I met up with a couple of mates here a while ago (Sat I think) and the place was heaving and very hot. But the music was cool and there were some old school garage and hip-hop tracks I haven't heard for years - let alone in a club! I was well impressed with that.

Anyway I've read what people have said about the bouncers and I had a different experience, me and my mates jested with the doormen all night and it was hilarious when we went out for a cigarette now and again. They are just people like you and me but if they don't want to let you in they have their reasons. It's silly to get so upset and post a review saying how crap and rude they are - because obviously there wouldn't be people saying good things.

The drink prices are a bit of a piss-take though, I got a 2 Coronas, 1 JD&coke and 1 vodka redbull and got coin change from £30...

Wasn't much of an atmosphere in the place either - also there was a group of stupid ar$eh0les wearing dark sun shades and bumping into people (we thought that looked hilarious).

All in all not to bad of a place, but i want to try Friday as I hear it's much better.

Me and two friends and I went to The Gardening Club on a Thursday and I just can't understand some of the complaints about it that have been made on here.

The barstaff and bouncers were friendly and attentive, we didn't have to wait long at the bar and the air con seemed to be working fine.

Now it was my first time going and it may well be different on other nights but I loved it. There was a great mix of music, it was Happy Hour until midnight, our cocktails were prepared very professionally and we had the opportunity to both relax and have a bit of a dance!

I will definitely be going back

Having attended The Gardening Club for a hen night I can safely say that I will not be going back again.

The night on a whole was good, and I have to say that I like a bit of cheese. My one and major disappointment was the VIP area and the treatment we received from the safe and the manager (I think that's what he was)

After the maid of honour booked the VIP area she was told that there would be a minimum spend of £400. This was fine as it would mean that every would spend £25 each. We knew that we would go well over that, it was a hen night after all. What they did not tell the maid of honour was that we would have to spend £400 by 10 o'clock! This meant that we had an hour and a half to spend £400, given that drinks and food were half price this was really hard.

I wouldn't even mind but they didn't treat it like a VIP area, letting other people use the bar!

Needless to say that we all spent out £25 each and did not put another penny behind the bar. Shame as they would have got some much more than us.

My suggestion is loose the attitude, get better air con and bigger toilets! Then you might have something to be so pompous about.

I certainly will not be recommending this place again. Shame because it would have been an ideal club for a Saturday night uptown.

If even if your life depended on it don't go!
Despite being in the guest list the wait was still 20 minutes. On entering we were met by five different hen parties and a 25 minute wait at the bar for two overprice nasty beers (grolsch) was the icing on cake. The loo smells gave a delightful ambiance, needless to say we cut our lost and left.
For those that ignore this more fool you.

Bouncers are very rude! They seemed to go out of their way to annoy customers. Infact one bouncer started being very rude to one of our members of the party, for no apparent reason!!! I have never come across this sort of behaviour before in my life.

On the other hand, music is good. Drinks are stupidly expensive though.

I enjoyed a quiet cocktail in this cosy venue and was most impressed.
It was well decorated and inviting, and attracted a nice crowd.
I will be going back.

The Gardening Club is a great club and bar in a fab location. I love the cocktails and the happy hour makes it a cheap night out too, which is very rare in Covent garden!

The staff are always attentive and courteous and the place has a great atmosphere. The Gardening Club is the ideal venue for nights out with friends if you want to have a good time!

I love Gardening Club. I know the other people who've posted were mean about the doormen and staff but they've never been anything but lovely to us.

It's a great mix of music which is what a group of people looking for a good, relaxed night out want, I thought. Gardening Club is a good, cheap for london club with an interesting mix of people and there are a lot hotter clubs out there. Does anyone complain about the heat in Brighton's honey club for example?

Gardening Club is hot because it's underground... there's only so much air con can do down there with a full capacity club. And thats why there's a one in one out policy - it's always full because people love it!

Be warned! On Monday 3rd July I took a large group of a college leavers prom to the Rock Garden and Gardening Club. The service and food in the restaurant was amazing but the service and behaviour of the staff in the night club was appalling. The doormen were rude and behaved inexcusably towards a party of 75 who had booked months in advance. After our meal none of us were allowed in to the Gardening Club even though half of it was roped off for us and remained empty.

When I started going to Gardening Club it was really good, a nice amount of people, not too crowded, not too empty and it was great that you could get such cheap drinks. That’s still a great thing, but now more and more people have discovered it, it is less special.

I am still a regular at Gardening Club but it’s far too busy, the air con simply doesn’t work, the toilets are far too small and the queues are absolutely ridiculous, not mentioning the bouncers and staff are the most arrogant and unfriendliest people ever! If you try to smile at them all you get back is a frown. Having said all this I am a poor student and on a Tuesday I give in and go there. If they sort theses problems out, Gardening Club will be a very pleasant, great place.

I am a regular at the Gardening Club. I usually go for after work for drinks on a Friday. The staff have always been attentive and friendly.

The happy hour deals are fantastic with all bottles of wine half price. The doorman has always seemed welcoming and I am planning to hire out The Gardening Club vip areas for my birthday this year. It is a little gem!

I went to the Gardening Club not long ago. As I attempted to ask for information the bouncers and the staff in general were rude and arrogant. They essentially told me to piss off and told me to get out of their way because "I was not a regular".

I will definitely not be going back to Gardening Club. There are plenty of more venues in London.

Went to the Gardening Club on a Tuesday night and the club was heaving with students and low income sorts. Most of the crowd seemed friendly and the music was tolerable. The exception being the Aussie barman who I thought highly aggressive and whilst we were queuing the door supervisor tried to separate our group by only allowing the ladies in but eventually they agreed to let us go in to the Gardening Club together after coming to the inevitable conclusion it was all or nothing.

If you are a student, the Gardening Club is the best place to go and have a wicked night, especially on my favourite night, Tuesday night! They do £1.00 drinks which are definitely not watered down and free entry before 8pm. Brilliant! I think the music at Gardening Club is quite good from what I think I can remember! From that point of view it is quite a good venue.

But Gardening Club is let down on so many factors such as rude and useless bouncers and disgusting toilets (such a let down as the decor of the club isn't bad). It is actually like a sauna in there - I always feel like I've lost about 1 stone every time I leave!

Apart from that I'd say this is quite a nice club! Go to Gardening Club for the experience, but don't expect too much from the service. What can you say for £1 drinks?

I went to the Gardening Club on a Monday which is student night and had a good time. It's free to get in to Gardening Club if you have a student ID card. I had a good time but I suppose it depends what night you go.

Having been to the Gardening Club on a Monday night, getting an apres office crowd after a couple of bottles of wine letting their hair down to cheesy (of the older disco variety) music, I thought going on a Saturday night would be ok for a few hours.

Be warned, Gardening Club is nothing like it is during weekdays as it is at weekends. At 11pm there was a queue outside, which was fairly encouraging, and a one in one out policy as the club had reached capacity. Paid twelve pounds to get in and by the time we'd walked to the bar we were already breaking out in a sweat.

The place was like a cattle market, my ass was grabbed about 10 times in the space of 2 minutes by rowdy, pissed groups of men and we walked straight back out immediately. The place was the antithesis of class.

Be warned. I'd be reluctant to go back to the Gardening Club even during the week after seeing the place at a weekend.

Unfortunately I found the bouncers at Gardening Club rude and after waiting half an hour and presenting a passport I was still told that I was not able to get in to Gardening Club as I was too young.

After spending £400.00 in the restaurant next door to the Gardening Club (excellent food but one waitress for a table of 13!) we were asked to wait outside in the freezing cold for well over 35 minutes.

At this point the doorman at the Gardening Club decided to inform us it was now one in one out. I don't know what I missed out on but I don't think I'll bother finding out.

Please do not waste your money by going to this awful little dive in Covent Garden.I went to Gardening Club on 01/10/05.

Firstly, the bouncer was rude and arrogant with no respect for the people waiting to get in and pay his wages. Secondly, I and the other poor fools who had paid to enter this hovel were all sweating like marathon runners in the desert after 5 mins, as temperatures easily went past 100 degrees. Thirdly, the music was supoosed to be RnB, Soul and Funk... Can anyone remember ABBA or The Bee Gees being Soul and RnB musicians?

Gardening Club is awful. If you value your cash and your time choose another venue, this place is rubbish.

The Gardening Club is awful. I went there for the first (and last) time on 26/09/05. Their website advertised entry as free. When we arrived the extremely rude Israeli doorman told us it would be £4. I think he may have been trying to scam us. The twat even made us wait until after 10pm to ensure we'd have to pay.

Other than this small penised retard, the rest of the Gardening Club sucks massively. The toilets are rank, the drinks circa £4 for a bottle of beer, the band were of sub x-factor reject standard, and subsequent music very unimaginative.

Don't go there, it's rubbish.

The Gardening Club is the worst club I have ever been to. The place is disgusting. The toilets are a nightmare and more than disgusting. I have been to Gardening Club twice in my life and I'll never go there again. The first time I went to Gardening Club I was with two female models and just as I arrived, the manager refused me entry. The second time at Gardening Club was definitely worse though - the music was crap and the hygiene in the club was terrible in my opinion. I just drank bottled beer. Conclusion : I would never go to Gardening Club again.

Gardening Club is excellent! This place is a bit of a hidden gem with a barely noticable entrance on Covent Garden Piazza. At the weekend the club can get a little too packed but there's always a great looking crowd. Mid week is when Gardening Club is at its best. It's the perfect spot for after work drinks on a Thursday. Laid back music early in the evening turns more upbeat as the night goes on.
