Mencap holds club night joined by DJ Tim Westwood with live music from Heavy Load.

Alex Proud, owner of Proud Camden, is extremely honored to host and present the first in a series of nights for his favourite charity Mencap. Named 'Rock the Boat' and hosted in the glamorous surrounds of the old Horse Hospital in Camden.

Proud is eager to put on events that include people with a learning disability and to make the public more aware of this often overlooked group.

Proud is dedicated to creating an environment that will provide people with a learning disability the opportunity to widen their social circles and meet new people in a relaxed, safe and friendly atmosphere.

Rock the Boat tickets provide the opportunity for people with a learning disability to be involved in running a night at a popular venue. Proud has been mentoring all those involved, and has integrated people with a learning disability into all facets of the evening. Everyone from the front door girl, coat check, DJs, bands, the sound engineer, to the design of the poster and flyer have been supported in their roles by Proud’s knowledgeable staff.

The night will offer DJs with a learning disability and bands featuring people with a learning disability the chance to perform. La Rebla Fam, and Heavy Load, UK's only punk band comprised of musicians with and without learning disabilities, will headline the inaugural night at Proud. They will be sharing the stage with a very special headliner who will jam with Heavy Load on the night. Also DJing is Radio 1's Tim Westwood who will mentor DJ Springs, DJ MMM, DJ Shortdog amongst others! Mencap's celebrity ambassador Mat Horne will also be attending 'Rock the Boat' in support of Mencap.
