I went there last Friday as part of a group of 20 or so people for a leaving do. We arrived around 6:30 & the main bar stank of incense/joss stick/some horrible sickly sweet smell, presumably to cover up the aroma of dance-induced sweat in the early hours but way over the top this early in the night.
Within 5 mins one of the hostesses came over badgering us for our email addresses so she could send us "offers" which I found annoying - I'd like the opportunity to decide if I like the place before I sign-up for your spam list thanks.
An hour or so later one of the staff took one of our girl's drinks which still had about a 1/3rd left in it while she wasn't looking (from a crowded table so there's no "I thought you had left" excuse). When I complained I was basically told I was a liar by the manager as "people try that on all the time" - probably because your staff do it all the time pal!
Anyway I bought the girl a replacement drink & left as I refuse to carry on drinking somewhere that treat their guests like that.
I booked a "booth" in Sway for a friends Hen night. When we arrived, none of the staff knew who to ask regarding showing us to our reserved section, we ended up wandering around till we spotted the smallest table (the size that a dinner for 2 can fit around, there were 9 of us!) tucked in a corner. There were no chairs or stools for us to sit on so we had to plead with the other larger tables around us (that had hardly anyone sitting at them) to let us take a stool for us to share sitting on. There were no table decorations of any description which were promised in the package booked. Eventually a waitress came over to us with a bucket of ice with the "champagne" and a lit firework in it (which fizzled very quickly) and 5 flute glasses - did I mention there were 9 of us? Then the cocktail jugs came over, again with fewer glasses than the actual number in our party.
We decided to have the complimentary food platters latter in the evening but when someone went to the bar to ask about it, she had to wait nearly 20 minutes to be served. Not because the bar was busy, it was because the barmaids served all the males coming to the bar first.
The DJ was utter tripe at mixing (if you can call it that!) He didn't even play songs in full before changing to another one. Just when you get 2 lines into the song and having a bit of a dance, he'd change it! He also repeated quite a few songs too.
I have been to the various other "sister" clubs that offer the same packages and have to say that this is the worst one I have been to so far. The only decent thing about here is there is a nice polite woman in the lady's.
i went to sway with a friend,i was kind of curious with the door staff at first,as me and my freind was on the guest list, after a few questions,we finally got in.The place was absloutley ROCKING!3 rooms of top music,dance,rnb-hiphop,and commercial music-it was waay beyond what i expected.I was finding myself dacing too all sorts off stuff!1 minute in this room, next minute in another. The crowd was nice, few moody people, but you get that everywhere!I would definatley reccomend sway, this has to be 1 of the top clubs in london that i have been to in a while!
Rude Staff!!!I booked a booth in the Groovy Wonderland Room for £50 which included private booth, table decorations, a bowl of retro sweets, Free guest list entry, a sharing cocktail, chocolate fodue with marshmallows and fruit. What i ACTUALLY got was:- table decorations = a bunch of ballons- a bowl of retro sweets = a very small glass cup of sweets- Free guest list entry = We arrived at 9.30pm, i went up to the bounce as there was a que and told him i had booked a booth, he very rudely told me to get in the que, they didnt let any one in for ages so i tried ringing the club to let them know that we was stuck outside, by the time they let anyone in it was 10.01pm. As i went to walk in the rude lady sitting at the door said i had to pay £5, i told her that my booth included free entry but she said as it was past 10.00pm we had to pay (all 20 of us)! I asked to see the mangaer, who was standing outside and i explained to her that we shouldnt have to pay, her response was pay or get out! She was VERY RUDE so in the end we all had to pay! My friend booked the same package last year and she got a much better deal, we were even 10 minuets late and they still let us in for free. Her table was decorated with lots of goodies including Michael Jackson gloves! Iam very dissopointed with the treatment i recieved and i would NOT recommend this place nor will i ever go back.
I went to Sway for a bite to eat last night, with a few of the girls I work with. I was pleasantly surprised.
We were greeted by a friendly bar tender and seated in a cosy booth.
We opted for the bar food selection, platters, nachos and a goats cheese pizza which was delightful. For the amount of food we were served it was great value for money.
Although the entire club was not open, we did ask if we could have a sneak peep at the bars down stairs, one of the staff members showed us around. There were plenty of bars, one even had a flashing floor, like something from Saturday night fever.
I can't wait until the weekend, because we have booked a booth for Saturday.
I would definitely recommend Sway x
I've read some negative reviews about Sway so checked it out myself for the first time Saturday 4th Feb and had a TOP NIGHT! Set up a guest list and got in free before ten - door people were polite & courteous, and all staff were friendly & approachable. Of course it helped that I was sober and dressed smart - although I saw several guys wearing jeans (1 group were in fancy dress) and the ONLY problems of the evening came from drunk customers - 1 idiot girl knocked over 2 glasses in 5 mins whilst staggering about until her friends took her away.
Drifted between Crystal Room and Groovy Wonderland all night, following the decent tunes and strutting my stuff!
Disappointed that the professional dancers weren't on duty that night but I danced with plenty of other terrific ladies, plus even got into a dance-off with one guy who challenged me...then his friends cheered ME when I beat him!
I Shall Return!!
; )
Booked a table on Friday for 15 people, i had 22 guests that turned up in total. Upon my arrival I was taken to a very small table (6 chairs) at the Cream Bar, I asked to speak to manager as this was not the area which I usually stay with my friends. A blonde girl introduced herself as the club manager , I explained that I thought a misunderstanding had occurred with my booking and whereas she could help, because when I booked the table I first called the club and explained where i would like the table to be, the reservation person told me that particular area which i had described was in the Cream Bar - this was not correct. What really bothered me was not the fact that i didn't have the table in the area I wanted but the way the manager dealt with the situation. This person has got no customer skills whatsoever, she was very unfriendly, patronizing and made me and my guests feel unwelcome.I was shocked with the way she spoke to me, we were spending loads in the bar so I would have appreciated someone a bit more polite dealing with the situation.
Also, trying to get a drink in the main bar was over 20 minutes wait. My husband and I actually had to complain about this bar girl that ignored us for over 20 minutes . She was ignoring people waiting patiently by the bar for long time and straight away serving those that have just got to the bar. All in all , Sway will not be a club where i will come back again, really their loss, working only few minutes walking away from this venue and being in a large company with over 2,500 staff and being involved with a number of events i could definitely use a large venue like this one for our parties but there is absolutely no way that i could put up with such unprofessional staff! No surprise the bad reputation of this place...
This place is terrible! I booked a booth for 10 people for my birthday only to find that we could barely seat 6 of us in it! We were not greeted on arrival and had to wander around trying to find the booth with our reservation on it. I had paid £25 for the booth and was promised this back as a "bar tab" only to find that I had to wait 20 minutes for the manager who turned up and said "yeah? name?". Extremely rude!!! I waited nearly 20 minutes for this treatment. Sway Bar advertised 50% off drinks until 10pm in January however whe I requested the 50% off vouchers (as they weren’t at the bar as promised when I booked) I was told that I would have to wait again for the manager to be available. He then handed me ONE voucher for the total group and said that we were only allowed one round of half price drinks. This is not stated on the website or on the many posters they had outside promoting this deal. A friend had to track down the manager and explain the promises made on booking before he begrudgingly gave us a few more. I was also aware of a number of other people having the same problem and the Manager's treatment of PAYING customers was disgraceful. You were left feeling humiliated for asking for something that they were advertising!!!I was also surprised that for a busy Saturday night there was so few employee’s working the bar, the wait to be served meant that many of my friends felt like they spent more time queuing to be served than actually enjoying themselves and to top it all off the tills crashed part way through the night!AVOID this place at all costs....If you are a fan of their cheesy disco room, go to The Loop instead..at least when they say its Happy Hour it actually is and the staff are friendly.
Had been to this place once before with a group of friends for the comedy club, which we all enjoyed and the club after didn't seem too bad. HOWEVER, booked a VIP booth for £100 for my mate's hen party recently - included platters of pizza and tapas, champagne, shooters, cupcakes, confetti and balloons..etc and was supposed to include queue jump entry for everyone too. We arrived early before the required time of 10pm, walked straight up to the doorman, who told us we were all too drunk to be allowed in. Firstly. we had all had about 3 drinks each and were by no means DRUNK! tipsy, yes, but it was a HEN PARTY! There is nothing to say u must be stone-cold sober -we were not staggering and we were being loud or rude to anyone. Obviously once being told we weren't allowed in AT ALL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES we were all very angry that our night was being ruined by doorman on a power trip. Then, we were told the reason we couldn't come in was because we ''had attitude''. OF COURSE we had attitude by this point!! The guy on the door was also the GM and I can not believe someone like this runs a club. They expect u to pay in advance and then don't let u in! We were also told we could ring them for a refund, have rung a few times now and struggling to get our money back. In the end we walked around the corner to another club which we had no problems getting into, but missed out on our food and everything else we had ALREADY PAID for!If u are booking a VIP booth for a group, make sure u haven't had any drinks before turning up at the club, which is just ridiculous as the main reason for booking a booth is for birthdays, hen and stag do's, so they should expect people to turn up at 10pm having had a few pre-drinks!To save disappointment, avoid this place at all costs. We don't even believe they had a booth ready for us!! Absolute scam. My mate will never get her hen night back and I feel so bad that I didn't read these reviews first, because I never would've booked
DOORMEN/SECURITYWe had a hen due organised and oh how wrong we were to choose this place. The door staff was one of the worst ones I have ever came across. No respect, zero professionalism and no manners whatsoever. To my shock I find out that one of them was G.M. of the club! Working in a customer service for almost 10 years I have only one advise - AVOID THIS PLACE!P.S. No stars from me
Had my Christmas party here with ExxonMobil here last week. It had an amazing atmosphere and everyone in my group said it was the best party they've had! It's the first party I have organised for my company and the sales team made it all really easy and stress free.
Everyone had a great time and even though it was absolutely packed the staff at the bar made sure the wait wasn't too long. However, next time I book I'll probably want a private room - Milk looks amazing!
Thanks Sway - 100% recommended.
Many thanks we had a really enjoyable time at your restaurant/bar we thought the food was excellent very good service and atmosphere. Just though the 10% service charge on the end a little too much. Otherwise 9/10. Will see you again sometime when we are next in London Best wishes, Lily
May I say how impressed I was with the service in the restuarant!
We went to Sway for our Christmas party last week, although our food order was messed up, the staff rectified the situation without any argument. We also had a round of complimentary drinks to apologise. As far as Im concerned job done!! Quite happy with the outcome and will derfinitely be booking for next year.
I went to Sway with my boyfriend and his male friends for the Jongleurs Show, and we had absolutely no problems getting in, or with the doormen. In fact, everyone was extremely helpful in ensuring we had a great time. Later in the night, my boyfriend lost the rest of our party, went outside to ask a bouncer if he had seen them, and this lovely guy actually helped him find us again.
The 3 Course Meal as part of the Jongleurs Show was delicious, and great value for money. We will definitely be returning in the New Year.
I am shocked.....I have been a regular customer of Sway for over a year now and I have never had a problem with the doormen.
I was at Sway on Friday last week for my Christmas party, the food was good, the service was excellent and a good time was had by my entire party. The only complaint I have is that I wasnt ready to go home at 4am!!
I have to say I always enjoy my evenings and lunch time bookings, my friends and I will be customers of Sway for a long time to come.
Merry Christmas to all the staff and thank you for looking after me when I visit.
I usually like to write a lengthy review listing my gripes with these kinds of establishments... but all I can say is...
Sleazy shithole!
That's all you need to know. Read the other reviews as they are all right.
Having read other review after my visit, i completely agree with the negative feedback on security and door men at sway.
I was enjoying a wonderful night at sway celebrating my 31st birthday.
I popped out for a cig with my friend. on my way back in the bouncer/doorman punched me in my chest, and pulled me out of the line and said i could not return inside. gave no reason whatsoever. clearly he must have mistaken me with somebody else. in attempting to speak to him, he pushed me on the road. it was 2am at this point and i just wanted to go back in and pick my jacket up. the doormen refused point blank. The security in this place behaved in the most disgusting way. In my many years of going out in town, i have never been treated as bad as the people here.
NEVER GO BACK.
We went here for a Birthday Celebration, and booked a 3 course meal and about 20 people turned up in our party which we had told the management in advance(2 weeks in fact),We got there the seating was cramped ant the table we had was only for 15 people so we had to get the staff to get another table, which wasn't a good start or impression.Well the food was great, the service was okay, not the best but I have had worse service, The comedy show after our meal had to be the highlight of the evening, then we asked for the the bill and got a service charge added on of over 30% which was never explained to us, and to be honest has put all of us ever going back, as we spent over £550 and our service charge was £165 which to be honest is ridiculous when it should have only been 10% and should have been optional, totally disgusted by that. But apart from that I would recommend thi splace just ALWAYS go to the bar and never get them to wait on the tables for you.
I compleatly disagre with the previous 5 complaints (all connected)
There is always two sides to a story. The club asked the party to leave due to a prevoius incident by one of the party.
The club refunded the money paid for the area on the night, directly back to the card holder.
Furthermore, the venue even arranged for the pary to go to Tamari around the corner of the venue. (as we did not want the whole party to suffer)
I was also there when members of the party used bad and offensive language towards myself and the doorteam.
Yours,
After reading previous reviews I will be giving this club a big swerve! The is no way for a doorman to treat his customers!
Disgraceful!!
I went here with my girlfriend to join my sisters party (she had rented out an area), only to be confronted by a very angry, aggressive and rude doorman who accused me of causing trouble at the club 2 weeks before and even another club on the previous monday! I was very confused so explained he had the wrong person. What was even more disgusting was the way he verbally assaulted my girlfriend when she was trying to calm him down as she asked for evidence. We were never aggressive in explaining that I wasn't there 2 weeks ago.
The head doorman came along and told the other security guy to go as we tried to discuss the situation like adults, which the other one was definitely not. He told us we could go in but I told him I was uncomfortable with going in for my girlfriend and my own safety. Also for my sisters parties safety. Fortunately most of the party had not gone inside yet so my sister removed her party from the club and made sure she got her deposit money back.
This one bouncer ruined over 25 peoples night, an absolute disgrace! I will never be returning to this place again. I wish I could give it zero stars or even negative!
If you want to have a great night out and party where you will feel safe and respected, sway bar is not the place to go. I will be sending the club a formal complaint.

Was confronted by a very angry, aggressive and stupid door man last night, who accused my boyfriend of causing trouble at the club 2 weeks earlier and at Tiger Tiger earlier during the week. When I asked him to provide evidence of this and to check CCTV was told the club had none?! After telling him his accusations where stupid as he had no proof was verbally assaulted by him.
Very concerning that a man with such poor judgment and a temperment like his is in charge of ensuring peoples safety at this club. I will definitely not be returning and will be following up to ensure he is disciplined for his disgusting behaviour.
Personally if you are male or with male friends and looking to have a good night out I would stay away from the place.
Organised my best friends hen party at Sway. Firstly when we arrived for cocktail making the staff who greeted us seemed irritated we were there! After explaining we were there to do the cocktail making we were ushered in to a room and left. When the guy finally arrived the cocktail making was fun - however, we paid £30 for a 2 hour class and it only lasted 1hr 15 mins - we were also meant to get 3 free cocktails each which we did not.
After bringing this to the duty managers attention I put her on the phone to Polestars who it was booked through & we were given 1 free cocktail each - better than nothing
We had paid for our meals in advance and they already had our orders - service was fairly slow and confusing but we were still told to get off the tables at 8pm exactly though some had only just received their deserts!! Rude to say the least. We also paid for a VIP booth which promised so much - we got a bottle of Champagne and Vodka far from what was promised! The area was dirty and smelt of cheesy feet - the manager on Emma also commented to this effect when showing us to our booth! Later in the evening I came back to the booth to find one of the security staff arguing with one of the ladies in our group - he was shouting stating we all had to put our handbags in the cloakroom?! Never have I or anyone else ever been asked to do this - I went to find Emma and he followed shouting still and being extremely rude to the lady from our group...very threatening and confrontational & trying to call security! Finally found Emma who could not understand why he had asked as to put our hand bags in the cloakroom. She apologised and said she would have a word - obviously a big mistake... I went outside to join my friend to have a cigarette and was told by the bouncer I had to move down to the other end which was packed and I could not stand with my friend. I was shocked and told him I was standing with my friend - he threw me out - I would NOT recommend this place to anyon
went here for a leaving party, they have a 50% off drinks offer running before 8pm, service was a tad slow but we were a large group! food not all that great but a pleasant experience nonetheless
Went this weekend with a large group of friends. Was slightly dubious due to some of the previous comments on here, but it turned out to be fine. No problems getting in (we had booked a booth), and the atmosphere/crowd was typical of a bar in the area. Don't try to expect this place to be the same as the likes of Amika, Movida, Whisky Mist, it's not and I don't think it ever tries to be. If you're realistic with what to expect then I'm sure you'll have a good evening.
Love sway, we wanted to go for my birthday in the beggining of January but they were shut so we booked for their opening night it was amazing the restaurant is so elegant with beautiful decor it was so different and more enjoyable.
we were taken downstairs by a host who showed us to our booth it was fantastic they had put cupcakes on the table and sweets in mini martini glasses its was deff something special for me confetti everywhere really really enjoyed my self and my friends couldn't believe it they want to come back and have theirs at sway i cant wait.
so so much fun the club looks so much better deff needed it cant wait to go back i would deff recommend it to any one city based or party goers
We came to Sway for a pre-theatre meal, we did not have a choice from the main menu so we were limited on what we could choose, but you get what you pay for! The food we ordered was very nice and well presented! The food area was very near the bar, and there was generally a loud buzzing atmosphere around the tables, however, this did not bother us. This was ideal venue for what we wanted and we would go back and do the same again.
Not really worth a visit. I went there once for a friends birthday and the atmosphere of that obviously distorted my view of the club as a whole. So I mistakenly went again. The rude security staff expect you to plead with them to get in to the club. Once inside there are different rooms (all cramped) that play the same songs at different times to create the illusion of playing a mixture of tracks. All in all if you like good music and don't like disrespectful security staff driven by ego, this one might not be for you.
It's vibrant, starts quiet and gets louder later into the night. Different rooms mean different music, so everyone will find something they like. Plenty of bars, although it would be good if they were all open during happy hour, which is a great time to turn up, not just for the cheaper drinks, but you get to enjoy your space and freedom to move before it gets packed.
Services has varied in my experience, but mostly fantastic. One time I left my umbrella in the club under a chair at 1am. I called the club from the taxi, and they picked up! They went to get it and held on to it for me to return to pick up! That is fantastic service. The supervisors are always busy but essential to authorising special arrangements, there us one Asian guy who is particularly good, unfortunately, there is only one of him, we need more! Bar staff in general are good too, but as a regular and someone who spends a lot of time at the bar, I have notice the on many occasions that the male staff tend to ignore male customers in favour of the pretty girls to serve first. Not good. This behaviour can really ruin a guy’s night, because it was obvious and discriminatory, luckily the lovely girl bought me my round as she was not looking to be served before the guy in front of her.
Door staff are excellent, and should be even more strict on who they let in, it protects paying and decent customers from trouble makers. The crowd is mixed, and that’s a good thing. Sometimes you get idiots in there, but most people are cool.
There is a small room called Suede, and although its very nice, the music does not match it’s mood, size and look. The music is way too loud. I expect that room to be slightly quieter for people who want to spend serious money at the bar and drink and chat. This is why it’s usually empty by 11pm.
I was at Sway last week, and although it wasn’t the music I had hoped, it was a blast. Be open minded and sensible and you will have a great time. If you’re immature, forget it!
Do not bother if you are looking to go in a large group, regardless of male/female ratio! Organised a joint birthday and did my best to make sure everything will be fine on the night in terms of getting into the venue, explaining that a few guys will be coming first and the rest of the girls will follow and I was assured it will be fine. However on the night this was not the case, to be put in short I was faced with rude doorstaff who seemed to be on some power trip and it took over an hour before I was actually in the venue. Once in, things were not looking up, found out our table was given to another group and then had to put up with the rubbish tunes for the rest of the night. Try your best to avoid!
Visited Sway on Saturday night and have to say it must be under different management or the people in charge have improved things as I didn't have many of the same problems others on here have had.
I really did enjoy my time here. Did not eat as had eaten before getting to the club, but did go to the comedy club, which was really great.
All the staff, bartenders and doorman alike were all very friendly and welcoming.
I did lose my phone in there, but I'm positive this was just as much my fault being drunk.
Theives! Had my very expensive mp3 Player removed from the inside of a zipped jacket which was left inside the cloakroom(which they charge for btw). I will not go to Sway ever again and tell anyone who is having drinks there to avoid. I don't even trust the management as they offered me no support for my loss. In short if you have anything lost or stolen they will not want to know.
Forgot to mention (I'm still recovering from the horror that is Sway). My friend lost her handbag. Someone did hand it in, but all the cash had been taken - although they'd left her a £5, I guess for a taxi?!
I normally go to much more alternative civilised clubs so I'm really not used to fights and theft.
AVOID the nightclub like the plague.
Food: OK, so the food is excellent for the price.
Drinks: We went for the half price cocktails at happy hour. I don't usually drink, so 4 cocktails should have had me floored, I was actually pretty sober so I'm guessing there isn't much alcohol and alot of ice. The waiter cleared our half full glasses regularly too. It was more like one drink for the price of two.
Comedy Club: John Maloney and Bob Mills were excellent.
The Nightclub: If you're someone who doesn't understand music and tend to buy your CD collection in the supermarket then you'll like what's on offer at Sway. Seriously, who goes out to dance to JLS. People who go to Sway that's who. There was a fight at the entrance. I haven't seen a fight at a club for years, but then again I don't normally go to classless, faceless, brainless nightclubs like this - so that's probably why.
Wow! What a night! A superb meal and the best comedy show I've ever seen! We stayed fir the club afterwards but were knackered
the manager Zolly was well wicked
gave us free shots!

Went last night for a friends 24th birthday and after reading the reviews on here i was a little worried. However i shouldn't of been as other than a few problems it was a good night. We were nearly half hour late for dinner and there wasnt a problem, we went straight in and to our table. Food was nice, a small problem with the bill in that we were charged for dinner when we had already paid as we were also going to the comedy club downstairs but once explained it was changed it and there wasn't a problem. The club itself was a little packed and at one point we couldn't move let alone dance but it was a Saturday night in London. The only down side was the really expensive drinks, average price for two were about £14.
Sway should Not have any stars at all. I went last week, there was a fight outside the club. The security weren't even bothered. One security guard was too busy trying to chat me and my other girlfriends up! He was soo ewwww. Not to forget the inside. Worst service I have ever had. The bar staff drunk falling all over the place. I was livid. If I was managing Sway I would fire the entire staff and get new security and bar tenders. Hope the manager takes my advice
Do not normally write reviews but please give this club a wide berth! had debit card pick-pocketed from bag in this place and then they emptied my account within 2 hours. If you do go here, please be very careful. Also I think they got my pin at the bar whilst buying a drink with my debit card. Thieves operate in this club.
This place is also full of letchy Asian men and is full of bad attitude. Will never be going back even if you paid me! Also door staff are very rude.
Visited there on a student 'chocolate' night. The club rooms get VERY hot and you will be sweating. There seems to be no air conditioning in there. Drinks are typical student prices on a student night. The club is easy to access via the holborn underground station.
