Following BBC Director General Mark Thompson's announcement last week that iconic radio station BBC Six Music will close, a one-off event is being organised at Proud Camden this Wednesday 10th March to raise awareness and try to reverse the decision.

Last week's announcement of the cost-saving measure attracted an overwhelming level of support from listeners, presenters, musicians and key industry figures, with the Save 6 Music Facebook group totalling 150,000 members and counting. The campaign is being run by Jon and Tracy Morter, the couple behind the incredible success of last Christmas' campaign to get Rage Against The Machine in the No. 1 spot, with help from 2-active, Filter magazine, All Night Long and Proud Camden.

The event aims to bring together a selection of high profile musicians, up-and-coming bands and radio DJs and presenters to raise awareness of what is at stake should the closure go ahead, with all profit going to Shelter. More acts still to be announced.
