figure them out yourself. We got lost several times and everybody we asked had seemed to heard of it but could never actually tell us where it exactly was. When we got there, we waited for about ten minutes however, it didn't seem that long. There are two ques; one for guestlist/pre booked tickets and one for on the door tickets.
I'd advise to be on the guestlist or already have a ticket as this que goes down alot quicker. For all the comments about the club/door men being racist. I strongly disagree with! When in the club there are a range of races; african, pakistani, white etc. Plus, the doormen are different races anyway!
The door policy is strict however, if you look presentable and are not drunk at that present time you will be fine. A man infront of us was clearly drunk and he got refused entry.I don't know about the whole mixed group thing, there were four guys together & they all got in. I guess its on the way you look & how the staff are feeling! The staff aren't rude but there not so friendly either.
They don't smile or have a chat...they just get on with there job. When we got in, we went to the toilets; there's only one place you can go which has 4 toilets in it & is fairly small! (not much good when the club is packed!) plus the toilet attendant is really rude! -
We thought we'd go into the toilet together to save time, but when we got out the woman started shouting at us saying that you're not allowed to do that...we didn't seem to understand? You have alot of girls in the club who have fake boobs, fake hair, fake everything! & tend to throw themselves at the old rich guys... bit pathetic really! There are tables upstairs & dowstairs however you have to pay to sit on the tables! So be prepared to stand for a while!CARRYS ON IN NEXT REVIEW...
ProsPodium/professional dancers. The £15-20 entrance fee is too much for what you actually get. Guestlist means you still have to wait up to 25 minutes to get in. While people who book tables go in ahead regardless of how long you've been waiting, very frustrating.Dancefloor is too small. Seats and space are only for those who booked tables.Expect to spend close to £10 for a drink.
