I was in traffic on Sat 5th April.
This place is pretty cool actually, now I notice it's got mixed reviews.
Anyway the music was absolutely my taste and was a tasteful mix of old school and new songs. The bar staff are friendly and I agree that they don't show a hint of pretentiousness. I was gob smacked at the prices. I paid £5 for a corona. I think that’s a record or something. For fear of crippling debt I stuck to Redbull (£2.90). Although this place touts itself like a west-end club (and prices too) it doesn't have the scourge of drunk morons hanging around outside and inside.
I found the clientele to be cool apart from some who couldn't handle their drink and couldn't dance to save their lives (bad combo). I liked the door staff as they were funny to watch (they did hunt the ladies quite a bit though :P ) and they're no-nonsense approach to troublemakers was impressive.
I left this place wanting to bring my usual mates along (I was with a birthday crowd I didn't know) so it was obviously a good impression. The girls in this place are as mind blowing as the drink prices! Especially two stunning mixed-race girls (promoters I think) who I couldn't stop noticing), you do feel like you're in a VIP lounge with the types in here but good fun. The cloak-room girl was cute and friendly too!
So... Bring the prices down, re-think the table booking service and give the manager's wages to the rest of the staff - and this venue will be EXCELLENT!
Held my 25th here last Saturday and I have to say I had a blast! There was 23 of us so I was a bit worried as usually someone cant get in but the bouncers were very friendl and my table was reserved just like the promoter promised.
The drinks were reasonably priced and the music was great! All in all I'd suggest it to anyone celebrating a birthday or looking for a fun night without the usual west end antics!
I visited Traffic on 14/02/08. This venue is sterile and soul-less. I ordered 2 different, badly made cocktails & was flabbergasted that the bar staff couldn't manage a Cosmopolitan. It had no cranberry juice in it, instead lemon and lime juice. The Bramble tasted like cough medicine. The chips we ordered were un-cooked in the middle (crunchy) and somehow soggy at the same time. Aweful.
No idea what happened with the people below, in my experience, Traffic is a fantastic place to go!!!
They don't seem to just let "anybody" in - perhaps this is a good thing???
I've been there a good few times in the last few months, the staff are always lovely, really helpful, prices are good, great atmosphere and I love the music.
Don't be put off going to this place.
What a horrendous evening at this absolute pitiful place.
With thorough organisation, I called up on the 23rd January to make queries about arranging the birthday party of myself and my friend for the 2nd Feb. I spoke to a gentleman who Okayed that we would be able to pay £5 to get into the bar/club before 9pm.
We went ahead with our planning, liaising with the bar via e-mail.
On the night of the 2nd, my friends arrive at the bar at 7:30pm and are told that they are not open until 8pm. The website clearly said that bar opens from 6pm on a Saturday.
We were greeting by a rather smug manager who clearly needs to learn about working in the hospitality industry. One of the guest lists (30 people) had not been forwarded to him. They did not reserve an area for our 50 guests. The website said that food was served and turns out there were no food on a Saturday. The MANAGER said he could not control the website.
He called the owner and he decided that he did not want our booking of 50 people.
We had to find another venue at 9pm and call up 25 people to inform them of the change.
An incredibly disorganised venue and a rip of to pay £10 just to enter…
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
Where do I start with my review when I sit here writing this with absolute disgust for this bar!
From a rude manager to an owner who does not know what is going on in his club to promoters who don't communicate, Traffic Bar will not stop any sort of traffic in my books.
It's a shame to read good reviews from the New Years Eve Party, because it seems post New Years, this place has gone downhill. I would never recommend anyone planning a celebration to ever consider this bar.
A friend and I had planned to do a combined b-day celebration at Traffic. We started communication with the Club and was told that as long as we had a guest list, our guests would pay £5 to enter before 9.
We checked the website (BTW-incorrect information on the website) for details and made arrangements. We reserved an area and sent through a guest list. To much disappointment, we arrived there on Saturday with our guests and were told that they knew nothing about it even though we have correspondence on email to prove the communication and the replies from the club.
After receiving utter rudeness from the useless manager, we were told that they did not want us there anymore so we had to get in touch with our entire guest list to announce a change of venue. And of course still had a great night at our alternate venue!
But this is not the last that the club will hear from us! If only there was a minus rating on this site!
I went along to Traffic to New Years Eve and I have to say it was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable New Years I have had in quite some time. I went along with a group of friends and we were all in unanimous agreement on this point. The venue was excellent, with a vibrant and contagious vibe. The staff in particular were extremely helpful and not at all pretentious, which is a rare treat for such a trendy venue in London. The crowd was great and the food and cocktails were in a league of there own. I will definitely be returning to Traffic, which exceeded all expectations.
What an awesome New Years Eve!
I said I'd never do a bar or club on NYE let alone the West End (its all about the East!) but this exceeded all expectations - an excellent venue with a terrific vibe - different rooms for different purposes and tastes. Great food/drinks and an incredibly fun dancefloor!
Busy but not overcrowded, I forgot the fireworks or any other establishment for that matter existed.
I brought around 15 friends so its always a gamble with so much on offer around the city but we all had a night to remember so thanks to the people at Traffic for doing such a great job!
9/10 (drops one for West End Prices!)
