I went to see a great band at The Mean Fiddler, they were The White Rose Movement. The support band, Humanji, was one of the greatest and I've since heard a lot about them. It was a brilliant night at Mean Fiddler.

Opposite the a huge coporate monster of a building and next to a great Chinese takeaway resides the Mean Fiddler. Went here for New Year's Eve. They had an Rnb/hip hop night there. To be fair I had no idea what to expect of this place as it was a last resort because other clubs were too expensive! But it did its job of providing a good night. It was obviously packed. They handled the queue v.well but there was lack of staff at the bar and cloakroom for such a huge night. Plus one of the bar staff was stressed so he began to rude to innocents, so he basically needed a slap or some help.

There were a bit too many 'hardmen' around and not an even distribution of male:female ratio! So I can see why this place decided to play "POW" by Lethal B when the clock struck 12. Twice they had to stop the record because the 'badmen' were being too erm 'bad', which put off girls from the danceflor for a while. They had decent DJ's for the night too (e.g.MTV's Hanif), a 'comical' dance comp and a great beatboxer. Unfortunately they couldn't hold the crowd until the 5am finish! The entrance is misleading as you think this place is going to be tiny but actually its a medium sized club with two rooms and 3 large bars in total, which isn't bad. The decor isn't really anything thought out, just black walls everywhere with some cool mirrors in the entrance and some low level blue lighting in the 2nd room. The club is also in a good position as it right in the middle of west London and near all local transport. There's lots of pubs and cheaper bars nearby so you can drink there moderately before you get ripped off for a rum and coke and a shot for £7!

I would probably go here again but not in a hurry, there are better clubs in London, but Mean fiddler is an alright substitute and they provided a good NYE night.
