Luke Dzierzek Interview

Forget the whole God is a DJ business, Londoners know that the finest DJs in the land are really simple folk at heart who just happen to know the capital inside out. Here’s everything you ever wanted to know about Luke Dzierzek but were too busy dancing to ask.

The DJ: Luke Dzierzek
The Club Night: The Gallery
The Place: Ministry of Sound
The Dates: 10th October
The Music: House, electro, techno

How did you get into DJing?
A very young age, I used to listen to a few early Global Underground Comps, and pirate radio. I was fascinated by all the types of music, and when I played around on some decks for the first time, I was hooked instantly. I come from a very music background though, I was making music from the age of 10 on my keyboard and guitar, then just progressed into making electronic music about 14 years old and Djing in pubs and putting on mobile discos.

What makes your style of DJing unique?
I fuse and blend all types of forward thinking music, I try to create something unique in my sets, and take you a journey.

What do you do when you’re not DJing?
Working full time, running my label label Fling, and producing.. And spending time with my girlfriend, family, friends!

What music do you listen to?
All types, im really open.

Who’s on your DJ dream team?
If you mean who id like to play amongst that would be Ricardo Villaobos, James Holden, Ritchie Hawtin.

What was the most expensive night you’ve ever enjoyed in London, and who was paying?
Fabric, with Sasha.. It was over 2 years ago, amazing.

And the cheapest?
There hasn’t been one!

What’s your favourite festival?
Glastonbury is great.

What’s the most unique venue in London in your opinion?
Well, for me at the moment its still got to be Fabric.

Describe your perfect day and night in London?
Well I normally like to come up during in the day, visit a few record shops or friends, grab a couple of drinks, this is normally around Farringdon and T-Bar is a favourite, on a Saturday, then just pop over into Fabric with my friends, enjoying hearing all the cutting Edge music, they have to offer.

Luke Dzierzek plays The Gallery at Ministry of Sound on Friday 10th October.
