Well, after reading lots of good reviews of this place on a Sunday I thought I'd check it out. Whilst it does have a nice chilled atmosphere on a Sunday (and surprisingly, lots of kids in the restauranty area) there were a couple of things I wanted to share..
Not very good vegetarian choice. In fact no "choice" at all- only one thing on the Sunday lunch menu (not including the Brunch menu) that was not a meat dish. At least have the option of a veggie burger or something no?! Or even some fish for people who don't feel like having red meat?! Luckily the one veggie dish on there was ok. But just Ok. The boyfriend opted for the lamb roast, after I had told him about all the good reviews of the roasts. Again, this was Ok. But just Ok. Better roasts can be found just down the road, and for a few quid less it has to be said.
Oh and when we ordered the food they told us we got a free drink each to come with the food! Great, we thought. But then had to remind them of this and only got the drinks after we had finished our meal.
So in conclusion, at the risk of repeating myself, this place is ok. But just Ok.
Nice place, loved the decor, and the staff were brilliant. Will be back.
If you want somewhere where the bouncers are exceptionally rude, where the manager shouts at you when you lodge a legitimate complaint about his security staff then does nothing when the same bouncer deliberately knocks a drink over
you, well except arrogantly lean against the bar and call you 'honey' even when you ask him not to... then you'll love this place. But I won't be going back - and neither will my friends, nor my friends friends...
Went and had birthday drinks on the back of reading these reviews. Most dissapointing evening for a while. All hype and well below expectations. talk is cheap...
Went down for drinks at the weekend. One of the best cocktail lists I have ever seen, and I'm pretty fussy. Had the superberry sling, which tasted like it was actually good for me. Our waitress was a diamond. Will be back again soon.
Had a lovely meal here the other night. I had a lovely mozzarella salad to start, really tasty mozzarella, not bland like so much stuff out there. My girlfriend had the Mussels which had a beautifully spiced cream sauce. For mains, I had the nicoise salad, the tuna was top draw, and my girlfriend had the sea bass which was simply served but again clearly very good quality fish. The wine list was a good size and the gavi di gavi we had was delicious.
Our waitress was very nice too.
Altogether a great night. Will definitely be back.
Lovely bar. Really friendly staff, delicious cocktails, & looks great. The best bar in Clapham.
A bit of an uninspiring entrance, but then what a suprise when you walk through the doors, with that cool concrete bar, and that amazing hanging ceiling thing. We were greeted by a lovely waitress the moment we came through the door, and she looked after us the whole time, and recommended some amazing cocktails, the Jasmine and elderflower collins is spectacular. Will definitely be back.
