Been there a couple of times, once for a meal where the staff were really helpful (one of the party had an allergy to gluten and the waitress checked all ingredients for her) but the rest of the food was poor. The second time was a couple of weeks ago for a birthday drink and I did not take my coat off at all - it was FREEZING. Stayed for a couple and then left. The drinks are pricey and the till were broken so took even longer to get service. Not a place that I would rush back to
I visited the Langley for a friends birthday. The bar was very trendy and stylish and the music was good however a lot remained to be said about the prices and customer service of the bar staff.
We had not been to the bar before and therefore were looking at the only menu on the bar. We ordered some drinks but when the prices were told to us they doubled. They said that was the 5-7 menu however on the page we were looking no where did it say it was happy hour prices. The happy hour menu should have been removed after 7 and replaced with an after 7 menu-we were ordered our first drinks at 8.30! I thought this was very sneaky and not a good impression. We mentioned this and the bar staff were very defensive and rude. He said he would get the manager but he never bothered to come talk with us.
We then ordered three rounds of the same drinks over the course of the night and every time it was a different price. Then, when I questioned the bar staff they were extrememly rude and demanded a previous receipt. I went to get the receipt as I had kept it and they only then charged us the correct amount. I informed the bar staff that they should work on their customer service and were again very rude. Lovely bar but a real shame.
Ive been visiting The Langley for almost 3 years now and have always had a great time.
The restaurant is what it is and doesn't pretend to be out of this world, just good food and very resonable prices and I will continue to eat there as will all my friends.
The bar itself has good music and bar staff are very friendly.
I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants to have a nice evening.
Terrible experience! Booked for pre-theatre. Menu was terrible, service was sloppy and the vegetarian option had BEEF in it! Over rated, over priced and will never go again. Save your money and vote with your feet - this place should be shut down!
Do not waste you time going here. This used to be a decent place but has degraded massively in the past 6 months. I had myself and 7 others on a door list for Friday, got there on time and they knocked all of us back. The useless doorman even tried to tell me I wasn't on the doorlist after I showed him I was. This place tried hard to be something it clearly isn't. It's overpriced and the service has always been terrible.
Don't bother with The Langley. I organised birthday drinks here two weeks ago and put my name on the guestlist plus 20.
Any of my friends who arrived after 8pm were turned away with the door staff saying that they had no record of my name on the list and that it was guest list only until 10.30pm after which they could pay £7.00 for the privilege. This was despite me confirming with the Langley the day before.
Inside was lacking with atmosphere and by 10pm most of the second room and dance floor area was deserted. What was meant to be a fun evening out turned out to be rather lack lustre.
The Langley bar is massive but seemed to be strangely underpopulated by bar staff. I overheard someone at the bar ask why he had been waiting so long and the barman told him he was standing in a no-mans-land between two adjacent bar stewards, before serving someone else. By 10pm they had run out of all bottled beer and by half ten they had run out of all wine and alcopops.
We were in a big group of people and when our drinks arrived, what should have been vodka and tonics tasted of stale water. One of our party complained to The Langley management and we did get a round of drinks on the house, but I would only return under duress!
I just came back from The Langley. It's not bad for a warm up drink, but do not stay for more than an hour before hitting some proper venue, otherwise you will spoil your night out. The funky, cool type of club music gets too annoying after two hours and the songs seem to be endless.
The crowd seemed to be quite cool at the beginning but got too drunk, and stepping on dozens of broken glasses on the dance floor didn't help either. The bar staff are rather quick, but unfriendly. I wouldn't mind that much that The Langley is situated in a cellar (as many bars are) but I don't like the unfinished look of the ceiling.
