Very nice interior, good music.. one of the top ten.
Expensive drinks, which is typical for a london club. If you go through a promoter though, it's a great night, which gets really busy
Totally unimpressed walking down to the club/bar area was poor not exactly welcoming really needs a make over whilst you venture down stairs. Got in on a free guest list as was given complimentary tickets but to hear you have to pay £20 to get in to a club of pratically nothingless was really bad. The club is so small, dingy and there are not many places to sit unless you have reserved an area otherwise you are standing about. Prices of drink were really really bad; £17 for a vodka lemonade and lime and a bottle of beer. Waitress was a bit rude as well not axactly talking to the customer and was too busy talking to her colleague to interact with us.
I was expecting a little bit of dance / house music as they advertise this on their website but nothing of the sort more a throw back to the 90's r'n'b / hip hop music in the fourty minutes we stayed there.
Left after being disappointed and found a better bar which had a better atmosphere music and drink prices near by which made up our evening dramatically.
Great night, went there on 14th May. I would agree that the drink prices are very overpriced but still enjoyed it. You defo need a table though and a good group of mates with u, without it I think the people could b stuck up. One final word of warning on top of the drink prices they also sting u with an high % for table service. Just remember its ldn and everything is expensive!
There was not enough space to dance. This club has got too many seats and tables. The music was ok,but there are much better clubs in this area. I won't go there anymore!
Went last weekend and had a great night! Good vibe going on, waitress was very good.
I went here last month and had a pretty good time.. The queue was insanely long and we almost couldnt get in because the doorman said that they've 'reached maximum capacity' but luckily we did get in because we were at the front anyway.. then when we got inside, it was nowhere near full capacity, the bouncers are liars! the place isnt all that to be honest, its very small.. and the drinks are insanely expensive!!
I was really excited about going to Maya for the first time! However when we got there we were rudely treated by the bouncers, got told that the 2 guestlists we were on were not valid. we were only 5 girls, with correct ID ,appropriately dressed, positive attitude but the bouncer looked at us and said it was full. I don't like to judge a place but there were two groups of female in front of us and they got in no trouble (i wouldn't say they were dressed appropriately but maybe less is more). Overall bad experience from the outside and slightly offended, maybe if we were a different race, with lighter hair, and had more flesh on show we would've got in no problem. Will never attempt to get into this club. I rather spend my money elsewhere any day!!
Here are my thoughts on the club.
Since I am friends with the promoter I did not wait/pay at entrance and went straight to the vip, which wasn't too crowded (compared to vip's in other clubs). The music was pretty good, mostly house and dance, although I think they remixed a little bit too much RnB and hip-hop for my taste. It's definitely fun to come and dance there, especially if you go with fun people. I am not so sure I liked the crowd that much. On the dance floor there were a lot of immature asian guys and girls who can't handle their liquor. Maybe it was just that night I went. But overall, not a bad place to go for a night out.
Went for NYE - amazing!! x
Went to the club when i heard it was open again ... and wow it was amazing ... new management team which greeted me on arrival and when we left felt like a proper vip and new friendly staff just made it even better, I would advice everyone to come down to go have a look … a place where I think I would also go no matter … we even brought a table and the waitress was friendly and posed for pictures with me and my friends and it felt like they went an extra mile for us .. I would recommend this club for whoever wants a good night..
Well what can I say, I was wondering what difference new owners would make but visit Maya now and if you had a bad experience previously you will be pleasantly surprised! New owners took over with the re-opening in December 2010 and the night was amazing! The staff were not the usual pretentious London staff, drink prices were as to be expected and the music was banging all night. We had a VIP table with an excellent waitress who clearly knew her drinks and the staff overall were professional and attentive, they even offered to stock our favourite drink in future which wasn't on their menu but would get in just for us!. I would highly recommend and we're all off to Maya for New Years....... Looking forward to some more banging nights there! Maya keep up the good work, new owners - stay put!
Maya was the first club I went to when I turned 18
was overwhelmed my the beautiful decor
the doorpeople were firm but fair
the atmosphere was slighltly pretentious, but I have little sympathy for people who complain about not getting in because of what they were wearing, girls should wear dresses, heals or a nice skirt/ hotpants and guys should wear suits. Anyone who looks nice and dresses well would get in!!
The music wasnt great , but got better as the night went on. I would reccomend it, but I have been to better clubs since that night
Rude, arrogant & pretentious place. I made a mistake I worn attire to MAYA and was refused! Would not recommend anyone to visit. Booked guest list in advance - Looking forward to a good night but obnoxious female on the door had her nose turned up to any female - Unless you scantily dressed with the minimalist look. Can understand the strict request for ID as they stated management policy- But some people (double DD or wearing undies) were let in where as others (clothed) were refused entry without ID. I refused to even bother after watching how they treated there customers. Save you hard earned money for a place where they remember its the customers who keep places like this in operation. An note to female on door would not go amiss to actually welcome your customers and crack a smile.
Same as before I wouldn't even give MAYA a star. Or acknowledge it as a club! A friend of mine booked a table. We all paid £10 entry fee. And for what? The dj gave up at 01.30. And the bouncers were telling everyone to leave the premises. Their excuse was. There aren't enough people! This is partly true. But there were still enough to fill up the whole dance floor. So it wasn't packed. But still plenty of people and pretty much everyone was dancing. Having asked one of the bouncers to discuss this with the manager. I was told to go to the bar and talk to the girl there. At the bar they said go to reception. At reception they said go upstairs. And upstairs. Well. That was the street. So the management and staff have something to learn about what it means exactly to run a nighclub! Closure at 01.30! In some countries people can turn up at 01.30. But Maya closes at 01.30. They really look out for your health. They want you to get a good night's rest! Oh yeah and pay the entrance fee! What a waste of time, money and energy!
i won't even give this place a star ..i was on the guestlist according to them my flat shoe didn't look smart so the refuse rudely to let me in,,the bouncers were rude looking at me in disgusting look..top to toe..then start making fun of the guestlist saying i don't think so love this list is not running anymore tho the promoter was not far away them..then told the promoter that coz of my flat shoe and i didn't look smart enough they refused my entry..shame it was my 1st time trying to get there and last time..i heard its small and full of men and girls who hardly got cloth on..maybe i needed to dress less to get in or show my bits ..what the hell is wrong with them ..NOT HAPPY AT ALL .
The Bouncer on the door was, according to my friend, 'honey-eyed' and he was a really nice guy to deal with. We turned up about 11:15 and he told us the place was empty and it was probably best to come back later and that he would remember us and it would not be a problem.
So, we popped down to Zillis for a number of excellent Mojitos and pitched back up at Maya at midnight. True to his word we walked straight in, I paid £20 and it was free for 'ladies' so Sue was in for gratis!
We walked down into the club - very nice if still quite empty. Bar at one end that was roped off and seemed to remain so for the whole evening so we used the other bar. £21 for two v&t's!
Clientele - young girls in short dresses with knickers showing who clearly didn't like music and whose only desire was the gyrate to every track in a way they have seen on music videos, the same way to every single track. Couple of guys hanging around….
The DJ - blonde and pouting in her Swarovski diamante headphones. I recently DJ'd at a friends wedding and a 40th using two iPods and I can honestly say that I rate my efforts a lot better than hers. Gaps between tracks, no attempt at mixing just fading tracks in and out of each other - she was even being helped by 3 other people - absolutely laughable and the whole place was not exactly jumping. I chatted to a guy who turned out to be one of the owners - having bought the club from administrators last year. Even he admitted she was useless but 'pretty'.
Anyway after finishing her 'set' she was replaced by a guy who knew his stuff who played a set that would not have been out of place at a decent Ibiza venue. This was about 2a.m.and the number of people had dropped from maybe 60 at its maximum to 10 so Sue and I had the floor to ourselves for a whole hour with much encouragement from the DJ who knew his stuff and clearly actually enjoys his music. I think at this point there were maybe 3 girls left gyrating in a corner with their unde
What do you expect in the usual "upmarket" club? I know what I expect and I found it when I went here: (1) foolish door policy which keeps the lines long and slow moving even when the club is pretty empty inside (2) a requirement to almost beg the sniffy girl on the door unless you have a table booking (3) reasonably good looking punters, many of whom think they are far better looking than they are; girls looking for men who may or may not be loaded; the occasional knobstick (4) outrageous prices (and "service charges") at the bar where the (my partner says very good looking) barstaff will give you free drinks if you flirt with them (girls only, that is). I had a good time in here, though. The music was great. I prefer house to RnB by a long chalk and if that's your thing then the music here is probably among the best you are going to get in this kind of place. Not the biggest club but it looks good and there's plenty of space to dance. Could have done with a few more punters for a Saturday.
This is an urgent appeal to all DECENT, CLASSY club goers in the Capital. Please DO NOT waste your time or money going to this dump of an establishment. The door policy is; made up by looser staff who are shockingly rude and have forgotten clientele pay their wages. No-one is exempt from the offensiveness of the doormen, even if you are on the Guest-list and have a table booked, which guarantees them £££.
When you finally get into Maya after waiting an hour outside, the club is half empty and people on the down-market side knock into you at your own table so they can drink YOUR drinks. Nice
Shocking, rude ugly B*tch at the door who thinks shes better than anyone else, get A real job luv and not just A door skivvy then you have A right to be rude, as for the bouncer, he Was vile, asked A question about how long would we be queuing and he told us 'im not talknig to you im talknig to them' even though we had A table booekd and wereo N guestlist he made us queue outisde for over an hour so we left and went somewhere else. Disgusting people
Wit Woo the boys are sexy. Maya is my Favourite club ever. I recommend the giant sparkling martinis along with one or two of the boys at the bar. Best night ever. I heart Maya London yey xxx
Simply the best thursday night in london. Went to MAYA last night and was pleasantly surprised how much has changed. The crowd was so much better than the last night i went 3 months ago. The music was simply divine.... danced all night long. Will definitely be coming back to MAYA on a thursday night.
Was in maya on the 28th of november and what a bloody amazing night it was, the bouncers class ppl, the communications director michael chellew was class he sorted everything out, the man who took us to our table karim was also a class guy, all the waiters and waitresses were amazing well mannered and extremely good looking, our waitress mandy was a sweet heart best waitress i have had in a club by a mile. The people inside were high class and well dressed which was impressive, the music was class and i will be there very soon it's an absolutely amazing club, although its not the biggest club but its quality not quantity

Went this Saturday.
Absolutely loved it. We did queue for a long time and saw quite a few people turned away so were naturally a little nervous.
Once we arrived at the front of the queue the door girl was far friendlier than she looks (tall blond ice maiden don't be off put) and even congratulated us on being well dressed.
The bouncers were really nice too and made our wait a little more fun.
Inside the music was fab, a great mix and unlike most posh clubs people actually seemed to be having fun and dancing.
Drinks are expensive as you would expect of a nice venue in the west end put the lovely barmen gave us a couple of free shots which was great, then one of the managers ave us a couple of drinks on his table!
The door girl even called me a cab from her phone when my battery died - you don't get better than that!
All in all a great night, you have to make a bit of an effort to get in and be prepared to part with a few pounds but you get what you pay for I suppose!
Great night
Went to Maya this weekend and had the BEST night out I've had for a long time. I can def say that it is one of London's finest clubs. I emailed them through there website to get on the guest-list which cut down the queuing time and was let in for free by the charming door staff as I arrived before 11pm. We were treated so well even though we hadn't booked a table.
Had some gorgeous cocktails made by the HOT! barmen and danced the night away to the wicked music! Really nice crowd of people and no skanky girls or sleazy men! If you haven't been already check it out, you won't be let down!
I dont really want to waste my time writing too much, but thought it was only right tell everyone that Maya is possibly one of the most AWFUL clubs i have ever set foot in!
The most awful people in there (including staff).... i am surprised we got out there safely - as a young attractive girl, i felt intimidated the whole night by unsavoury men being down right rude, vile and nasty.
The women arent much different. Never ever ever again - DIRE PLACE!
I went to MAYA a couple of months ago and had one of the best nights!
I had me and my friends on a guestlist which allowed us free entry before 12 midnight so that was really cool as we didn't have to pay the £20 entrance fee.
The music was all dance but still really good, admittedly the drinks are quite expensive but I expected them to be.
Overall me and my friends has a fantastic time and I would definitely go back!
Also it wasn't an over crowded sweat box like some places I have been to and there were seats available!
Went to Maya last night after a friend of mine got us on a guestlist. I have been there once before and was far from impressed by the small size of the venue, the dreadful clientel, over priced drink and rude staff.
However, I decided to put that all to one side and enjoy the evening and go there with an open mind. Upon arrival there were 2 queues, one of which was shorter than the other. Presuming the longer line was for all those of us who weren't rich enough to buy an ridiculously over priced table, all 5 of us girl queued up.
We waited patiently with no word of complaint when people took it upon themselves to push into the line whenever they saw someone then knew. We asked a group of people in front of us if they were on a guestlist and they said they were. (They got in with no problems).
After half an hour or more of waiting we finally arrived at the front of the line, with cold hands and painful feet from standing for so long.
The girl on the door was full of airs and graces far above her station and looked down at us (which was difficult as she was shorter than all of us) and asked in a snide voice "Can I help you?" . "Yes", said I politley, "we are on the dreamteam guestlist, our names are..." which is as far as I got before a hand shot up infront of me and she said "this is the queue for tables NOT guestlist. Guestlist is the other queue", waving half heartedly at the other line.I continue politley,
"i'm afriad no one told us that, in fact there was no idication by any of the staff which line was which. We have queued up with everyone else and it is not our fault we are in the wrong line. Do we have to really queue all over again in the other line?"
To which her charming and extremely defensive response was was "Listen it's not my problem love, that's the queue for guestlist, if you want to get in you gota queue up in the right line. It's not my problem how long you've been here".By this
Not a nice club cannot see the point in spending lots of money to pretend your something your not that pretty much sums up the atmosphere.
went to this club last weekend,i felt it was over priced; too small dancefloor; and the bouncers and club manager behaved like bullies.
Would not go back here take my advice do not waste your money.
Have been to maya tonight i.
I paid a lot of money out in this club it was not a nice experience the atmosphere is hostile and boring.
drinks are well over priced. I would not waste your money.
Went on Saturday last week and had such a blast!
me and my friends came for my birthday party and we were totally looked after from the minute we arrived and a few of us were late so the lovely host made sure we all got in ok!
The music rocked and i can't remember the rest of my birthday as i got a bit too drunk but i remember sparklers and a cake!!!
so thanks to everyone at Maya for making it a great night!!I'll defo be going back and recommending Maya to my mates!
Went there Friday night. Name was supposed to be on guest list but wasn't but wasn't a problem to be honest.
Music was really good, Club us quite small but a lively crowd and worth a visit.
Went on 31st July and had a good time. Nice doorstaff, let one of us in comp and drink prices as expected.
Great DJ would recommend.
Went for girlfs birthday. Big group of us and we were treated brilliantly, Thank you.
Went for my sisters hen do, organised guest list, no L plates in sight only pink neon glasses!
We had no problems getting in and everyone we spoke to was friendly.
Drinks were pricey but think that is just the London prices.
Music was really good so would defo go back. Thanks for a top night.
what a load of bull! Managed to get on a guest-list so that I could celebrate my 21st bday in Maya's.
There was a group of around 20 of us, dressed as we were advised to dress.
Got to the door, and the extremely rude doormen told us to line up against the wall, only to turn around and say our guestlist was rejected.
Got through to the manager and found out we apparently looked like the "wrong type of crowd".
In translation... "didn't look rich enough". Never going back there again. Really can't imagine myself having fun in a place that hand-picks in such an obvious manner.
Ended up going to Penthouse and having THE most amazing night! Definitely recommend it.
I absolutely loved it last time I visited Maya. The bar staff was hyper fun and everyone was just in such a good mood all around the club.
I didn't have a table for the night but still enjoyed myself hanging around the bar and all the cute boys at the tables. ;)
I will definitely be back soon. xx
i went last Friday and feel the need to go again!
I used to go every Friday when this club first opened and then didn't go for a while, but a friend was having a birthday so we joined her host on her table, we were totally looked after and the music was amazing all housey and uplifting, they had that actor guy in from Rocknrolla/east is east Jimmy Mistry who Djed, i didn't stop dancing all night (once i was teased up to get dancing!!)
Lovely bar staff too yum!!!If u haven't been for a while - suggest u try it out again - Maya seem to have it just right now!
Quite possibly one of the worst experiences I've had going out in central London for a long time.
I queued for over an hour and only bothered with that as I was supposed to be there for a friend's birthday. Was also in the guestlist queue though that means nothing.
Doormen appeared arrogant, brainless and fairly aggressive.
You shouldn't have too many issues getting in however if you're dressed like a hooker or have lots of cash to waste away inside (get on table guestlist queue).
ps - take a look at the website of Maya, its so pretentious, I found it hilarious.
