I would say this is one of my favourite local pubs and have proudly invited friends and family to join me there. The selection of drinks are great and the atmosphere and interior is fab.
I always like to give good reviews - however I am forced to be honest about their really BAD food! It let's them down. I wish they would change their chef/person that makes the food.
I have eaten there at least three times (since my first time; when I put it down to chef-having-a-bad-day or chef-absent-and-so-unqualified-colleague-brought-in-to-cover) in the last year and each time have vowed to myself "never again". I also took my Boyfriends family there, and was completely embarrassed over putting them through such an awful experience!
I would really love for them to change their food - menu is great - food is cr*p: cold, overcooked/burned and slow. (The nachos are OK though.)
I love the Roebuck and will continue to be a regular there, but will not eat there again (except for the prepacked crisps and nuts), unless I notice a poster reading:
"food is now really good - nothing like before".

Nice friendly atmosphere. Always busy and loads of stuff going on. Food is ok but not much choice on the menu. Good for meeting a friend for a drink
The Roebuck serves some of the best food in Borough, I had the organic corn fed chicken breast with saffron risotto and salad, the presentation was amazing and the flavours were excellent. On top of this it was all reasonably priced £8.95, I will highly recommend a visit.
It makes me sad to write such a scathing review as I live close to the Roebuck and I used to quite often I frequent this lovely building for a beer or two in the afternoon or evenings it has a great atmosphere and is great to meet with friends for a drink
I am a bit of a foodie and I enjoy a good pub meal but feel that the food The Roebuck are serving lets the pub down something major! I am yet to have an enjoyable dining experience and I feel it is very it is very over priced, also the food is disgusting to say the least and the majority of the time your lucky if you even get what ordered! The last dinner I had there was a venison burger (£8.95) which tasted like a tired some old deer and the texture was so chewy I couldn’t bring my self to get past the fist bite!
I tried it for breakfast too thinking that maybe a different chef worked the mornings alas no I ordered the eggs Benedict with Salmon when I got it the eggs were over cooked and separated from the white to ad insult to injury there wasn’t any hollandaise sauce when I asked for hollandaise sauce the waiter took it away 10 minutes later I got back this cold separated egg thing with a cold yellow sauce that had a lovely big skin on it!
So in short if you don’t care what you eat/when you get it, perhaps you have had your taste buds removed or you just have money to burn then go to the Roebuck for a meal, but I personally would not even take my dog to this pub for dinner and I'm am sceptical to go back even for a beer due to this.
I've watched The Roebuck get better and better over the past couple of years. It has a young and trendy vibe and the food is spot on especially the Sunday roasts. The Roebuck is the kind of pub you can go to, to drink or to chill.
The pubs on the river front pull in most of Richmond's drinkers, so if you're after a quieter boozer, stroll up the hill to The Roebuck. A decent little pub that even has punters who know how to play Bar Billiards, the Roebuck is worth the walk for the panoramic view of the surrounding area. Woods, grassland and the Thames curling round - it's one of the finest views in London and you get it from outside a decent boozer!
