With a great address - 1 Shepherds Bush Green - this self-styled beat bunker has been pulling in the crowds for years. Unfortunately, Ginglik is facing closure with the redvelopment of Shepherds Bush and soon it may be gone.

The Venue
In a former public toilet beneath Shepherds Bush Green, Ginglik is a cool, subterranean members' bar. It's dark and atmospheric with good lighting and a stage that hosts an ever-changing menu of live gigs, comedy nights, film nights, DJs and exhibitions. The variety of live performance on offer is staggering. Well known comedians who have appeared here include Rory Bremner, Al Murray, Ian Lee, Rob Newman, Mark Thomas, Russell Howard and Jerry Sadowitz.

The Atmosphere
Ginglik attracts a good looking, cool crowd. Like a slice of Shoreditch but without the too cool for school attitude. The staff are fantastic and ensure the place runs smoothly and every other Tuesday they host one of London’s best comedy nights.

The Food
Basic, simple bar food is available at Ginglik at really low prices. Tasty burgers and nachos are pleasing and affordable and the kitchen prepares meals with care.

The Drink
They make bang-up cocktails here from the well stocked bar. Beer and wine at cheap prices mean you can focus on the entertainment rather than counting your pennies. Ask the friendly bar staff for your favourite drink – they should be able to accommodate just about every taste, or they’ll certainly give it their best shot!

The Last Word
Ginglik proves you don’t need to go into Zone One in order to find cool nights out. Let's just hope it sticks around long enough to make the most of it.
