The ViewLondon Review
Dubbed to be the best live music venue in London, Nambucca is brimming full of cool people and hot bands, not to mention cheapish drinks and lots of seating.
The Venue
Hidden away along Holloway road, Nambucca looks like any other local pub on the corner (although the fact it’s black and purple on the outside may seem a little suspicious to most pub veterans). When you step inside, Nambucca looks like a regular pub, too. What makes this venue different is, if you walk through the pub area, there’s a stage and dancefloor, which holds host to new bands and the odd football match.
The Atmosphere
The sort of people that attend Nambucca are usually aged on the cusp of 18 and the dress code is anything that breaks away from the somewhat boring high street fashion. Cobble a few different clothing items together, and you’re just about there. That doesn’t mean the atmosphere is bad if you’re not a fashion student, though. Nambucca is the sort of pub where everyone knows everyone, but this doesn’t mean you’ll be ignored.
The Music
The Holloways made their name here, and hot DJ sets from the likes of Pure Filth and the Rev (Towers of London) regularly bash out red hot electro, rock and classic tunes that make club nights the speciality at Nambucca.
The Drink
During the week, drinks at Nambucca are at bargain levels, but as soon as the words 'club night' come into the mix (usually on Fridays and Saturdays), drink prices are hiked up to what you’d expect from an outer London local.
The Last Word
If you can deal with loud tunes, cheap booze and friendly staff, Nambucca is a top music venue. Watch out for the bands that play here, as they’re guaranteed to hit the charts in the near future.
