I had a great night out here back in 2009! The music was wicked and the atmosphere really chilled. I was high as a kite mind....

The night was just topped off beautifully when one of the bouncers tonked this bint in the back of the head - hilarious! If you see him, shake his hand - he had this awesome retro 'do (like MC Hammer yo!).

I received great service all night too - this blonde kept serving me as soon as i showed up at the bar, SWEET!

Liked the venue and the space but the staff ruined the night. Very rude and treated myself and my friends like we were the scum of the earth. I will never come here again! If you are planning a night to have fun with friends, forget the Social! Spend your money somewhere else where the staff actually have a laugh.

by far the worst London experience in 10 years!

went there couple of weeks ago, on 09th April, Friday, for what was promised to be a fairly decent night with good dj's etc. Less than an hour into an evening of sipping Champagne and enjoying a catch-up with my friend, a nicotine urge dragged us outside. Given the size of the place and that there were only 6-8 more people in the whole bar and a cctv camera pointing right at us, we left our drinks on the table, only to come back 3 min later and discover that not only our half unfinished bottle of Champagne was gone from the table, but also one of the glasses was emptied!

whilst i appreciate that any bar-goer in London is an easy target for pickpockets, thieves, etc, the whole experience was made a lot worse by totally obnoxious staff, from bar people to manager. No apologies, refusal to check cctv and one phrase repeated 20-odd times: 'what do you expect me to do?!'.

needless to say, we left right away, and finished our night at the Sanderson Long bar being totally spoiled by attentive staff.

will never return there again and wouldn't recommend to anyone unless you're ok with rude staff and knowing there will be no help whatsoever should you happen to be targeted by thieves!

I would say this about the Social - It has always been a cool place to go in terms of music, atmosphere, etc. But I was there last night and the attitude of some of the staff left a lot to be desired. Some of the bar staff act as if they are on a night out and would rather chat amongst themselves than serve. One girl had to have 3 attempts at making the drinks I asked for. Later on, the manager didnt seem to honour membership promotions despite them being advertised all over the place. It's not about the money-saving, it's about service so rather than change the place or the membership offers, I would like to see people working there who take care of the punters who like going there. You have been warned.

was having a good night until i got to the (anti) social where the bouncer - completely unprovoked punched me in the back of the head, very odd, witnessed by 5 people who all gave me their number and said they would make a statement- the acting manager on the night 'filed a complaint' and did nothing, didn't even offer an apology and funnily enough the CCTV didn't catch it and he is probably still working there- if he is he is black, short and has a bad 80s style cut. Who needs this on a night out. not me, we have boycotted the woman beating venue.

This review is totally unfounded and needs to be removed. The girl in question had been a nuisance all night in the venue and we had received a number of complaints from other customers about her behaviour.

The doorman who has to be one of the nicest and longest serving doormen in london did not strike her.

The police were called to the venue and the girls behaviour was so outrageous that they threatened her with arrest if she did not move on.

I would be grateful if this review is removed from your site as it is completely untrue.

If not I will be forced to take further action.

Thanks

I was actually there that night and can back up word for word what the girl has said. It was shocking to see the bouncer flip out and loose his temper even more so was that the bouncer remained on the door and was not taken off his shift. It's one word against the other so I would encourage all to keep to post coming as it's disgusting how the (anti) social has completely denied this. I too am boycotting this awful place.

I'm starting to really like the sound of this place. Anywhere where punching annoying women is tolerated sounds like a place worth visiting.

Been here so many times! Great place to meet up with some mates, have a laugh and listen to some good, funky music. Although it is pretty small, it's got a really good vibe!

Good venue and great music.....the only downside was the bar staff. The girl behind the bar (with blonde crop) was really the epitome of appalling bar service. I've never known anything like it!

I spent nearly 40 minutes standing at the front of the bar trying to get served but she completely ignored me and kept serving the men either side of me. At one point my friend who has just been served mentioned to her that I had been waiting for longer that him, but this was met with a rather rude response and made her even more hostile.

She then went on to serve every other customer at the bar for the next 15 minutes until finally her fellow barman came over (having seen me waiting for such an excruciatingly long time) and actually apologised for his colleagues behaviour!!

I work in media and customer relations and, trust me, if I ever treated a client like that I'd get fired! Very unprofessional.

I had a fantastic time at The Social at the weekend. It was inviting and energetic, which is something that tends to be few and far between these days. I haven't been in such a friendly atmosphere for years.

The Social is definitely a local haunt that will be a regular spot on my calender.

What can I say about The Social apart from the fact that they should rename this place the Anti Social. I was asked by staff not to sit on a chair because the chair was not supposed to be there!

I found the atmosphere at The Social cold and the decor dated. If you don't mind standing in a cold, dull, cramped hole and not having a good time, try it. Oh dear.

The Social has proven me wrong: The west end is not a no go area to go out in. The venue, cocktails, atmosphere and hip hop karaoke are all top.

I can't wait for the next enstallment of karaoke at The Social.

The Social is one of the best bars in the West End. The nights rock! I love 'I'm with Stupid' and 'Thriller Kids'. There is a great party atmosphere on both nights and The Social is unpretentious to boot. There is a good choice of lager, cocktails and comfort food. The Social staff are friendly and know what they are doing.

The Social has lots of different music nights and it's great to not have to endure the same stuff all the time. The staff are friendly and they don't short change you no matter what state you're in. The Social has also got reasonably priced drinks which is great for a bar in central London.

The Social in Little Portland Street has a comfy atmosphere with the best seats being the booths upstairs. The music is excellent and the staff are good - even the bouncers! The Social is one place that you can get a good Guinness but it also does lovely cocktails.
