The ViewLondon Review
The Notting Hill Arts Club is an underground - physically and figuratively - nightclub that caters for a cooler-than-cool crowd but manages to remain grimy enough for everyone to enjoy. The VenueBlink and you’ll miss the entrance to this hot nightspot. Don’t let the name fool you, as it’s not an art gallery, it is a truly funky club under the streets of Notting Hill Gate. Once down the stairs, there’s a gloomy dancefloor that’s perfect for throwing some shapes and getting up to no good, and lots of dark corners hidden around the graffiti-and-art-strewn walls.
The AtmosphereUnusually for a trendy club, you couldn’t feel out of place here if you tried. The huge range of alternative nights attract a wealth of different people who are all there for one thing – to have a good time. It can get a bit sweaty, but what club doesn’t?
The MusicThere’s a massive mix of nights at Notting Hill Arts Club, every night of the week, ranging from rock to funk to live music. The website has a comprehensive list of which nights are on when, but particularly look out for the edgy hip-hop and RnB nights, and the jazz, funk and boogie evenings.
The DrinkSurprisingly affordable, the drinks menu has beers from Lapland, Peru and Turkey, and all the wines are New World. The mega-friendly bar staff mix up a mean mojito, and offer them in a variety of flavours.
The Last WordGreat venue to party to some serious music, and mix with the cool crowd without ever feeling like you need to dress or act a certain way. Relax with a Peruvian beer and absorb the atmosphere of one of the most individual clubs in London.
