The Titanic Requiem Tickets
Warner Music Groups’ Rhino Entertainment is delighted to announce that on 19 March 2012 they will release the first ever classical work by one of popular music’s true living legends Robin Gibb. Entitled The Titanic Requiem this brand new symphonic concept-album, was recorded over the past year and marks the first collaboration with his son Robin-John (RJ) Gibb. The album release will be followed by the world premiere concert performance of The Titanic Requiem in London on 10 April.
The Titanic Requiem was written and completed in time to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the catastrophic loss of life of the oceanic legend RMS Titanic.
Recorded over a half-dozen sessions during this past year at Air Studios in London, The Titanic Requiem is performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and features the RSVP Voices Choir, lead vocals from such opera notables as (Sony Recording artist) tenor Mario Frangoulis and British choirgirl, the (soon-to-be) 14-year old prodigy, Isabel Suckling. Suckling sings "Christmas Day", the first piece from the album to have been made available (digitally streamed exclusively on robingibb.com over the Christmas holiday period).
Perhaps most notably for pop music fans, The Titanic Requiem’s ‘Don’t Cry Alone,’ features a lead vocal from Robin Gibb, the welcome return of one of music’s truly unforgettable and distinctive voices.
Robin Gibb said: "It has been an incredible experience working with my son RJ. There is a creative freedom and uninhibited state that comes from working with a family member. Working on this album and with RJ has been a driving force, and one that has helped me on the road to recovery."
The world premiere concert of The Titanic Requiem has been confirmed to take place on 10 April 2012 at the Great Hall, Central Hall, Westminster, London. Performed in its entirety by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the concert will feature a choir and very special guests.
The historical facts of the disastrous maiden voyage are well-known.
On 10 April 1912 the fateful ocean passage of the RMS Titanic began in Southampton, England. The journey began with much fanfare. Titanic was the biggest ship ever built; it was declared to be unsinkable.
But on 15 April 1912, not long after hitting an iceberg, the Titanic sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic. That trip…and that ship…is so steeped in history, that 100 years after that fateful event, the world's fascination with it has not ebbed. Nobody has ever forgotten the drama and trauma of that tragedy.
