A welcoming and unpretentious party venue in the heart of the West End, Tiger Tiger is a huge venue that aims to offer something for everyone.

The Venue
On first look, Tiger Tiger may seem like yet another tourist trap amidst the bustle of Haymarket's many late night haunts, but it boasts three floors and attracts huge numbers throughout the week.

On the ground floor is the lively Tiger Bar, an area decked out with plenty of seating and a restaurant for those who want a bite to eat. Though it may seem like the most popular area of the venue, you’d be surprised at the other options that lie within. Downstairs, the refurbished and retro Groovy Wonderland lives up to its name – a large space with an LED dancefloor, surrounded by leather booths, it has a bar that serves cocktails in pineapples. Take yourself up a floor and you’ll find The White Room, where mirrored walls, pure white booths and a central podium (complete with pole, of course) take precedence to give a more modern and club-like feel.

Another short flight of stairs uncovers the dark and black leather-clad Opal (designed exactly like the better known Embankment bar), which gets crowded easily – definitely worth booking a booth if you want to retreat here. If you can pass the busy bar and head to the back, the Cloud Lounge awaits: a classier, more exclusive area which makes a great base for the night ahead. Low ceilings, draped curtains, half-disco balls and a smaller bar along with the temptation of a tapas menu makes it a good setting for couples, groups or older clientele.

The Atmosphere
Though seeming a little exclusive on the outside thanks to door staff who can take their guestlists quite seriously, the Tiger Tiger crowd are generally as easy going as the venue itself. When it comes to the weekend the five bars will be filled with a friendly mix of tourists, hen parties, groups of twenty-somethings on the prowl and typical West End dwellers who don’t take themselves too seriously. The bar staff could easily be bored and inattentive types what with the size of the venue, but the service is as good as any swanky bar and they’re not short on conversation or glass-throwing tricks.

The Music
With live bands every Thursday and DJs playing into the early hours on busier nights, the bar earns its stripes on the music front and you get to choose your soundtrack by trying out the different areas. In the main, expect classic pop, R&B, funky house and dance tracks. Of course, if nostalgia is what you’re looking for then Groovy Wonderland is where you can practice your dad’s old dance moves with its disco-fied 70s and 80s soundtrack – just leave the flares at home…

The Food
Catering for those who plan to start early and finish late, Tiger Tiger hosts a restaurant area as well as serving up nibbles in the various bars to their hungry guests. For groups, the best way to taste the menu is to go for a platter. The vegetarian platter is a tasty mix of crisp celery, spicy spring rolls, baked wedges and pizza, all served with tangy and creamy dips for £15. Other choices include gourmet burgers, spicy chicken wings and nachos, but pizza and the much-loved ‘posh fish finger sandwich’ are also available.

The Drink
As you’d expect for its location, Tiger Tiger offers up the usual range of drinks to keep you partying all night. From draught beers to champagne cocktails they have it covered, though prices are in keeping with its West End location. The venue also has a decent wine list with bottles starting at around £15 as well as a varied list of mouth-watering cocktails which seem a little light on the spirits. Their signature martini, Jewel in the Crown, looks impressive but is overpowered with passion fruit while the flavoured mojitos don’t have as much of a kick as you’d hope for. The classics are better handled, with the Bellini’s Prosecco being perfectly laced with peach puree, or for something unusual and a little drier, the Eternal Bliss has strong elderflower tones.

The Last Word
Nowhere near as wild as its name, Tiger Tiger brings a casual vibe to London’s busiest tourist area. While there’s nothing new about any of the venue’s five bars, they add up to a winning formula for those in search of a mainstream party venue in the heart of the West End.
