The original in the chain of comedy clubs, Jongleurs Battersea was opened in 1983 and since then has played host to some of the biggest names in comedy. After the show, the venue becomes a club where you can dance the night away with your friends.

The Venue
Jongleurs is hidden away down a residential side street, a short walk away from Clapham Junction station. It’s a single-level club, decorated in the usual dingy black with harsh lighting, and is rather cramped during the comedy shows. Narrow tables and chairs are crammed in together, right up to the edge of the stage – and beware of being in the front row if you don’t want to get picked on!

The Atmosphere
When everyone is seated, the close proximity of your fellow guests can add to the bonding experience that comes with watching stand-up comedy. It is usually full, and even guests and members who book can find 8 seated at a table meant for 4. Even though there is table service and you are shown to your table when you arrive, it is definitely a no-frills venue as far as decor, service, and food and drink go. During busy times you may wait a while, both at your table and at the bar, to be served. The clientele ranges from locals to tourists with plenty of hen and stag parties thrown in, but the atmosphere is jovial and friendly.

The Music
Once the tables are cleared away, the DJ churns out some fantastically cheesy tunes from every decade - guaranteed to get you up on the dance floor partying away.

The Food
Standard pub fare range is offered at Jongleurs, from burgers to curry dishes - nothing too fancy. The prices are pretty standard for a pub menu and aren’t too bad considering this is a big name in entertainment.

The Drink
All the usual beers, lagers, wines and spirits that you would expect to find in a pub, with some cocktails and drinks specials on offer. Prices are average for the area.

The Last Word
The comedy is great and the laughs set you up for a night dancing guiltily to the cheesy music afterwards with your friends. Just don’t expect amazing service during busy periods – truly a no-frills (yet fun) night out.
