I made a dinner reservation at Salvadore and Amanda. We were really excited to try out tapas and sangria that they offer but on our disappointment when we arrived we were treated horribly by someone who looked like a supervisor. This man told us straight away in a rude manner that he can’t find my reservation and that the available table will be in the next 2 hours but we are more than welcome to go to the bar and buy a drink while we wait there. I had a peek at the booking sheet and I saw my name written on there. He refused to believe me and did nothing to accommodate 2 people, which is not really hard, given the fact that they looked fairly empty. I eat out a lot and I have to admit that I have never been treated this way. They should train their staff who work on the door to be friendly.

I eat here last night as I had bought a Groupon voucher for tapas for 2 plus glass of cava. The food was very, very poor - close to diabolical. For most of it I was not sure whether what we were served as meant to be hot or cold as much of it was tepid. The toast with tomatoes was cold and soggy and the strips of char-grilled chicken were stone cold, dry and chewy. Our waiter was very nice though so perhaps they have addressed their service issue. There was no atmosphere 8-9pm when we were there but I appreciate that Spanish eat much later on. I cannot believe that a Spaniard would serve up that food without being very ashamed. Go to Nuevo Costa Dorada instead.

I was really concerned about going here when my friend told me this is where she'd picked for our monthly "ladies what dine" night - the reviews on here were terrible and elsewhere on tinterweb too.
I was pleasantly surprised!

We had soooo many different plates, let me see if I can remember them...
1. Chorizo - very nice, well cooked, not too fatty, hot
2. Prawns in garlic - well cooked, enough garlic but not too much
3. Pork rib - oh my gosh. These were amazing. So incredibly tender - the meat fell off the bone, enough sauce - delicious.
4. Patatas Bravas - yeah, ok, standard patatas bravas, but what more can you do?!
5. Mushrooms in garlic - nice variety of mushrooms, enough garlic
6. Stuffed peppers - luuussshhh - really really tasty! Good stuffing, nicely cooked.
7. Potatoes with chorizo and egg - random but super nice and tasty!

And.... wine was nice, good Argentinian Malbec, it wasn't too noisy but not dead at all, quick service, friendly staff, I had three glasses of wine with dinner shoo wassshhh a bit tippsshhhyy by the end but the menu came to £25 each including service.

Recommended!! Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because, well, if I give this place 5 then what happens when I get whisked off to Le Manoir?!

Overpriced with lazy unatentive service. I know it's meant to have a quirky atmosphere but it really could do better. How on earth our meal came to £37 i'll never know and 12.5% for service which was either forgetfull or none existant defies belief.

The highlight? probably the humour of trying to figure why they's brought us a bowl of chrisps with a chilli on top and charged us £3.

There are much better Tapas bars in London so i'd say this one is best avoided, i'd even think you'd get a better experience going to La Tasca and that's saying something...

Went for dinner last night for a company do and the food was absolutely shocking.

The chicken was rubbery and came in a gravy type sauce whilst the calamari was like chewing on rubber.

Very disappointing.

I took spanish girlfriend to the restaurant for valetines dinner & was very disapointed with the sloppy service. The portions of food were terrible & the food was way over priced. My spanish girlfriend noticed the quality of the food straight away, we refused to pay the service charge because of the hole experiene of the evening & i would safely say i wouldn't reconmend this restaurant to anyone.

By far, the worst experience I've ever had in a tapas bar.
I went there on Saturday with South African and English friends and as a Spaniard I was embarrassed about the quality of the food (one of the paellas was sent back to the kitchen almost untouched and the patatas bravas had nothing that stale tendencies washed with own brand supermarket tomato sauce).

The worst part was actually having the person responsible for the floor telling me that I didn't know what i was talking about when I complained about the food and accusing me of doing it in order to get some money off.

I person in question get some training in how to deal with complaints as well as some manners.

I have been down to Salvador and Amanda a few times now. Went with a group of about 20 the first time and the tapas were perfect to share and to taste a little bit of everything. After that, my friends and I have gone back because it is a nice place to sit down and have some sangria. Whether you go in a big group, after work with some friends, or are looking for a romantic dinner, Salvador and Amanda is the perfect place to go.

Terrible: a tourist hell-hole for people with more money than taste-buds. Very over-priced, revolting, oily food - even the bread costs money (£2.90), surely a sign of a tacky restaurant if ever I saw one. I understand, given its location, that it has massive rents to pay hence hoiking up the price of dishes but if you actually want genuine spanish food in a central location go to Cafe Espana on Old Compton St (for cheap) or Barrafina on Frith St (for high quality at the same prices as Salvador). I can only imagine the reason it stays afloat is because of the tourists pouring out of the tube with little inkling of where else to go or misguided office workers too tipsy to stumble any further. Warning: after happy hour, the restaurant turns into a disco... need I say more?

i go here all the time for after-work drinks and i love it- esp during happy hour.

The food is ok, but reasonably priced. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff are very friendly.

I went here for my birthday not long ago and it was pretty good.

I have to say, I didn't have any food as we were purely there for some drinks and some banter and arrived at about midnight totally by chance.

The decor is nice and quite unique for places I've been to in London. It was busy but not rammed so we were able to get a booth.

The music was good, and the beer was good although the prices for some of the drinks were a little high, but that's the West End for you!

In short I'd definitely go again, and if you find yourself out that way and don't know where to go after you've been kicked out of the pub at closing time bear this in mind!

Music could be turned down a little as the crowd tends to get quite noisy in order to be heard over the music.

Visiting for my spring break from the US. Went down to Salvador and Amanda for tapas and sangria around 9:30 and ended up staying until around 3:00 in the morning.

Loads of cute guys, great drink list, and lots of dancing. I would recommned this place to anyone for either a simple dinner date or a late night out.

I celebrated my 21st Birthday at Salvador and Amanda. It was my first time at the venue as lt was recommended by a friend. The decor was really relaxing and inviting.

Staff memebers were freindly and kept us all very welcomed. Tapas was great and eneded up stayin thereand drinking longer than we'd expected. its definately a must check out!

I've been to Salvador and Amanda quite a few times now and each time has been been thoroughly enjoyable. I had my birthday there last year which was just brilliant. The atmosphere was great, always very lively. The food was superb - as was the Sangria! The staff were friendly, accomodating and very helpful.

I can confidently reccommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a lively sociable night out with friends. It is certainly one of my regulars. 4 stars all the way!

The executive summary: nasty tourist trap to avoid like the plagueI have lived in London my whole life and I go out to eat regularly; Salvador and Amanda is probably the worst dining experience I have had. We were seated at 8.15pm and by 10pm we still hadn't been brought our food. We were forced to go with the set menu because we were a group of over ten, and that was the classic group rip-off that tapas dives do: not bringing anything like enough food for what we were paying. We had about four patatas bravas each, one piece of chorizo, two mini bell peppers, etc.

All for an extortionate £18.50/head! We complained to the manager, who, rather than apologise for the fact that two hours into the meal everyone was angry and hungry, started disputing how long we had actually been waiting. It was Fawlty Towers without the humour. He then lied and said that he'd bring some calamares on the house; which then appeared on our bill! To top off this awful experience, naff techno is blaring out over the speakers to create the "fiesta" atmosphere. Utterly, utterly horrendous.

Often go here after work for sangria and tapas and although they do make you vacate your table at a certain time i have always been told this when making my booking. They do a happy hour Mon - Fri too which makes the Sangria £9.00 a jug! I think this is a great place to go in Leicester Square, its not too touristy and its got a really great atmosphere.

Booked a table for my birthday bash for 7.30 which I assumed was for the whole evening, was told when I arrived that I had to vacate the table by 9.00! Don't let them offer to pre-order for you "to make it less stressful" as the amount of food they ordered per person was ridiculous - far too much and obviously more to pay. We actually had to leave two large paellas untouched!

Check out the Rose Sangria - £20.00 a jug so roughly £5 a glass! Total rip off! Staff are rude and look out for the waiter who our entire table overheard saying "get rid of them" to another waiter ready for the next sitting. The "authentic" tapas taste as though they are deep fried and microwaved - the tapas at La Tasca are even better than here! Would never go there again.

I recently went to Salvador and Amanda for my birthday with a group of friends. We had a brilliant night. The food was delicious and the jugs of cocktails really hit the spot! The staff couldn't have been friendlier. The great music made us all want to dance. All in all a really fun night with a great party atmosphere. I would highly recommend it

We had a great time. Loved the sangria and food was delicious. I reccomend the chicken drumsticks yum yum!!
The bar staff were lovely and cute :-) When the music changed to more dance floor style we were all up dancing off our meal - smiles all around.

The atmosphere and friendly staff make this bar an absolute joy to visit. I recently visited on a girls night out and found the staff at the bar extremely accomodating. The food was excellent too a taste of Spain right in the heart of London.

Salvador and Armada is the worst bar I have ever been to. I went last night for a friends 30th and had never been before. Before we even got in the bouncer tried to charge us and had no idea that my friend had arranged free entry.



Once in, the bar staff, some of whom could hardly speak English, turned off the draught beer at 10pm, forcing you to buy more expensive bottles. Then as if to completely disrespect their clientele, I found that when ordering drinks with a card with a total less than £10, the staff simply rounded my bill to £10 without telling me.



Bearing in mind it costs no more to process a transaction under £10, this behaviour is simply arrogant and rude. Oh and the food at Salvador and Armada was an hour and half late - and pretty bland. Finally the actual atmosphere was pretty grim as the clientele seemed to be a mix of wide eyed tourists and fresh faced teenagers - interspersed with some regulars who seem to be under the false impression that this was a trendy hangout simply because of its central London location. I will never go back.

We happened to wander past in search of something to eat and low and behold we got not only fantastic food drink but the service at Salvador & Amanda was excellent and the staff - well, what can I say? They were brilliant. A special mention goes to the door man and the bloke who seated us - their banter was fabulous. We will definitely be back to Salvador & Amanda and I will be recommending the place to everyone I know. Well done.

I had this place booked for a hen night at the last minute as the previous venue had double booked us. The staff and service at Salvador & Amandas were fantastic and they had everything ready for us on arrival, despite the place being heaving already.


They had good drinks, and the food was okay for a large party, but the atmosphere and dancing until 2am was quite simply ace. Salvador & Amanda is a great place for groups but not for a first date.

I did not really like Salvador & Amanda. I went there on a Saturday night and expected a much bigger place.
The music at Salvador & Amanda was only old tunes, there was not space to move around at all. Although, the decor and staff are quite nice, I would not go back.

I recently organised a work function at Salvador & Amanda and after the truely fantastic time we had there I felt I should share the great news! From the first call I made to reserve our area, to the great food, friendly staff and delicious sangria I could not fault Salvador & Amanda on anything. The feedback from all who attended was exellent too, so thanks guys. We'll definitely be back soon.

I loved Salvador & Amanda, it has a great atmosphere and I found the staff to be helpful, friendly and attentive. The food was excellent too and arrived quickly. I never felt rushed despite Salvador & Amanda being very busy and the cocktails are great, in particular the cinnamon crush!

Went to Salvador & Amanda on our work Christmas party. Good, lively venue but strong advice, do not eat here.

We paid £28 per head for what we thought sounded like a great menu. It was in fact a few plates full of some pedestrian tortilla, some soggy calamari and a few profiteroles. There wasn't half enough to go round.

As it was a Christmas party, we weren't expecting Michelin star food, but this was woeful and we were well and truly fleeced.

Service at Salvador & Amanda was non-existent.

Salvador & Amanda is a great place for a large group of people; great tapas, cheesey tunes and friendly staff (I don't know how they cope doing table service through the crowds!). I also love the great mix of clientele you get at Salvador & Amanda.



My only complaint is that I left my card behind the bar for a drinks' tab and at the end of the night I got charged nearly £5.00 service charge. I decided to forgive them (because the barman had spent 10 minutes making me the best Bloody Mary I've ever had) but it was a bit unfair as I'd left a generous tip on the separate food bill. So my advice is to ask about service at Salvador & Amanda before opening a tab.

I loved Salvador & Amanda. It was one of the cheesiest places I have been in London and the Saturday when I went was mixed with extra cheddar. The Boilerhouse Boys play some fab cheesy music at Salvador & Amanda, ranging from Abba to Whigfield and my favourite, Keith and Orvill.

I been to Salvador & Amanda a couple of times on a Saturday night now where the bar was in full swing with a Curiosity Killed The Cat tribute night. Definitely recommended to all of those groovy guys and girls out there who love a cheesefest.

Didn't really rate Salvador & Amanda as far as an authentic Hispanic experience goes. The interior is interesting and intimate in style but there is no real atmosphere to go with it. The drinks at Salvador & Amanda are very over priced and the tapas are hit and miss.

You could be forgiven for walking past Salvador & Amanda, it doesn't grab you from the outside, but if you ever have just walked past then you have missed out on a really great place to drink. It is dark and ambient inside, with candles on every table. The staff are friendly (the barman insisted I take his number) and it really isn't too expensive. It would make a great place for a date - the various different little areas to sit mean that you can easily find your own intimate spot, but it gets pretty busy on a Friday so if you do decide to take someone there I would suggest booking a table.

This is a nice bar with friendly staff, attractive decor and an interesting drinks menu. However, go early if you want to get a seat. Also, be prepared to leave early as the seat you are at is probably pre-booked by someone else for later in the evening! A bit too full of hen parties for my liking, but I'm sure they enjoy themselves. Overall this is a welcome replacement for the stuck up Saint bar.
