I had put myself and +9 friends on a guest list for Friday night...However our uplifting spirits and positive energy were turned into anger and dissapointment as soon as we arrived at the venue.First of all our "advanced guest list" were totally ignored and we were directed to the main queue with everyone else.Secondly, when trying to explain that we should be on a fast track entry and even showing the booking page as evidence we were told off and even shouted at by security guys.I have to admit that the bouncers were something else, I have never experienced such a bad attitude and cruel behavior from the security guys in any of the other venues in London.Anyhow, after waiting for another 15 min or so we were told that only 2 of us out of 9 can go in and the rest of the girls have to wait outside...(sudden 2 in 2 out policy were put into place) of course this was not an option for us as we did not want to get lost in the club whilst waiting for the others for who knows how long....And security guys kept on pushing us into the club as apparently we were blocking the way whilst waiting for the rest of our friends....In the end we just took our money back (this got even management involved as I was refused to be refunded the money although my 7 friends were still waiting outside!!!) and went to AKA instead where we were treated like normal people and had an amzing night dancing awai till 4 in the morning. What a waste of time and energy it was!!!!! I will surely not be coming back to Ruby Blue ever again and would not recommend going there!!!
have ya been in since the refurb!!! Swanky, Good Service although bizarre choice of Porn sprinkled about the place-trust me you have to see it, esp the stills in the downstairs ladies toilets!
Had a FANTSTIC night this weekend! There was a great crowd and a brilliant atmosphere! The staff were polite and helpful and seemed happy to be there. Everyone in my patry had a great time and i would recommend to others to book a booth, which acts as a great base for everyone. This place comes highly recommended!!!
Went to this place with a group of friends for a night out, it was very crammed and the dance floor is small, music was fun to dance too but the doormen were quite rude. Not the best place and would reccomend finding another place
Ruby Blue plays good tunes but to say all the PRs were sending people there it wasnt exactly busy!! Lush cocktails thou and good atmosphere overall. Staff were really friendly too!
I was very pleasantly surprised with my visit to Ruby Blue. A group of us dined in the very stylish restaurant on a Friday evening. The food was superb and very good value for money, and the service was excellent. We then moved to a private area in the bar for after dinner drinks and a bit of a boogie. The lady who booked our evening was very helpful, as were the rest of the staff. I would highly recommed this venue!! A great evening was had by all!!
i went on thursday 21st as a last min west end trip, music was standard hip hop r'n'b funky house, every promoter was sending their hussled customers there and it still wasnt full! there were plenty of men available to buy drinks so i didnt spend any money! had quite a funny night winding up the clientel wouldnt go back midweek.
should stick to members only clubs midweek!!
We headed here on xmas eve, and stayed about 15 mins before leavig again, it was dark, dingy and although the crowd was a good mix, it was mainly young 18-21s so if this is your thing then thats cool, if your over 21 then I dont think this is too great.
The staff were friendly and door staff polite and accomodating, possibly due to us being part of a table booking group but none the less no attitude or issues. The floor was sticky and messy tho..not too sure really, could have been so much better!
I have mixed feelings on Ruby Blue.
On the one hand I spent a gorgeous summer evening enjoying the outside balcony and cocktails with an old flame, it was delightful.....
But my previous experience somewhat overshadows this.
My friend and I headed to Ruby on a saturday looking for a great night. What else?
The bouncers were accomodating enough, but inside was a different matter. Men expressing an interest in you can be flattering but not when they become insistant, nasty and won't take no for an answer. We felt seriously uncomfortable.
The music was different... not in a good way. It was mindless, designed for those unable to form words in their minds after a vodka or two.
We left pretty sharpish and I've been determined not to return since.
hi i had a great night in ruby blue last night the dj was very good met a lovely girl who fell asleep on me and her mate tuck her home
If any one knows her i love to chat she tall blonde and very nice
great place
Ruby Blue is amazing!
After having the worst day ever at work I came to Ruby Blue to catch up with some of my friends. The Bartender was super nice, introducing himself and asking me how my day was. I really needed a shooter so he made this grat shot, with baileys and vanilla schnapps.... mmmmh...
It was a saturday and the atmosphere and dj were fantastic and the staff all very friendly and helpful. I would definately come back and really want to try out that stylish restaurant...
Myself and two others turned up at a quarter to ten for a friend's birthday. We were guest listed and everything, yet the bouncers (who were the most unfriendly and ultimately the most rude and abusive I have ever met) started power tripping and telling us we weren't welcome because they could smell alcohol on our breath. What kind of reason is that? Who doesnt have a beer or two before going into a club?
The manageress comes to discuss this with us and is downright rude, and basically tells us that we're a liability and a danger to her club. At no point in our discussion did we even raise our voice, instead choosing to discuss the flaws in her logic. Ultimately she told us to come back later and try again (a blatant ploy to get us to all pay the extortionate £10 entry fee).
Because it was our friend's birthday we went away for a coffee and came back an hour later like they suggested only to be told to **** off by the bouncers. In summary, this place is the worst.
I think Ruby Blue is a really cool venue even though it is quite expensive, but what do you expect in Leicester Square? The decor and seating are awesome though and it's really big so would take a lot of people to fill it. Ruby Blue is best for a nice place to go with friends after work on a Friday night.
I went to Ruby Blue on Friday night, and although I found the barman who served us to be extremely rude and up himself, the rest of the staff were very nice, especially a guy who kept coming to take away the empties. He was nice.
The food was cheap and really good, and the music was fab. I will definitely go to Ruby Blue again very soon, and I would recomend it for sure!
I went to Ruby Blue years ago but it's definitely changed for the better. I took my sister there on a rare visit and had a great time not too busy but not too quiet. Nice older crowd which was really friendly and got chatting to loads of different people. Would definitely recommend it. See for yourself, don't listen to the other reviews. Looking forward to the balcony being up and running in the summer.
Also Ruby Blue has good looking bar staff and very appealing manager although he's not been about for a while - where are you?
The service at Ruby Blue is awful. It took over four hours for 12 of us to have a meal eating off the preset party menu. Six of the starters and eight of the main courses were incorrect as they had run out of what we had ordered but didn't tell us in advance. We were basically told we had to eat what they gave us!
When offered two bottles of free wine to compensate they gave us the house wine having earlier told us that they had sold out thus making us order more expensive wine.
The manager didn't apologise once.
The atmosphere was good as was the food quality but the service was bad. Don't go to Ruby Blue as they really don't care about their customers!
Well, if you want to be charged double, by accident on every second drink then Ruby Blue is your place. I was not the only one in a large group of people for this to happen to.
When informing the manager he oh so nicely tried to say it was our fault for not telling him the first time it happended, then told us if we had a problem we should leave.
Hmm, what management. I wouldn't recommend Ruby Blue to anyone.
Ruby Blue was one of the most over priced and disappointing meals I have ever had. Over cooked sword fish covered in dried oregano - yuck! I really wouldn't recommend eating here, even the creme brulee was horrid.
The atmosphere in the bar at Ruby Blue was okay and drinks were nice but the loos were very grotty. I'd give this place a miss if I were you.
Went to Ruby Blue on Saturday 22nd July and it was wicked. I can't wait to go to Ruby Blue again.
Ruby Blue wasn't anything amazing. We didn't have to wait long to get in or at the bar for drinks, but the place was really packed and there wasn't anywhere to dance or sit especially upstairs.
The majority of the people in the club were rude or just agressive. I wouldn't recommend this club at all, there are lots better places in London than Ruby Blue.
I went Ruby Blue on a Wednesday night for the first time with my girls and we had a wicked time. nThere was no attitude, the music was heavy and I would definitley go again.
I went to Ruby Blue on a Thursday and it was good. I was looking to have a cheap night out and that's what I got at Ruby Blue, because the crowd was mixed and all the men were over 21 and knew how to treat a lady. I didn't have to buy a drink all night.
I had a fantastic night out at Ruby Blue on Friday, got to the bar at around ten to avoid queuing for too long. Then, when we got inside we headed upstairs to the lounge bar where the DJ was playing a good mix of old skool tunes, it was house downstairs but I prefer the fun and cheesiness of old skool.
It was quite busy upstairs and by 12 was full and the dance floor was heaving. The two bartenders were doing a fantastic job too and I never had to wait too long to get served. They were really joining in with the party atmosphere, jumping and dancing behind the bar and even with the clubbers while glass collecting. When the barstaff are having such a good time at work it shows what a good night it was. We stayed till right at the end and had a great time, I will definitely be going back to Ruby Blue!
Ruby Blue is a great club with a fantastic vibe, not bad prices, great music (especially on Fridays), friendly staff and cool people. I would definitely recommend Ruby Blue.
We came across Ruby Blue on our way to another bar, and on the advice of the really nice doormen, decided to give it a shot!
Ruby Blue has an awesome decor. There's loads of room to relax and sit down away from the dance floor in the main room or the upstairs lounge bar, plus some really good music (a mix of house and hip hop) to dance to.
The crowd at Ruby Blue were friendly, as were the bar staff, and all in all it was a great night. Definitely going back.
Went to Ruby Blue on the off chance with my bloke! Was a great night. We will definitely be bringing our mates to this place!
Music was great, everyone was on the same vibe, out to enjoy themselves with no hassle. Ruby Blue was Wicked!
I been to Ruby Blue a few times now and the first time I went was wicked. However, I went to Ruby Blue last month and it was a really bad night.
All the staff are really friendly however, it seems that there are loads of people in there looking for trouble. It's a shame but the rowdy crowds they let in that night turned me off Ruby Blue for good!
Ruby Blue is a good club but on the dance floor it got very, very hot. I guess it makes you drink more but the music at Ruby Blue was some of the best and the club was safe.
After being at Ruby Blue last Friday I have got to say it was one of the best nights out I have had in a long time.
We arrived at around 8pm for a meal in the restaurant. We had booked the table for 10 people but there ended being 14 of us. The manager on duty happilly changed our table for a bigger one, even though the restaurant was very busy. The food was amazing and the staff were very professional, and the pianist was great. We then headed down stairs into the club, which again was very busy.
The DJ at Ruby Blue was great, and so were the cocktails we had. All in all an excelent night out.
Gone are the days of Mark Fuller owning this once fabulous venue. The food at Ruby Blue is good, the cocktails are great, but the staff need serious training in customer service! I booked my sister's hen party at Ruby Blue and took six months to get everything confirmed over and over again to ensure there were no hiccups. We had spent over £800 in the restaurant and were looking forward to the rest of the evening which we were spending in one of the private booths.
We were told we had to be in the room by 8pm otherwise they would release the room however, we got in there at 7.45pm to discover that they had double booked the room! They decided to make us share the room which was squashed and cramped and it completely ruined our evening! I had not spent six months planning a hen do to accommodate them! Their apology was to give us the cheapest bottle of wine from the menu! I have requested that the manager of Ruby Blue contact me to discuss the matter but am fobbed off again and again! It is now one month later and I have still had no manager contact from Ruby Blue. If you are looking to book a party, don't do it here!
I went to Ruby Blue on a Thursday which we were told was THE night to go. It did get really packed but this place was really not my scene: loads of really pushy promo people outside, the bouncers were amateur, and inside there were sooo many pervy guys. The music was OK, lots of R’n’B and hip hop, but a bit too hardcore for me (I do like my chart tunes!). The venue was really nice, leather sofas and mirrored ceilings were great, and reasonably priced drinks, although the loos were a bit shabby. All in all, good venue, but the crowd at Ruby Blue was a bit too ghetto for a suburban girl! Probably wouldn't go back.
Wow, Ruby Blue is brilliant. Not only are all the staff really polite (yes, this includes the doormen) but the food was the best grill food I have ever tasted (go for the ribs!) Also, to add to my enjoyment there was a man sat in the corner of Ruby Blue playing the piano all night with an amazing voice! I highly recommend going to Ruby Blue whether it be for a romantic night with a partner or a girls' night out - you have got to go!
I went to Ruby Blue last month, the venue is really stylish and attracts a good crowd and the music was hot and got the place moving!! The staff are well friendly including the door and bar staff. I had a wicked night would go back!! Keep up the good work Ruby Blue, one of the best nights I had in ages!!!
Ruby Blue is a good place especially on a Friday when Eddie is on the decks as the music varies. That said it is always good and ranges from dancey stuff to RnB, hip hop and some older stuff. Ruby Blue is quite spacious and there's loads of seating available for when you can't take dancing on your 4 inch heels anymore! The drinks aren't too expensive and we have never experienced any trouble. The door and bar staff are always friendly. Ruby Blue gets my vote!
Ruby Blue has a friendly, lively atmosphere with very reasonable prices. The music is good, the food is great and the staff are cool. I'd recommend it for laid back people who want to have fun and dance.
A really nice place. Friendly staff and doormen (which is a novelty nowadays!) Comfy decor, warm surroundings and a great place to party. The only let down is the poor music. It's hard to really let your hair down and party when trying to dance to lame tunes...fix up please.
Terrible. I attended with a party of 50 for a Xmas works function. The table was booked for 9pm and we were told to drink in the lounge bar beforehand. That bar was packed and there was only one girl serving so obviously it took an age to get served.
9pm comes and we were informed that the table wasn't ready. Fine we thought...we are patient enough to wait. We were eventually seated at 10.30. This was ridiculous - you aim to start the evening with dinner, not end with it. No complaints with the food as such but they just really couldn't cope with the numbers. Really spoilt the evening but at least they gave us a lot of free booze so that glossed over the situation.
I don't think I'll be returning but if I do - it will be definitely just be a table for two!
Ruby Blue has a fairly impressive interior and scored big points with us for its comfy chairs and bed-like sofas. We encountered here some of the friendliest bar and door staff in the West End and there was generally an amiable atmosphere among the crowd. The music on the night we visited was mostly hip-hop, r&b and dancehall supplied by a curiously enthusiastic DJ. The VIP lounge didn't really seem particularly exclusive - just a chill-out area for those who walked in from the dancefloor. Drinks were reasonably priced and it became busy about 12.30-1am.
Went to Ruby Blue on Leicester Place back in early April, wasn't our first choice but with no luck at the nearby Zoo Bar we decided to check it out.
Once inside we realised why they had let us in, it was empty, as in not a soul. Even the bar staff were in the backroom. We literally had all the floors to ourselves which was nice. The staff are pretty good but the doormen could do with livening up a bit.
Went to Ruby Blue the other night and thoroughly enjoyed myself! For a Leicester Square spot it's better than the average - although the prices are still enough to make you sweat!
Previously known as Red Cube, but do not be fooled by the constant celeb spotting mentions in the press several years ago. The celebs disappeared with the 90s and this place is struggling to entertain anyone more than dirty men and rough hen nights these days.
The restaurant food is very pleasant, but that is where the postives end. I am not a snob or unusually fussy about a night out, however the music here is appalling, the clientele are all very drunk, very unclassy and altogether unpleasant characters. Please do not go to this bar unless you really are after a gutter night out.
It is a far, far cry from the 'celeb haunt' it portrays, there are a thousand better options, including the Burger King across the road, and you have more chance of seeing a star sweeping the streets outside than you do in this dive.
Ruby Blue is absolutely appalling. They have a doorman, but he's obviously not choosy and the decor...plain shoddy. And they lost my friend's coat at the coat check. They found it after he threatened to call the police and there was little by way of an apology. The staff have attitude. I wouldn't bother again....
