the worst place to be i hope the boss go there and see what is going on there.
I have been to the Sports Cafe on a Tuesday and my and my friends' first impression was a little bit like this: oh, yeah, many men, looks a little bit dirty but lets see. And, after half an hour, it was like this: Wow, very very cute English men, quite crazy atmosphere and music that was okay. And you get a beer for £1. Have a look!
I've visited Sports Cafe on different occassions, watching football and drinking on Saturday evenings. It is very difficult to find seats for both occassions unless you are dining or going there before 7pm. The decor is simple and American themed. Most of the time they have large groups of people (i.e. American students and tours) packing the place after 10pm.
The music is very generic from RnB to old skool. The dance floor is quite spacious downstairs but basic. However, if you are after a simple and not glamourous Saturday night then Sports Cafe is your place. Drinks are okay priced.
I think the music should start earlier and the sexy boys shouldn't arrive too late. Another problem is the cloakroom organisation, which is just awful. I've never seen before such messing around if you want to get your coat and bag. However, Sports Cafe has great decoration, atmosphere and music. Not to forget the crazy dancing competitions.
Just to get an idea of what Sports Cafe is like, go there on Monday for a cheap night out and meet some different people.
Sports Cafe has cheap drinks (and not the good kind), and dirty boys. Go there if you want to be groped. It is also extremely smoke filled. Do not go to Sports Cafe.
I often go to Sports Cafe, as I think the themed nights they do are brilliant, especially the Wings on a Thursday. It is a great place to watch sport, they show all major events, and enjoy a pint. Then after the coverage the DJ and music provides addded entertainment at Sports Cafe.
Avoid Sport Cafe like the plague. They should remove the word 'sports' from their name because sports lovers do not want ear-splitting music and a DJ during the broadcasts. Is it too much to ask to be able to hear the person next to you? The drinks are overpriced and they give you change on a plate as if we tip bar staff in England.
I found the Sports Cafe staff thick and the venue had an uncomfortable vibe, full of yobs who forgivably thought it was just another chav bar. Going to a sports bar on holiday in America is a great experience. This was dreadful.
Sports Cafe was just awful. Never go there, it ruined my day.
A nice meal at the Sports Cafe, but it was pricey and the biggest curse was that the place is smoke infested. Move with the times Sports Cafe.
I got dragged along to Sports Cafe for the Chelsea-Liverpool game, and have to agree with the guy below - what an awful place.
There was a DJ, an annoying DJ who was like someone on the radio or a crappy nightclub (he was playing music like Oasis and talking about the football). I would have liked him to shut up and to listen to the actual football build-up on the TV. But no, he carried on until the very second they kicked off.
There were five TVs near me at the Sports Cafe, but only one with Chelsea on, despite it being the main sporting event. Three TVs were showing some other game that nobody was watching. But would they change the channel? No.
The atmosphere at Sports Cafe wasn't that great - the bar was slow and overpriced and the place is smokey and tacky. There are a thousand better places in London to watch football than the Sports Cafe. Avoid!
I give Sports Cafe five out of five!
I love the Sports Cafe. I was recommended this place and I have never had such a good night. Sports Cafe is great value. I love it.
The Sports Cafe is great.
The floor was sticky and the toilets didn't taste nice...poor experience at The Sports Cafe.
The Sports Cafe does not deserve its reputation. I went here with friends last night to see the Lions game and all of us came away determined not to go back. It took an age to get served drinks before the game because for some reason only one of the two bars on the first floor was serving despite the place being rammed. We were unable to order food as the staff could not deal with the orders they already had. Some people who had ordered food before us were not served until the second half of the game. Not only that, there was no pre-match atmosphere in Sports Cafe as the venue would not switch the commentary on until just before the game. To add insult to injury the bar staff even messed up our drinks tab when we tried to pay and were surly and uncooperative throughout. I'd hate to see how this place would cope with a genuinely big sporting event. Even a Monday night rugby game attracted a decent crowd and it went into meltdown. Avoid Sports Cafe like the plague.
The food at The Sports Cafe is actually surprisingly good. I particularly like the burgers and the ribs.
The Sports Cafe's a great place to chill out with mates.
Your best bet is to go to the Sports Cafe on a Monday night and get the one pound drinks. The main reason anyone else goes here is to watch sport. They have all the sport you can imagine on Sky - not that you can hear it because the music is so loud. Sports Cafe is also full of American tourists so that adds to the noise.
