I recently booked a table for my Mum and Dad as a little "Thank You" present (just for being lovely people)

Anyway, I just wanted to say a huge "Well Done!" as they had a wonderful time and were delighted with the food, the cabaret and especially the brilliant and friendly service they received from everyone there. They had a real laugh and could not sing your praises highly enough.

Before going they had a certain amount of trepidation and although I had been to your place once in the past and tried to re-assure them it'd be fine, I knew they were a little uncertain so I was really happy when they called the next morning to say they'd had a superb time.

So there you go, congratulations all 'round and a special mention for Trixie who took the initial booking and was a delight to deal with.

paid for a performance plus food. first impression - recent refurbishment means a great loo, clean and wide open spaces. but overall feels cramp where the dining area is. there was a stage that folds up when they have the trapeze. performance was mix of trapeze and fire-eater (awesome), burlesque (pls don't take it off!), pain=inflicter (self harm obviously a must from a young age). food was OK, tiny portions and the fish smelt a bit off. the sorbet with the shot of vodka was inventive though. they ran out of house wine which was included in our set meal and let us have a bottle of our choice which was nice. good mannered staff but training is just bit poor as food was late, then wrong. cloakroom doesn't charge which is nice. a DJ takes over after the end of the performance, pretty funky music but we also have to give up our table and seats for revellers that have booked an area, get the feeling that we weren't wanted once the last morsel of food was eaten. overall, underwhelming.

Went to The Brickhouse recently for a party for a big group of my friends and I must say I was overwhelmed by the quality of service offered. I though that this we make a great venue for my girlfriends surprise birthday so booked a table for restaurant dining this time. On both occasions we received excellent service and couldn't fault the delicious food available on the evening. We organised a cake through the venue and got a mention in the cabaret for my girlfriend which she loved and the manager even gave us a free bottle of bubbly to mark the occasion! I have read previous reviews highlighting the fact that the Brickhouse doesn't live up to any other 'burlesque clubs' in london, however, I'm sure it is not actually even trying to be that as it clearly offers a wider variety of performance such as visual circus / trapeze, comedy, song, dance and some burlesque so that perception seemed strange, one just needs to watch a full show to realise this. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Brickhouse to anyone looking for something a little bit different, whether you are wanting an intimate dinner for two or celebrating a special occasion in a big group. It is a very decadent and cool venue without being pretentious which makes it a very special place - you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door and this is mainly down to the friendly staff from top to bottom. I will definitely be returning and have recommend it to all my friends who will be visiting soon and they are not even from the End End!

I have never before been tempted to write a review of anywhere I have been - however the unbelievable rudeness of the manager there when I visited recently deserves to be highlighted. My sister had booked a vip area for my hen night with some nibbles to watch the show - the view is very limited (more of a bird's eye view) so can't really comment on the peformances. I have certainly been to better & more intimate burlesque venues (volupte lounge/madame jojos) where they made more of an effort to involve parties, stags and hens. The Brickhouse is trying to be too cool (burlesque is supposed to be tongue in cheek - they don't get it). After dinner & the show the space is cleared and it feels much more like a bar/club. However the music is all wrong. The only people dancing were a few of my girlfriends - which didn't last long as there was nothing decent being played. Again trying to be too cool. I very nicely requested that the dj played something a bit more upbeat and he flatly told me that they "don't take requests". How very unfriendly. I decided to ask for the manager at the front desk to see if he could arrange a bit more lively music for the crowd (all of whom looked totally bored) - and when he eventually turned up, he took one look at me and as I opened my mouth to talk, turned around and walked off ignoring me. It actually really offended and upset me. A friend of mine decided to also try and have a word afterwards and ask him to apologise - he then propositioned her into his office(!). She was not impressed. It's a shame, The Brickhouse could be great. I used to live on Commercial Street and love Brick Lane - but The Brickhouse is a typical example of somewhere that's lost its soul. Arrogant, rude and unfriendly. The manager shouldn't be working in the service industry full stop. They didn't ruin my night - we moved on elsewhere. I'd warn anyone not to try The Brickhouse and can recommend many other burlesque clubs in London that beat this hands down.

If your talking about Andrew the manager. He tried to rip me off last night. I was owed my £310 deposit back as we had spent more than our minimum spend in the bed bar. As he put the refund slip on the bar for me to sign he carefully placed his thumb over the the figure that was being refunded. I took the slip away from his reach and realised he was trying to hide the fact he was only refunding me £250! I ripped it up in front of him and he soon refunded me the £310 after arguing it with him in his office.

Wow! At last a venue I can go to for good food, live entertainment, drink and dance without being ripped off on price. The staff made the night even better and without having to go all the way over to west London was a bonus!

Great night had by me and my mates and I will be definitely bringing my partner back here for a special night for just the 2 of us.

Great night out! A really unique experience that I would fully recommend to everybody. Great food and cocktails, really spectacular cabaret - in particular circus trapeze that makes the most of its three floors - including a chic bar at the top with beds! Really friendly staff and reliable service. I will be going back no doubt.

STEER CLEAR of this place if you want to have a good night out!! The whole place feels dodgy, the atmosphere feels forced and the door staff are the rudest and most intimidating I've ever come across - for no apparent reason! Bad vibes from this place. Just go somewhere else - there's plenty of other good places to choose from!!

Having wanted to go out to East London for a Saturday night out with a group of friends we booked into The Brickhouse as we had heard alot about it previously...

The venue is pretty special inside - it seems like a secret sanctuary amidst the rest of Brick Lane.

The food was really special as well - the pork and black pudding croquettes with sauce grabiche, quail egg was delicious - one of the five courses on the set menu which was extremely good value for money at only £35 a head including the live show entertainment - it was served by a really friendly waitress as well which always makes the difference.

The entertainment was hilarious - there was a mix comedians throughout the night. We stayed later on aswell and didn't have to pay for some top DJ's too which is always a bonus! Overall the Brickhouse is a full unique night out and good value for money - it might not float everyone's boat but if your are up for something a bit different, something is classy but not pretentious, high quality yet good value it is definately up your street!

We went there last weekend for a friends party.

I was surprised that the menu was SO limited. I knew it was a set menu, and we were given the choice of 3. The whole table (10 covers) had to select and agree on the same menu - you can imagine how hard that was!! Unfortunately there was some mis-communication on which menu we should have, and we were given the wrong menu. The manager was ever so apologetic, and gave us some champagne as compensation. The quality of the food was very good, and the rare tuna was definitely the highlight of the meal.

The cabaret show on the night we were there was one of the worst shows I've seen. 'Piff the magic dragon' (I kid you not) was appalling. Definitely not worth the £10 they add on to the food menu's.

The DJ's after the cabaret were playing Techno, and the night felt a bit flat and didnt ever really get going. It felt like the venue was too clean for the type of music they were playing.

I spent £80 in the Brickhouse and I feel a little let down. If you want to go to a top London restaurant go to somewhere like Chez Bruce or The Connaught. If you want to go to a top London show go to The Lion King. But don't try and combine the two, it just ends up being too much of a compromise.

Went to The Brickhouse recently and had one of the best nights out in London I have had for a long time! The food was spot on in terms of quality - the five course menu made for a perfectly relaxed sitting - the fact that they don't turn tables takes away the urgency usually found in most restaurants of this calibre. The comedy entertainment was also amazing - didn't realise that most of the performers that evening I had seen off the telly previously - magicians Barry and Stuart had the whole crowd captivated with their illusions and a female comedy singer lightened the atmosphere with her songs about embarrassing sexual situations! A great night thoroughly enjoyed by all, we will definitely be coming back soon!

Horrible, disappointing evening. Firstly, the whole venue has a distinct 'footballers wife' feel to it- which feels out of place on Brick Lane. The staff try to be nice and welcoming, but it all comes across a bit bitchy and insincere. Especially when you realise how much service charge they're going to lump on your bill - about 20%. The wine was cheap in taste, but pricey on the menu. Food had potential to be tasty- £25 menu looked interesting enough. But fool proof touches like bread on the tables, was inexcusably stale. Creme Brulée dessert was slightly sour tasting and rushed out the door, after we complained about the speed the meals were taking. We sat down to eat at 8.45pm and we were still waiting for final course at 12am. And the cheese came out before the dessert?!£10 a head on top, for some very mediocre entertainment.

An unfunny and foul smelling compare (we were sitting down on the ground floor) attempted some circus tricks, a quiet little bendy lady did some difficult handstands and a small blonde girl came out twice to do an odd combination of stripping and prancing- certainly not "burlesque". Felt a bit sorry for her, in her cheap Primark knickers. The birthday girl in our party, was charged £20 a head for her 5 friends that cancelled on the day + the £10 a head deposit was kept on top of that. So the Brickhouse made an extra £150 from a poor situation. What 'restaurant' does that? There were 12 of us remaining, so they weren't exactly losing money. Truly felt like punching someone by the time we left. And I'm a nice lady. Great concept- bad place.

I'm not usually the type of person to write negative reviews and hide behind the anonymity of the internet, however I feel obliged to let people know about the arrogant and rude bar staff at this venue.

I was at a private party on Friday at the venue and was v impressed with the space and the amazing entertainment in the form of Fallen Angles. My night was ruined though by the 40-45min wait for a drink and attitude of the bar staff.

I've worked in a bar before and know how hard it can be when busy but this was different, I was being completely ignored. I even asked one barman if they serve people in the place I was standing, they did.

Tens of girls were served before me, one girl even said that I was first but the barman persevered in serving her. At this I became incredulous and said something along the lines of "come on mate, I've been here for ages"...he argued that she was first and he said if I wanted to get served then I would have to change my attitude.

I ignored the ensuing red mist and nearly bit my tongue off. When finally served I muttered thank you through gritted teeth on receiving my drinks. The barman then took five minutes to give me my change back...which was completely pointless and churlish behavior.

We've all experienced slimy, arrogant bar staff in London that are oblivious to anything with a p**is...but to get a whole staff quota of them is quite something.

Get some woman behind the bar and drop the attitude.Could have been a wicked night.Gav

I use The Brickhouse as my regular in Shoreditch and have been there many times. I have seen the bar heaving and the staff behind it working their socks off to serve everyone as fast as possible. I am male and have never had bad service. The thing I like about the place is that the staff are so down to earth and not at all arrogant. i am genuinely surprised at this review which runs so in the face of other reviews i have seen.

Fallen Angels is on at the moment at the Brickhouse, we went to see it last Friday and stood at the bar sipping cocktails.

We loved the show, what fantastic entertainment! I believe it is on until the end of the month.

Go and see it, forget the food - stand at the bar, you won't be disappointed

I went with some friends to The Brickhouse on a Thursday night just for drinks and it was one of the best nights I've had in London.

I rang ahead to check whether I needed to book a space for drinks and the person on the phone was very friendly and helpful and said it wasn't really necessary but that she'd hold one of the 'beds' for me just in case.

when we got there we experienced the same friendly treatment - my friend wasn't drinking so they made a custom-made non-alcoholic cocktail just for her!

the atmosphere is awesome, helped by their house band Ta Mere who were brilliant, excellent music to have dinner with or just to watch and have a boogey to on the top level of the place where the beds are.

a great venue and one me and my friends will definitely be going back to.

A few friends came in from out of town, so we thought we would give it a try.Fantastic as it was only a Tuesday night, the food was great and the band was even better. A mixture of swing and French stuff, ending with some low down American get up and dance tunes. We had a great time and it was a true reflection of what this big city is all about.

The Brickhouse is an interesting venue and worth a visit - as long as you aren't planning to have a quick meal! Visiting recently with a group of friends, the wine and food took an exceptionally long time to arrive - we arrived at 8.00 and left at 11.00 and they still hadn't managed to bring the dessert. When we asked about the dessert we were told in no uncertain terms that we had only been waiting 20 minutes and it takes a long time to prepare (I'd ordered cheese) so it wasn't coming any time soon. We had to leave before it arrived but were still charged for a three-course meal! It wouldn't have been so bad if the manager had managed to squeeze out just a tiny apology. Still, the band was good and if you just want to go for a drink that's fine - you can always get chips on the way home!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this wonderful choice of venue for my sophisticated hen' day / night yesterday.

After a superb day of events, cava on the lawn in front of the london eye', taking a rib boat down the Thames to docklands and back, taking a 'flight' on the london eye - fully catered for with Champagne!, we then jumped into taxis to Brick lane.

Arriving in Brick Lane, expecting a curry, I was surprised and very pleased to be taken to this unique venue.

Great food, wine and cocktails + entertainment all rolled into one. All the girls had a great evening dancing on stage after the TABULA RASA - swing performance, and had no need to leave the venue to hunt down a club later on. We arrived at 7, and stayed until 2:30am.

I can strongly recommend this restaurant / entertainment to couples or groups, not many restaurant comfortably cater for both so well.

Thank you Magz, Suze + Gemma and all the girls for such a good send off, and memorable evening! .....and of course not forgetting the staff for putting up with us.

I recently went to this restaurant with a group of friends and had a really great time. The food was simply amazing. I had rare tuna to start followed by one of the best filet of beef I have ever eaten (it came with a grain mustard ice cream which sounded strange but really worked). For desert I had a fig tart which was served with a clove ice-cream - again really great combination. There are no real suprises ta the bar, classic cocktail list, but what they have they do well and we did have a really nice red wine with the meal.

A first for me - our meal was also accompanied by live entertainment (in our case a burlesque singer) - the waitress informed us that the entertainment varies regularly - in that past they have had acrobatics performing in the vaulted ceilings (!)

What really sets this restaurant apart is the space it is housed in - an old brewery. However, rather than go down the warehouse feel (which so many of the places do) the owners have decked this place out with desginer furniture and bold artwork.

I live in the east end, and for me this is a very welcomed edition to the area - I will certainly be going back!

Went for dinner at The Brickhouse on Friday. It is very new and very different. The food is absolutely fantastic - not surprising as the chef Matt Reuter has previously worked at a number of Michelin starred restaurants. There were two acts on that night - quite unusual but very interesting. We had our table for the whole night and towards the end most people were chatting and socialising around the downstairs area. The beds on the top floor are great and the venue is different and will definitely be the place to go before long. Highly recommended.
