Right, so the following review is about NYE...yah, I know that was ages ago but the trauma of that experience will live with me for the rest of my clubbing life!It is a truly awful place! I will never, ever ever go back there ever again. The almost empty club (on NYE!!!), the staff were rude, our complimentary champagne shot at midnight was never forthcoming, they played music that was popular in the late nineties/early noughties and the place is minuscule. Oh and as for 'in the heart of King's Road' 1) It is *not* on the King's Road, it is on a road off King's Road. 2) It is on a road off the lower end of King's Road near the World's End Estate. As I mentioned, the club was empty, I mean serious tumbleweed going on. The management must have realised that they had made a loss so tried to overcharge a group of revelers. Much to the astonishment of the management the group of party attendees were not drunk, so were not easy to exploit. So the management then proceeded to man-handle certain members of the group, including one poor chap who was just waiting for his fiancee. All in all, crap club with crap service and crap music (I mean, Ja Rule, are you being serious?) and uber crap management. Marie P.s It's only technically in Chelsea, walk 2mins down the road and you're in Fulham!
I will never go back to Rumi ever again. I should have listened to the bad reviews that it gets.
I was out at Rumi's for New Years Eve, I brought a lot of my friends with me and we booked a table with a minimum spend of £300. Towards the end of the night when I guess the bar staff assumed we were really drunk, they tried to charge money to my card claiming that I hadn't reached the minimum spend. When I refused this and tried to leave the club, the two bar staff grabbed me and refused to let me go out of the lounge. My friends and I called the police and when they saw us doing this they then grabbed me threw me outside. I am a girl by the way, 22 years old. I asked to go in to ask my friends to leave with me, but they were already pushing my friends out, the bartender grabbed my arm painfully and started pulling me.
I not only feel abused by these people, I am considering reporting them to the police. I think they will try to charge a large amount of money to my card for which I will take them to court. I have been to bad clubs in London, but I have never been abused before by the staff.
Absolute disgrace. Worst night of my life!
Do not go to Rumi Lounge. Seriously go to any other bar in London but if you ignore me like I ignored the other reviewers I can promise you that you are definitely guaranteed to have a bad night at Rumi Lounge.
What a way to start 2012, I hope this place gets shut down by the police, the staff at Rumi Lounge are criminals.
Went there for a friend's party. I'm older than her, it was her 18th party and she was sharing it with a friend. I've been friends with this girl through our families for years and she really is a sweet girl who deserves a great party. The club had told her she was allowed to have her 18th and knew there would be some 17 year olds there. But then horror! Two days before, they were told that everyone had to bring ID which ensued a panic among her friends and threatened to ruin her night. However, thankfully people were not turned away if they did not have ID, they just could not buy drinks. Lovely ambiance but sadly the floors were slightly sticky which bothered me. There was also a woman hovering in the toilets with a tray of sweets. I took one as I thought she was offering and she shouted rather rudely that everything cost £1. A quid for a piece of gum?! I don't think so. However, the sofas create a cosy, intimate atmosphere perfect for partying but also getting close to people. All in all, not bad.
A local favorite of mine and been going for several years now primarily for the cocktails and music! Can't understand the bad reviews but I guess you can't please everyone and that's one side of the story! Gus out front is always very welcoming and the DJ at 10pm never fails to deliver. He plays to the crowd and not for himself. Keep up the good work guys.
This place is a victim of its own success! They seem to be too busy on Friday and Saturdays to add the personal touch they used to but I guess that happens everywhere. The manager told me they were expanding the team and thrown out a recent manager that took himself too seriously. The music and cocktails have been consistent for years so that's a big plus point for me. The place is small but the vibe when its busy is what makes this place so special. A must visit for celebrations or a romantic date.
If you love music you will love Rumi. Same DJ for a many years as I care to remember but he always delivers. Service and staff usually great but when they get busy it does inevitably suffer a bit. Keep up the good work guys.
Do not go here, bad service, rude staff, they lost my booking on my 25th birthday which meant i had to pay for all my guests.
The staff were more interested in clubbing rather than helping. If you plan to go here for a special occasion please do not you will regret it.
I went to Rumi last night and had an awesome time. I've been to most places on the Kings Road but the atmosphere at Rumi was the best I've experienced. I agree with some of the reviews that Rumi is small but unlike others I had the common sense to find out their capacity beforehand, so it was no surprise. As a local the drinks at Rumi were no more expensive that most places in the area, so if your looking for cheap drinks stick to bargain basement boozers. Champagne taste and beer money springs to mind with some of the reviewers below. Bless.
