Leave your troubles at the door, Reflex is the ultimate 80s club with an infectious feeling of fun and frivolity. And you might even meet the Hoff (cut-out!).

The Venue
From the bleak streets of Croydon at night, Reflex seems like a bit of a mystery. All that’s truly visible is the rainbow of colours protruding from lit up dancefloor. If that’s enough to make you venture inside, then you’ve made the right choice!

The club seems simple enough, with a small dancefloor, steel tables and plastic seats surrounding it. However, on one wall is a giant picture of the legend that is David Hasselhoff, which pretty much sums up the crazy silliness that is Reflex. The sparkly doors, tacky lights, random leather stools - the whole decor screams cheesiness over class, but it works well with the retro theme. And there are even poles for dancers who really want to let go, so there’s no reason not to have a laugh.

The Atmosphere
Thursdays and the weekends are the nights to come to Reflex, where the queue is always long and the floor always packed. The crowd is the youth of Croydon, so a huge mixture of people that are all bonding together over mental music and cheap cocktails. The bar sells everything you could need to really get into the 80s feeling, from blow up Madonna boobs to sparkly hats and Hoff pants - you’ll soon find yourself donned in everything possible, looking ridiculous but having an amazing time with your friends and complete drunken strangers.

The Music
The playlist is a run down of all the classics that made 80s music special. One minute you’ll be doing you’re best air guitar to Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer, the next dancing to tunes like Madonna before she went weird and Michael Jackson when he was still black. No one takes themselves seriously (it’s hard to when you’re wearing giant, heart-shaped sunglasses) so everyone is just there to make a fool of themselves and dance until they can’t sing along to the Baywatch theme tune any longer. Good times!

The Drink
It’s definitely not posh but it’s always cheap - so perfect for a night out. A surprisingly wide selection of £2.50 cocktails and £2 shooters will keep you fuelled for hours, and with tasty classics such as Sex on the Beach and Woo Woo, it won’t be hard to find a drink you like. Being full of 18-25s, spirits and mixers are also a favourite so lots of good deals are offered to make sure you don’t leave a dent in your wallet.

Ridiculous, unpretentious and hilarious – Reflex is a rare club that delivers a great night every time. Let go and become addicted to Wham!
